what happened .. is this due to virus?

My antivirus prgm expired this am without me noticing.

What is happening now: i tried to download the free AVG version but the moment i click the web site from google, my IE or firefox will shut down automatically. But I can still browse web page of any other sites, so long it got nothing to do with antivirus prgm download.

Alternatively, I tried to install the antivirus software from disk (ahem version), but the moment i click the program set-up, the window explorer just close by itself and there is no way that i could install any progm.

What's happening?

What do i do now?

Thank you!

Pioneer 383k DIVX Player

I have this .avi movie and i burned into CD but could not be played in my Pioneer Player.

The resolution is 592 x 384 and I have confirmed other movies with such a resolution can be played in my Pioneer.

When I used GSpot to understand the VIDEO format of this file and it says

Codec: H264/x264
Name: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC

See the ppt page 1

If I click the properties of this .avi file, it says the VIDEO compression is of FFDS. See ppt page 2.

Does it mean my pioneer 383 k can't support this particular file?

If answer is yes, how and what software shall I use to convert this file into something that I can watch via my Pioneer? Thanks

Software to break mp3 file into 10 min interval

I downloaded quite a number of talks in mp3 but these are LONG .. like close to 1 hours.

Is there any software for me to break it down to several files (or chapters) with about 10 minutes each? By doing so this will ease my search ability as some times i would like to resume at the 30th minute of the talk and it is impractical for me to fast forward every time. Thanks

WINDOWS is too slow after reinstallation

Hi all the gurus out there, my problem is, after reinstalling Window XP follows my XP crushed (due to improper shutdown), the system has become SOOO Slow, judging from the speed Nero is burning. I am on COMPAQ Presario.

I knew this, before the crush, I could burn a copy of 5 GB DVD in less than 10 minutes (burning at 11080 KB/s) but now it takes a whopping 1 hour. What puzzled me is, even now, the Nero screen says I am copying at 11080 KB/S but in reality it is not (i.e much slower).

My processor is of AMD Dual Core 64X2 3800+, 1.99 GhZ, 1 GB of RAM. At present I do have more programs in my system, that include ZoneAlarm, AVG, Spyware Doctor, Spy Sweeper. Previously (before the crush), I was running on Spyware Doctor and McAfee only.

Questions:
1)	Any of the anti-virus and Anti-spyware that installed sapped too much of the processor capability. But to test out, I ensure there is no broadband connection, and I shut-off all anti-virus and anti-spyware program; so I think these programs should have no bearing on the processor?

2)	Shall I update my DVD-RW and DVD-ROM drivers?

3)	What else could go wrong? Thank you.
