Anyone has experience in planning outdoor ROM?

Hi ladies and gentlemen. I have just proposed to my girlfriend (now my fiancé!). We both agree that an outdoor ROM will be a beautiful and memorable thing. We are also willing to compromise a little bit on the wedding dinner for the sake of our outdoor ROM, since the ROM is more of a two-person moment. However, I couldn't find much information on the procedures to plan an outdoor ROM. That's why I am opening this thread, hope to gain more enlightenments on the questions below.

1. What are the standard procedures? Do we start by settling on a date, venue then only proceed to book the registrar or it's the other way round? There are a few cases where both date and venue are fixed but they couldn't get a registrar. Like this fellow forumer.
2. Also, I would highly appreciate it if anyone could give me a rough budget for one outdoor ROM. I am planning well ahead right now.

Pertaining to the title above, we have been together for 8+ years and I think it's time to pop the question. Since the engagement ring isn't cheap, I have some concerns. I can get her ring size easily and I probably will be able to pick the one she likes but I am afraid that she will feel uncomfortable wearing that (too heavy etc). I am also in the middle of planning the surprise proposal. Now, I am left with these options:
1. Pick the ring on my own
2. Bring along her to pick the ring
3. Propose with a temporary ring and get the actual ring together afterwards

Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences.

Need Your Opinion on My PTPTN Case

Hi guys. I am a student just graduated from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). I have borrowed a total of RM42,000 from PTPTN for my four years of study. Recently, I have been informed that my application for PTPTN repayment exemption was approved. However, I did not get full exemption and I still need to repay a total of RM5,250.00. After consulting PTPTN, an officer told me that RM5,250.00 is the loan money I was not supposed to receive because I only studied one semester in the year 2013 and this amount was given by PTPTN during 2013 session 2. Therefore, I need to repay this amount back. More info next.

First, let me explain about my university trimester system. There are three semesters in one year (January, May, and September). In each year, students are only allowed to study for two semesters straight then the following semester will be 4-months holiday. I started my degree in January 2012 semester so I was supposed to have my holiday in September 2012 semester. Instead, I switched my September 2012 semester and January 2013 semester due to personal reasons. As a result, I continued to study during September 2012 semester and I took my holiday during January 2013 semester. That is why I studied 3 semesters in 2012 and only 1 semester in 2013. In order to switch semesters like I did, I had the approval from both head of department (Electrical & Electronic Engineering) and Registry.

Although I was on holiday during January 2013 semester (when PTPTN loan for 2013 session 1 was given), I did spend the loan money for my tuition fees for September 2012 semester. However, the officer said they have to stick to their policy, which is they decide the amount that can be exempted based on my transcript. When PTPTN banked in the moneyto me and I was not registered to any semester, I were considered ineligible to receive that money even though I really used it to pay for my studies. So, I have to repay them this amount which is quite significant to me.

I am reading through the contract again to see if there is any statement on this. There is nothing about it but the term "at discretion of the board". I hope you can give me some advise or opinion on my case. Thanks!

Question about YES Zoom Modem

Hi guys. I have signed the unlimited YES 4G unlimited Fiz Package 2 years ago and my contract has came to an end. I am highly interested in the new Yes Double Double plan. Since my YES Zoom modem (model: WIXFGR-134; see picture below) is still working fine, can it be used or it there any way to use it as a normal broadband? I tried to configure it but i could not find the option to login YES ID like another YES Zoom model (see attachment).

Beforehand, i have already checked the reviews about this camera shop. However, after calling 20+ camera shops in Penang, Lam Loong is the only one who has ready stock for the model pink Samsung MV900 i want. Somehow, i need it urgently as a gift for my other half. That is only why i bought it there.

The Day before the Purchase (19/02/2013)
At around 9pm, i called Lam Loong Photo House to enquire the availability of Samsung MV900. A lady answered my call and i was told that the camera model is stock ready and is priced at RM999.

First Day of Purchase (20/02/2013)
At 6:15PM, i arrived at Lam Loong Photo House and tested the pink Samsung MV900 demo unit displayed there. I was attended by a young man who addressed himself as Ah Wei. After testing the demo unit for 10 minutes, i confirmed that i want a new pink Samsung MV900. He quoted me RM990 with 8GB Micro SD Card and i agreed. Ah Wei then told me that the stock is at the other outlet and a deposit plus 30 minutes waiting is needed. I did not have an issue with that but Ah Wei had an issue with that. He started to ask that do i really need it by today or can i come back tomorrow. He even offered me the demo unit i just tested plus a free upgrade to 16GB Micro SD card. I rejected that offer and insisted to get the unit by today. Ah Wei agreed and went out of the shop. I paid a deposit of RM200.

At around 7.05PM, Ah Wei came back with my Samsung MV900. I was stunned that the box is so dirty. Ah Wei then explained that it is because of long term storage at the store room as white colour is their best seller instead of pink. I then asked why the seal is already opened. This time, an uncle who appears to be at the top of the shop's organization chart interfered and he replied that they need to check the accessories inside. Both explanations seem legit as the appearance of the camera is very very new. I did not get to touch the camera as Ah Wei opened the box and inserted the batteries and memory card inside. So, i did not get to see whether the date and time are already set or not. Everything looks okay but i forgotten to test the buttons. I paid the balance (RM790).

I brought it home and the box outlook got me very suspicious. Upon returning to my home, i did a full recovery scan on the camera's internal memory but the internal memory is too small to store a picture. I also found out that the 'Gallery' button beside the LCD screen, below the 'Home' button is loose and the clicking sound is very weird. Other than that, when i tried to connect to Wifi, i got a message: 'Trying to connect to the most recently accessed network..."
Besides that, when i tried to login my Facebook, i discovered that other than my own account email (kiki.lipton@gmail.com), there is another user fatimah_9393@yahoo.com
Again, i was stunned and i called Lam Loong immediately. Ah Wei denied it by saying that it is impossible. On my second call, i requested to change a new unit and Ah Wei agreed but that unit might take a few days time to arrive. I also told Ah Wei i will get this unit on Sunday as i will be at outstation from Thursday to Saturday. He said OK.

Second Day of Purchase (21/02/2013)
I was at Ipoh. I called Ah Wei and he told me that he has ordered the unit but he can't confirm the stock arrival date, possible 21st or 22nd.

Third Day of Purchase (22/02/2013)
I was at Cameron Highlands. I called Ah Wei and insisted i want a sealed one. He replied that the stock has not arrived yet and regarding the seal issue, they still have to check the accessories so no promise.

Fourth Day of Purchase (23/02/2013)
I was on my way back to Penang. I called Ah Wei and i was told that the unit has arrived and it is ready to be picked up.

Fifth Day of Purchase (24/02/2013)
I went to the shop, asked for Ah Wei. He got me new sealed unit unwillingly (there was no smile on his face). Now only i noticed that a few compartments from the new box are missing from the used set he gave me. Case solved!

Is my newly bought camera a used unit?

Hi. I just bought a pink Samsung MV900F as a gift for my other half today from badly-reputated Lam Loong Gurney Plaza (http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1129437/all). I only bought from them because i need it urgently and i have called 20+ camera shops in Penang, only this shop has ready stock.

At first, i paid them a deposit of RM200 and i have waited half an hour for them to get the stock then paid the balance RM790. The box was not sealed (opened) and the box was dirty. I asked why the box is opened and they replied that they have to check every unit to ensure no damage was incurred during delivery process. I also asked why the box is so dirty and they answered that the unit is long kept in store room because white colour is their best seller, not pink. The unit appearance was very good and new.

Only after i brought it home, i noticed that one of the buttons beside the screen is shaky and the clicking sound is weird compared to the other buttons. I thought it is only manufacture problems until i tried to connect to Wifi. Surprisingly, i got this message.

Immediately, i called them to enquire. They said impossible. Again, i called and this time i requested to change a unit and they agreed. I am looking forward to receive my new unit this coming weekend.

Guys, is my newly bought camera a used one??
