System stops responding after a while

The problem here is that my system stops responding after a while when playing 3D games. WHen not gaming, it runs fine.

I've tried multiple (5 so far) 3D games, with the same result.

My system is a 2.8GHz P4 with HT, 768MB of DDR-400MHZ RAM, and a 6600GT AGP.

It was running fine until 2 days ago.

I have reinstalled Direct X 9.0C and also the nVidia drivers for the card.

Also reconfigured my BIOS for fail-safe defaults.

Graphic card is not overheating. Runs at 40 degrees Celsius idle and the ambient is pretty cold(0-10 degrees C). Graphic card is not overclocked.

By stop responding, I mean:
Monitor detects no signal.
Sound will stop.
However, the fans, neon and power lights are still on. HDD LED shows no activity.

Weird, no? =( Can anyone think of a solution to this problem?

Windows XP 32-bit SATA drivers for Toshiba L300

I just got myself a Toshiba L300. It does not come with an OS installed, and there is no driver CD, nor is there any SATA driver support on the Toshiba website.

It came with a Linux installed, and I reformatted it to WIndows XP using the 'Compatibility mode' for SATA. Now, when I try to run Windows XP or try to install a fresh copy of Windows XP under AHCI enabled, it will not recognize my hard disk.

I've been infected with this really annoying virus, and I wish to reformat my computer with AHCI enabled.

I realize that I must do the F6-thingy during Windows setup and load the SATA/RAID drivers, but Toshiba does not have any support for this.

So what I am looking for is the files that I need to load onto a floppy so that I can press F6 during windows install/slipstream into the CD such that I can install Windows XP with AHCI enabled.

Attached with this post is a picture of my system devices to give a better idea of what chipset I am using =S I'm not sure if it helps or not..

P.S. When I first had this laptop, it came installed with Intel Matrix Storage Manager. I uninstalled it. I assume that the SATA driver can be found in the storage manager thingy, and decided to look it up, and this is what I found on the Intel website:

QUOTE

F6 Installation Method

Perform the following steps to install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver during operating system setup:

Press the F6 key when prompted in the status line with the Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver message. This message appears at the beginning of Windows* XP setup (during text-mode phase).
Note: Nothing will happen immediately after pressing F6. Setup will temporarily continue loading drivers. You will then be prompted with a screen asking you to load support for mass storage device(s).
Press the S key to Specify Additional Device.
You will be prompted to Please insert the disk labeled Manufacturer-supplied hardware support disk into Drive A: When prompted, insert the floppy disk containing the following files: IAAHCI.INF, IAAHCI.CAT, IASTOR.INF, IASTOR.CAT, IASTOR.SYS, and TXTSETUP.OEM and press the Enterkey.
After pressing Enter, you should be presented with a list of available SCSI Adapters. Select your controller from the list. The up and down arrow keys can be used to scroll through the list as all controllers may not be visible. The list may include:
Intel® 82801ER SATA RAID Controller
Intel® 82801FR SATA RAID Controller
Intel® 82801GR/GH SATA RAID Controller
Intel® 82801GHM SATA RAID Controller
Intel® 631xESB/632xESB SATA RAID Controller
Intel® 82801R/DO/DH SATA RAID Controller
The next screen should confirm your selected controller. Press the Enter key again to continue.
At this point, you have successfully F6'ed in the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver and Windows setup should continue. Leave the floppy disk in the floppy drive until the system reboots. Windows setup will need to copy the files from the floppy again to the Windows installation folders. Once Windows setup has copied these files again, you should then remove the floppy diskette so that Windows setup can reboot as needed.
During Windows setup, create a partition and file system on the RAID volume as you would on any physical disk.

Later on I found that you could get the files IAAHCI.INF, IAAHCI.CAT, IASTOR.INF, IASTOR.CAT, IASTOR.SYS, and TXTSETUP.OEM from the setup. I tried it and it didn't work. So I tried installing it, and it appears I can't because I don't have the right processor (Running on a celeron - it's not mentioned u can use a celeron - requirements are dual cores, etc.) - THen how did I install it the last time? o.O

I really need help on this =(
