Can a stolen iphone be used?

Sorry if this has been asked before, because I'm getting confusing replies and I'm desperate for an urgent answer.

My wife's iphone 7s Plus was stolen while in overseas last night.

She does not have a screen lock, neither device boot lock.

In within 3 hours, I logged into icloud using a browser to change her apple password.
The "Find my iphone" just says the device is offline. I initiated a device lock and wipe using icloud.
Then called Maxis and blocked her number.
This morning in icloud, the wipe request is still pending. Meaning, it has not connect to the internet yet.

What can the thief do with the phone? Can the thief wipe the phone and put in his sim card?
I know he can sell it for parts. I thought the whole idea of lock and wipe my iphone is to render a stolen iphone worthless.

This is very depressing to lose a RM4k phone (to theft) while on holiday.

Any recommendation for a 4K IPS Monitor?

My criteria is simple, yet I cannot find any monitor that meets what I'm looking for.

1) Minimum 27 inch. Prefer 28 to 30 inch.
2) 4K IPS monitor
3) Must have built in speakers
4) Prefer curved

Budget is RM2k plus, but still negotiable.

To be used for gaming.
If you know or have any recommendations, please let me know. I've been looking for quite a while now. none have met all criterias above.
Do GPU cards have a lifespan?

Does a GPU card have a lifespan? So it will last only 1 or 2 years before giving problems?

I'm currently using a GTX 760. Worked fine for maybe a year, then it becomes unstable. My PC can freeze, and upon re-booting by pressing the power switch, it generates a continuous beeping sound. No signal on the screen and the only thing I can do is to reseat the graphics card. Then it works. But randomly the problem occurs again. And I need to open the case and reseat the graphics card again. I'm not necessarily playing games or overloading the system, sometimes just typing some word documents also can freeze it. Sometimes when playing 3D games and it have no problems. So there's no pattern when it will freeze.

I took out my GTX 760 and gave it a thorough cleaning, and removed all the dust. Then it worked fine, it was stable for about 6 months. But now it happened again, but this time the card (and case) looks clean (not dusty).

This seems a frequent problem for me. Last time I used a GTX750Ti and also had this problem at around one year old. So I changed to a GTX760. One year later, same problem. I managed to extend the life of my GTX760 by cleaning it, but now the problem re-occurred.

I was wondering is there a lifespan for GPU cards? I'm thinking of buying the GTX1070, but at around RM2k, I would hate for it to last me only a year.

Thanks.
This unit works great. Eheim pump lasts a lifetime, and very rarely you will find a used unit for sale in the market. However I upgraded to a bigger filtration system and this perfectly working unit is up for sale.

It comes with 5 liters of ADA Bio Rio which is already established. Meaning, you don't need to cycle your filter. ADA Bio Rio is a superior bio media. If purchased separately, 5 liters will cost you RM210.

The standard filter media is already included inside the filter (course, fine and carbon). Spare filter media is also provided as indicated. The standard hoses/pipes are also included. And I'm also giving away a free CO2 Reactor. Please refer to the picture.

The only thing you need to buy is a pair of Double Tap Connectors so you can connect/disconnect the filter easily. You can get these at LFS or from hardware shops. Expect a pair to cost around RM100 in LFS.

Personal warranty of 1 month. Buy with confidence as this is a good unit.

Available for self-pickup in PJ area.

Picture:

[attachmentid=8806145]

[attachmentid=8806147]

[attachmentid=8806151]

[attachmentid=8806158]

What's the network speed if you mix Cat5e and Cat6

Hi all network gurus,

My home is already wired with concealed Cat5e wiring since sometime ago.

Now I need to run additional concealed wiring to two more rooms. I was thinking of using Cat6 cables in order to future proof the need to upgrade.

My question is if next time I have a 10 Gigabit router, and 2 rooms are connected with Cat5e cables, and another 2 rooms are connected with Cat6 cables - then what speed will my network be running on?

Does this mean the entire network will downgrade to 1 Gigabit? Or 2 rooms will have 1 Gigabit and the other 2 rooms will have 10 Gigabit connections?

Thanks.

Hi all,

I'm using Maxis HomeFibre Internet. And they provide a Router which is Technicolor tg784n v3.

My PC network card is Gigabit speed. I also connect a Storage device to the Router. The Storage Device is also Gigabit speed.

I need the Maxis Router to also run at Gigabit speed, otherwise I won't have gigabit speed when accessing the Storage device?

Does anyone know if the Maxis router is also a Gigabit speed router?

Thanks.
Acer X193HQ Compatibility Issue?

So the Acer X193HQ is an 18.5 inch wide screen aspect LCD. It has dual input analog and DVI, looks great and comes at an irresistible price at only around RM340.

I bought one unit. When used with my Core 2 Duo PC with Nvidia 9500GT (PCIE slot), the monitor is brilliant. It functions just the way a monitor should. Trouble free plug and play.

The problem is, I actually intended to use it with an older PC, running on an ATI Radoen 9550 display card on AGP slot.

The natural display of the LCD is 1366 x 768 resolution. and the ATI Radeon does not support this. It only supports 1360 x 768, even with the latest drivers.

6 pixels is nothing really, but displaying 1360 screen resolution onto a 1366 pixels monitor causes the displayed text to be blurred. LCD users will understand what I mean by the natural resolution of LCD. Also tried using the DVI input, still does not help at all.

So I changed the graphic card to a GeForce2 MX400. Pretty old card, but capable of displaying at 1366 x 768 resolution. Downloaded the latest drivers, and set it to 1366 x 768 resolution. Even at the optimized resolution, the text is still blurred, and worse yet, it cannot focus correctly and the right hand side is chopped off by about 5 pixels, and it even flickers.

So I can't use it with an old card, and it can't display clearly with a Radeon 9550 display card. I found out on the internet that other users also reported the same resolution problem as I faced, so I am not alone here.

This is the first time I am facing such problems with an LCD monitor and I've been using LCDs since year 2000. I have 3 other LCDs, a LG, Samsung and a Computron, and all functioned perfectly no matter where I plug it in.

I think this is a quality issue Acer has to address and this cause me to lose trust in the brand. They should recall this product and fix their compatibility issues.

Since I bought it only yesterday, I tried to take it back to the shop and asked to change to another monitor, probably a LG or Samsung. Heck, I didn't even mind paying more at this stage if it will solve my problem.

But because it works well with the latest generation of graphic cards, then the technician smiled from ear to ear and said, look, nothing wrong with it when he plugged it in. He blamed the AGP slot instead.

Why don't I just upgrade the PC to solve the problem? Because I have a Core 2 Duo and it has its own 19" LG LCD. Its much nicer than the Acer LCD, and this Acer was bought for use with an old Pentium D.

In Malaysia, the customer satisfaction policy is, once you buy it, it becomes your problem. Unless it doesn't work, then they will replace with the same unit.
In overseas, or like in Ikea, and maybe Jusco, you can take it back if returned in its original condition, especially if its next day return.

I learnt my lesson. although cheap, but now I'm going to stick with the more established brands like LG and Samsung. No more Acer for me.

This is a heads up that the Acer X193HQ does not work well with AGP cards. If you intend to use it with an AGP card, you best test it out first before you buy, else it becomes your problem.
