Vitality Sensor Wii

It appears that the Wii Vitality Sensor aims to do more than just "provide information to the users about the body's inner world." Herald Sun is reporting that Nintendo staff at E3 discussed how the peripheral can measure fluctuations in the electrical conductivity of skin - much like in polygraphs, aka Lie Detectors.

Such fluctuations are significant in detecting if a person is lying because it correlates with the changes in emotions like fear, anger and desire.

While specific games utilizing the Wii Vitality Sensor - the peripheral that attaches to your finger to read your pulse - have yet to be announced, "You can imagine games along "truth or dare" lines being developed for fun at home on a Nintendo Wii fitted with a Wii Vitality Sensor," noted the newspaper.

If this be the case, you might want to keep it away from your parents just in case they quiz you about why you were out late last night. I also foresee a "guest appearance" of the WVS on The Moment of Truth.

[attachmentid=1022584]

SOurce

The single-player component starts the player off with a lowly Pokemon which must venture forth into the wild in order to train against wild Pokemon (including some menacing boss fights), capture new Pokemon and earn currency which can be used to upgrade your roster.

Once your Pokemon are strong enough they can be entered in the Battle Royal which pits twelve trainers against each other in a frantic last-man-standing bout. The fun doesn't stop there, either - up to four players can take on the Battle Royal together via local multiplayer in both competitive and co-operative modes.

Max and the Magic Marker

Max & the Magic Marker is a physics based 2D platform game, in which the player controls the boy Max and his Magic Marker. While Max enables good old platforming fun, the marker provides the game’s signature feature: the ability for the player to draw directly inside the game world where everything drawn becomes physical objects. This feature is used to complete levels and overcome challenges but it also provides the player with a unique tool that in itself is fun to play around with.

The objective of the Max project is:

* To reinvent and celebrate the 2D platformer
* To make a game that you can play with – not just play
* To utilize the drawing mechanic in an speedy action game
* To make a game that is for everyone

The story
Like most kids Max loves to draw. One day he gets a mysterious marker in the mail. There is no letter attached – only the plain orange marker. Max decides to test it right away, sits down and starts drawing. He draws a monster but as soon as he finishes the lines on the paper start moving and to Max’s great surprise the monster jumps off the paper and suddenly stands in all its glory in the middle of Max’ room. A couple of Max’ drawings lying around on the floor and without warning, the monster jumps right into one of them. Stunned by surprise Max now sees how the Monster starts messing around with his drawings, making them all weird painting moustaches on everything and messing things up. Max realizes that he has to follow the monster to set everything right. So he draws himself on the same drawing that the monster is in and immediately finds himself inside the drawing. The game begins.

Max is ten years old. He is the cool and creative boy every man thinks he once was. He is fast, agile, knows no fear and makes cool moves. Max has a magic marker that makes everything he draws come to life helping him on his adventures. The main enemy is “The Monster”. He is a wacko purple nut job of a monster. He is not really dangerous to Max as such, he does not bite, fight or shoot fireballs. But he provokes Max by messing with his drawings and when Max chases him he makes all kinds of obstructions to prevent Max from catching him. In some levels he challenges Max to duel in different disciplines, e.g. racing.

Controls
Max and the Magic Marker is in our opinion the perfect game for the Wii – making use of the nunchuck for Max’s movement and the Wii Remote for drawing.

Drawing
The drawing is of course Max & the Magic Markers unique feature and it is designed to make the game something that you want to play and experiment with. The most important mechanic of the drawing is of course that it draws physical shapes. Physics gets applied to the drawing when the player has drawn something and let goes of the pen. The more ink used in the shape, the heavier it will be. Drawings can be deleted by the player, or when left behind delete themselves, and the ink used will return to the marker.

Physics
It is not only with the drawing that physics is a central mechanic in Max & the Magic Marker. The whole game world is a physical environment and most challenges are based on physical objects and their behavior in relation to Max.

Audio
The audio in the game is made by Analogik, an ensemble renowned for their unique mix of balkan music and hip hop. It’s beautiful!

Nice ar ??
Source

TOO many im starting to get confuse

Several listings at GameStop's site earlier today revealed Guitar Hero: Van Halen. The listings have since been pulled, but we managed to take a screen cap for you, which you can see past the break. It's a game that has been rumored for a little while now, and would be Activision's next logical step following Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Guitar Hero: Metallica. Each listing at GameStop's site points to an August 4 release for the title on PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii. So what are you waiting for, Activision? Just announce the thing already!

Source

Last month, Nintendo announced the formation of Project Sora, a new studio created from the combination of Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai's Sora Ltd. and a pile of Nintendo's money. This week, the new company took out a full-page ad in Famitsu seeking new employees.

The ad reiterates that Sora is working on "something that Nintendo can't create by themselves." Nintendo president Satoru Iwata also has quotes in the ad, which provide one small detail: "I am asking for something special here, something that isn't Smash Bros.," Iwata says. While it's entirely possible Sora or another studio is also working on another Smash Bros. title, the mysterious game that the developer is focusing on right now is something else. We don't even know which system it will involve!

Copied from http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/18/project-...mash-bros-game/

Awards goes to .....

Super Mario Galaxy voted 'best game' by BAFTA

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has handed out its annual video game awards, and this year's top honor went to ... Super Mario Galaxy. Nintendo's topsy-turvy Wii platformer beat out Call of Duty 4, Fallout 3, Fable II, Grand Theft Auto IV and Rock Band in being crowned "Best Game." (Guess that settles it.)

Meanwhile, Call of Duty 4 earned the title of "People's Choice" winner based on votes placed via BAFTA's website. In an epic upset, Grand Theft Auto IV won exactly ... zero awards, despite being nominated in seven categories. That's alright; it's selling just fine. You'll find the full list of categories and respective winners after the break.

Alright, perhaps "debate" is a somewhat enthusiastic label for a question none of us have ever seriously considered. Which is more worthy of a prestigious award -- the cratered theater of war in Activision's Call of Duty 4, or the smiling planetoids of Super Mario Galaxy? We can't come up with a way to decide, which is precisely why we're grateful that the GAME British Academy Video Games Awards (for games that are sold by GAME) have decided to lump both into the "Best Game" category:

* Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
* Fable II
* Fallout 3
* Grand Theft Auto IV
* Rock Band
* Super Mario Galaxy

Before you object to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' seemingly outdated choices, note that the period of valid entries spans October 26, 2007 to December 31, 2008 due to an earlier delay in ceremonies. The messy result, of course, is two Novembers duking it out. You'll see the rest of the quality-riddled categories after the break.

ACTION & ADVENTURE

* Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
* Dead Space
* Fable II
* Grand Theft Auto IV
* Prince of Persia
* Tomb Raider: Underworld

ARTISTIC ACHIEVEMENT

* Assassin's Creed
* Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
* Dead Space
* Gears of War 2
* LittleBigPlanet
* Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

BEST GAME

* Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
* Fable II
* Fallout 3
* Grand Theft Auto IV
* Rock Band
* Super Mario Galaxy

CASUAL

* Boom Blox
* Buzz! Quiz TV
* Guitar Hero: World Tour
* LittleBigPlanet
* SingStar Vol. 2
* Wii Fit

GAMEPLAY

* Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
* Grand Theft Auto IV
* Left 4 Dead
* Mario Kart Wii
* Rock Band
* Super Mario Galaxy

HANDHELD

* Geometry Wars: Galaxies
* God of War: Chains of the Olympus
* The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
* Patapon
* Professor Layton and the Curious Village
* Soul Bubbles

MULTIPLAYER

* Buzz! Quiz TV
* Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
* Gears of War 2
* Left 4 Dead
* Mario Kart Wii
* Rock Band

ORIGINAL SCORE

* Assassin's Creed
* Dead Space
* Fable II
* Fallout 3
* LittleBigPlanet
* Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

SPORTS

* FIFA 09
* Football Manager 2009
* Motorstorm Pacific Rift
* Pure
* Race Driver: GRID
* Wii Fit

STRATEGY

* Advance Wars: Dark Conflict
* Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3
* Ninjatown
* Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution
* SOCOM: US Navy Seals Tactical Strike
* Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise

STORY AND CHARACTER

* Assassin's Creed
* Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
* Fable II
* Fallout 3
* Grand Theft Auto IV
* Mass Effect

TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENT

* Assassin's Creed
* Fable II
* Fallout 3
* Grand Theft Auto IV
* LittleBigPlanet
* Spore

USE OF AUDIO

* Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
* Dead Space
* Gears of War 2
* Grand Theft Auto IV
* LittleBigPlanet
* Super Mario Galaxy

BAFTA ONE'S TO WATCH AWARD in association with Dare to Be Digital

* Boro-Toro
* Origamee
* VegeMe

Night Game WiiWare

Will this game puts you asleep or excited ?

Details from an article
The first trailer for Nicalis's Night Game is out, and we find ourselves utterly charmed. The sleepy-time color scheme and sedate music gives the game a mellow feel that should make it relaxing even if the puzzles prove challenging -- sort of like Soul Bubbles, which is a nice thing to say about a game.

Night Game appears to be a platformer starring a rolling ball, which, we're guessing, is controlled by tilting the Wiimote. It's a simple concept, but even the amount of variation in the objects seen here with which to interact -- hanging chains, see-saws, wagons, etc. -- combined with whatever the ball controls are should make for an interesting experience. Especially at a WiiWare price!

The game will be comprised of the songs Guitar Hero fans liked the most from Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero III and Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. All of these repackaged songs from the earlier games will be remade to work with all of Guitar Hero World Tour’s instruments. Guitar Hero Greatest Hits will be out sometime within the next two quarters for the Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation 3.

Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits will appear on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii, bringing full-band versions of major songs that have appeared in past guitar-only iterations. Greatest Hits marks the first major Guitar Hero title to not appear on the PlayStation 2.

Both Greatest Hits and the new Nintendo DS game will arrive over the summer. That Nintendo DS game is likely to be Guitar Hero: Modern Hits, which has been previously revealed via trademarks and listings but never officially confirmed.

In addition, Activision Publishing president Mike Griffin revealed that the company is planning a "major restage" of the franchise with "all new differentiated Guitar Hero products" in the second half of the year, presumably in the fall holiday season.

The three Guitar Hero games join Guitar Hero: Metallica, which hits PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 29, followed by PlayStation 2 and Wii editions later on. Activision is also planning to debut the spin-off DJ Hero franchise at some point in 2009.

As for Guitar Metallica

Guitar Hero: Metallica for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 drops March 29 here in the United States, with Wii, PS2, and overseas releases planned for early May.

Along with the 28 Metallica songs included on the disc, Guitar Hero: Metallica will also feature an estimated 20 tracks from musical acts that the band found inspirational over the years, including Queen, Bob Seger, Alice in Chains, and many others.

Full song list has revealed

Guitar Hero Metallica

"All Nightmare Long"
"Battery"
"Broken Beat & Scarred"
"Creeping Death"
"Cyanide"
"Disposable Heroes"
"Dyers Eve"
"Enter Sandman"
"Fade To Black"
"Fight Fire With Fire"
"For Whom The Bell Tolls"
"Frantic"
"Fuel"
"Hit The Lights"
"King Nothing"
"Master of Puppets"
"Mercyful Fate" (Medley)
"My Apocalypse"
"No Leaf Clover"
"Nothing Else Matters"
"One"
"Orion"
"Sad But True"
"Seek & Destroy"
"The Memory Remains"
"The Shortest Straw"
"The Thing That Should Not Be"
"The Unforgiven"
"Welcome Home (Sanitarium)"
"Wherever I May Roam"
"Whiplash"

Other Artists

"No Excuses" by Alice In Chains
"Turn The Page" by Bob Seger
"Albatross" by Corrosion of Conformity
"Am I Evil?" by Diamond Head
"Stacked Actors" by Foo Fighters
"Hell Bent For Leather" by Judas Priest
"Demon Cleaner" by Kyuss
"Tuesdays Gone" by Lynyrd Skynyrd
"Beautiful Mourning" by Machine Head
"Blood And Thunder" by Mastodon
"Evil" by Mercyful Fate
"Armed and Ready" by Michael Schenker Group
"Ace of Spades" by Motorhead
"Stone Cold Crazy" by Queen
"Mother of Mercy" by Samhain
"War Ensemble" by Slayer
"Mommy's Little Monster" by Social Distortion
"War Inside My Head" by Suicidal Tendencies
"Toxicity" by System of a Down
"Black River" by The Sword
"The Boys Are Back in Town" by Thin Lizzy

The Beatles: Rock Band launching worldwide on 9/9/09
Rock Band Beatles
MTV, Harmonix and the Beatles’ Apple Corps. LTD. announced today that they will partner to create a video game based on the music of the Beatles, slated for release before the end of 2009.

Okay, so it will be a Rock Band game. Apple Corps LTD., Harmonix and MTV Games have announced that rock music's dream cast, The Beatles, will be reduced to multicolored note charts on 9/9/09, when the "The Beatles: Rock Band" launches worldwide on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii.

The "unprecedented, experiential progression through and celebration of the music and artistry of The Beatles" will allow players to tackle a cavalcade of culturally monumental songs via mic, drums and guitars, all included in a Limited Edition Premium bundle for $250 (all platforms) and "modeled after instruments used by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr throughout their career." Standalone guitars will also be available ($100), as will separate game discs ($60, all platforms) for those already surrounded by Instrument Protagonist equipment. According to the press release, The Beatles: Rock Band will be compatible with all prior Rock Band instruments and "other current music-based game peripherals."

And now we wait until September. God, we hope the person behind the store counter is named Jude. It's going to be SO funny when we ask for a copy.

Update: Speaking to an MTV representative, we confirmed that despite the "collaborative decision" to append the Rock Band brand, The Beatles will remain a "custom, standalone, dedicated game experience." MTV and Harmonix are not willing to discuss matters regarding DLC or song importation yet.
