Canon 600D with Tamron 17-50mm

Type of camera/lens/accesories : Undecided
Budget : RM2500 or below
Your Location : KL/Penang
Preferable brand : Canon or Nikon
Type of photography u want to do : HD Video (into film-making), "macro photography"? (action figures) as well as overall decent pics of ppl/scenery
Any specific models in mind? : Nikon P300, Nikon V1, Canon 600D
Any specific features u want? : HD video and good photo quality
Extra note:
Actually I'm undecided if I should get a DSLR or a point and shoot, or something in between like the Nikon V1.

I'm really into film-making as a hobby and make new videos every now and then. So video and sound quality is really important to me. Having an external mic jack is a plus.
Picture quality is also important as I take pictures of action figures and model kits a lot (macro?). Also I would like to take decent pictures of people and scenery as well.
Everyone says nothing is comparable to DSLR in terms of image quality.

Why I'm skeptical about getting a DSLR:
Price, of course.
Portability. I'm afraid the size of the DSLR would be a problem.
People say that one lens is not enough, and we need to buy more lenses?
Maintenance is not really my forte. I heard there's a lot of cleaning and up-keeping to be done..

Should I spend so much on a DSLR or should I just get the NikonP300 and save the balance? I don't really have the funds for lens upgrades.
The Nikon V1 is attracting my attention because it seems to be somewhere in between the two. Is it any good and are there any problems with it?

Please advise me

Thanks guys!
