Eyefinity 6 issue

Dear all,

I have problem with new 5870 eyefinity 6:
1. Display group broken after restarting windows 7
2. Display group broken after switching profile

My config:
Core i7 920, Gigabyte ex58-ud5 (F8 bios), 6gb kingstone hyperx,
Gigabyte HD5870 Eyefinity 6,
4x Dell P2210 and 2x Dell 2209wa
Windows 7 ultimate 64bit
Catalyst 10.3a, 10.3b, 10.4 and 10.5.

Cables:
2x bizlink DP to DP, 2x foxconn DP to DP and 2x dell DVI to DVI.
Adapters:
2x gigabyte miniDP to DP, 2x gigabyte miniDP to DVI(passive) and 2x miniDP to DP from HD5970

First issue:
When I first run windows with eyefinity 6, all screen turn on in expanded mode which correctly detect by windows display manager.
I open up catalyst control center, just simply click to monitor and want to create 3x2 setup. The screen goes blank after fey seconds, then only 1 monitor turn on.
So I try to duplicate each screen 1 by 1. but when I try to duplicate the fifth monitor, the screen goes blank and then only one monitor turn on, catalyst CC not reponding.
I only able to duplicate all screen by duplicate all DP monitor first, then close catalyst CC, refresh the desktop and duplicate another 2 dvi monitor.
Then, I easily create 3x2 display group.

Second issue:
After restating windows, there’s on four screen turns on, all are DP monitor, while DVI monitor goes blank(no signal). All four screen in duplicated mode.
Then I have to do 1 by 1 step to enable back 3x2 group. Then I save the profile.
I do another test, restarting windows, still have problem with only 4 monitors turn. Then I enable 3x2 profile which I’ve already save earlier, all screen turns on but in duplicated mode. I create 3x2 group again, save an restart. Same thing happen. I do it again and again but when I enable profile, some time only 1 screen turn on and catalyst not responding, sometime all 6 monitor turn on in duplicated mode.

Testing:
It seems to me that catalyst, radeon or windows didn’t recognize DVI connection correctly upon boot up. So I did a several test.
a. 3x1 group with DVI-DP-DVI combination, = Pass
b. 3x1 group with all DP connection = Pass
c. 2x2 group with all DP connection = Pass
d. 2x2 group with 3xDP and 1xDVI = Pass
e. 2x2 group with 2xDP and 2xDVI = Pass
f. 3x1 group(primary) with 2xDVI + DP, and 3x1 group(extended) with all DP = Pass
g. 2x2 group(primary) with all DP, and 1 extended DVI + 1 extended DVI = Pass
h. 2x2 group(primary) with all DP, and 1x2 group(extended) with all DVI = Pass
i. 2x2 group(primary) with 2xDP + 2xDVI, and 1x2 group(extended) with all DP = Pass
j. 2x2 group(primary with 3xDP + 1xDVI, and 1x2 group(extended) with 1xDP + 1xDVI = Pass
k. 3x1 group(primary) with 2xDP + 1xDVI, and 3x1 group(extended) with 2xDP + 1xDVI = Pass

Windows 7 32bit still have same issue. CCC 10.3a and 10.3b
Now, at this point, I assume maybe because by 64bit bugs, so I installed windows 7 32bit on my spare HDD, run it and still got same problem.

Windows Vista 32 bit solved the problem. CCC 10.3b
Then I take out my old windows vista 32 bit, test it and the problem gone. I easily create 3x2 group, display group didn’t broken when restarting windows but switching between profiles, still have a problem. When I switch profile from 3x2 to 3x1, 3 monitors correctly turn on but in duplicated mode. I open up CCC, there is option to enable group instead of create display group. Same thing happen when switching from 3x1 to 3x2.

Back to windows 7 issue again.
I’ve tried swapping mini DP port between DVI and DP connection.
I’ve tried to turn off DCD/ID on all monitor.
I update my entire monitor driver.
I change my monitor to “generic monitor”.
In CCC, I enable and disable “alternate DVI signal” and “reduce DVI speed”
None of the above solves my problem.

I need your help.
I want to know from eyefinity 6 user, are u also have same problem like mine if using all DP monitor.
If not, can you do some test by using 4DP and 2DVI connection, or any suggestion?

I’m sorry about my English and thank you for reading my post.

Kind Regards,
Ariff
