Hood without chimney ...

I bought a hood without chimney, but have no idea how to install it so that the pipes won't be exposed and looks ugly. Due to budget constraint, I only do bottom cabinets, top all empty.

Any idea how to cover up the pipes? Use plaster ceiling? wood?

Toshiba Fridge GR-WG76MDAZ(GG) vs Hitachi R-VG710P

I am using Toshiba fridge for about 8 years now, so far so good, no problem with it. So i thought to buy back Toshiba (GR-WG76MDAZ(GG)) for my new place. However, the electric shop guy told me not to get Toshiba as Toshiba nowadays made in China, and quality is not as good as before.

Then he intro this Hitachi R-VG710P, which costs about RM 500 more.

Also Toshiba only will save electric for about 35% where else Hitachi 50%.

Is Toshiba quality really that bad now? I did some research just now on Hitachi R-VG710P, a lot complaint on the noise!!

Any comments?

Alkaline water

There are so many different brands out there, all can produce alkaline water. Price range different too. I am always confused, from RM 3k+ to RM 12k, you can get alkaline water. So what is the difference between the RM 3k type and the more expensive type?

Recently came across those really expensive one, Kangen water, RM 12k. From what I understand it can generate really high ph level alkaline water, ph 11 or something like that. Then a friend of mine introduced me to VWA, said it can generate even MORE higher ph level, ph 12! and the price is cheaper ....According to her why Kangen is expensive because it is MLM.

Why do we need such high ph level alkaline water? What is the difference between VWA and Kangen?

Any thoughts?

Went to Homedec yesterday, managed to ask a few company on their alarm systems & price. I'm a newbie in this, hope you guys can give me some advise ..

Paradox - 2 different comp offering

1. focus on "good service, good workmanship, all chinese workers", price more expensive. No limit on sensors (for double storey, intermediate unit), 1 keypad, price RM 2950, installing + conceal, add RM 500. No mention on sensor motion
2. the other one all in around 3000, 2 keypads, 15 sensors + entry, 2 free sensor motion

BluGuard
- RM 2299, 10 sensors, free 2 motion sensor

Supa
- RM 2400, 15 sensors

Also asked about the CCTV, 4 cameras, price approx RM 3000 (all brands about the same) ..

I'm not sure what else to ask also, any advise?

Pest Control

No experience in this area, hopefully you guys can give me some advise/suggestions.

Heard ex-rubber and palm plantation land would be the best habitat for termites, my house is on a ex palm plantation, would like to prevent that to happen. A friend intro this pest control comp, offering me RM 1800 for 2 yrs (if I can few more neighbors to sign up, else different price). Since most of the people do not want to drill their tiles, they will just come and spray every 3 months. If touch wood, got termite during this period, they will free the termite baiting ..

My question is, is this good enough? is the Soil planting type better?

Water Storage Heater Tank

I want to install water storage heater tank for hot shower but only managed to survey few brands. Is there any other brands out there?

price based on 30 liter to 40 liter tank, my brother house currently using a 30 liter tank for 2 adults 2 kids. When we went to stay, water still hot, think 30 liter is big enough for us.

1. Jovxx - this is an old brand, famous in water heater, price cheapest, but using traditional to heat up the tank, consume more electricity. RM 700+

2. Seex - new brand, said use new kind of heating element to heat, consume little electricity. Sales was good, almost gonna buy it until he started to push me to take 80 liter tank. I only have 2 adults and 1 kid at home, kept saying I need a 80 to 100 liter tank. I wonder if I have 5 or 6 people at home, then I have to buy multiple 100 liter tank? RM 800+

3. Sxlar - this also using new heating element, but consume a little bit more than Seex. Price wise also slightly higher. RM 900+

Anybody using water storage heater tank? what brand are you using? Is there any other brand out there?

put lower price in snp

Hi, heard from a friend. He sold his house for 400k, but in snp, he only stated 300k so that he won't get tax so much on RPGT.

My question is, how this thing work? Will there be another agreement separately to protect the seller, so that the buyer will really pay off the 100k?

Lawyers now willing to do these thing? is it illegal?

Pos Laju Big Box charged differently?

I went to the post office to deliver a parcel this morning. I put the items in a box, not a really big box but it can't go thru the post office counter window.

I was shocked when she told me i need to pay RM 22 for the box, (KL to penang). I asked her why? She said cos the item i sent is not heavy and the box is big, so I need to pay more.

Does that means if my items heavy and the box small then I will be charged at the normal rate?

FYI, the box is half of the notebook box, but thicker..
