Error installing Win7 x64

my friend juz got a new netbook, and i am trying to install Win7 x64 Ultimate to get rid of the ugly Win7 Starter came pre-loaded...

Acer Aspire One D270
Intel Atom N2600
2GB DDR3
320GB HDD

upon loading Windows after the grey bar, the netbook reports the error "0xc000035a", "Attempting to load a 64-bit application, however this CPU is not compatible with 64-bit mode"...

a quick visit to ark.intel.com and it lists the latest N2000 Atom family is 64-bit capable...

the USB drive used to install Windows is fine... juz did a reinstall of Win7 on another computer a few days ago...

am i missing sth here?

desktop problem

ok, i will break it down in pt forms...

hardware:
C2D E6550
Gigabyte P35-DS3L
Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800MHz 1GB x2
WD Caviar Blue 500GB
XFX 9800GT
Antec Neo ECO 450W
everything at stock settings, no oc etc...

initally was using a 250GB and a 320GB, both Hitachi Deskstar... the former cannot be used to boot up at all, while the latter will BSOD upon entering Windows (sometimes can log in, sometimes can't)...

format the 320GB, using USB install of Win7 HP x64... everything loads so ever slowly compared to the past... i can confirm no issues with the thumb drive as i ve formatted 2 laptops with it before this...

anyway, it still installs eventually... but will BSOD as well...

changed the HDDs to the caviar Blue, same issue... (slow install + BSOD at the end)... except this time the BSOD complains that it cannot load the display driver...

i dun ve a secondary GPU to test this out... but i am afraid that this is got to do with the mobo as well... any body can shed some light? dun want to make a wasted trip (ie bought GPU only to find out the whole mobo got problem)...

Folding@Home on Laptops

well, winter is approaching in Australia and the idea of Folding@Home pops out in my head again...

all u need to do is download the client programs from their website, set it up nicely, and fold away... there's minimal impact on normal use of the computer as the client will only run on idle resources, but it's highly recommended to pause/stop it when u run intensive applications (like games, multiple virtual machines, etc)...

there's no rewards of any kind at the end of the day, it's all pure voluntary work, the project would however award points for the work u ve completed though, as a proof of the work that ur computers have done...

some of u may know the Folding@Malaysia team, i was part of them, but it's getting more and more dead...

so i juz want to check how many ppl are interested and if we can get enuf ppl, set up a team and fold, with laptops only... minimum requirement, CPU with SSE instruction (aka Pentium !!!) for CPU, GPU with Stream Processing architecture (aka GeForce 8M or Radeon HD2k) for GPU...

be warned though, this is a very intensive application and may cause ur laptop to overheat and shutdown (especially when u run both CPU and GPU clients at the same time)...

no modding or wat so ever, plan to do some light OC on the CPU
no plans for multi GPU AT ALL in the future

i am undecided between Corsair's VX550 or GS600... both look pretty solid from reviews... any suggestions?

Intel to hold back USB 3.0 for notebooks till 2012

Seagate Momentus XT

Seagate officially launched their latest 2.5" HDD product, the Hybrid Hard Disk, or HHD...

besides the conventional cache and platters, the Momentus XT comes with additional 4GB read only NAND chips to act as an extra layer of cache... combined with Windows ReadyDrive (Vista and Win7) and Seagate's own algorithm, the drive would make a copy of frequently used files onto the flash memory, thus increasing performance significantly...

Seagate has no plans for 3.5" variants, however... Asus G73Jh will be the first OEM product to be equipped with the HHD...

MSRP of the drive is US$113, US$132 and US$156 for 250GB, 320GB and 500GB respectively... e-tailers are already selling the 500GB model for US$130 (Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...omentus%20XT)...
