"OS UNAVAILABLE", the screen said. Anybody HELP!

Hi, I'd like to ask for Lowyat forumers' help on this matter.

My friend told me that last night, after she defrag-ed her notebook, it kept stating that the OS was unavailable. She tried to restart it several times by to no avail, it still suffered from the same prob. Right now she's driving her way from Cameron Highlands back to KL to try to save work-related data on her Local Disk D, which she'd need to use by tomorrow. So, we're tight on time right now. Later today, she will go to Lowyat to try & save her data while browsing for a new notebook

Here is a lil bit of info about her lappie I know of.
-Her laptop was a Hyundai-sumthin (I forgot)
-bought like in 2006.
-There are several prominent probs with her lappie:
1. it heats up easily & restarts on its own whenever that happens
2. could not stream AT ALL (even on YouTube!)
3. wouldn't play anything video related
-Once, she sent it for repair, the technician told her that her C: partition was very unstable & she was better off buying a new lappie.

So, anyone here know of any ways to:
a) save the data in D: & transfer it ASAP (by today, coz she'd need to drive all the way back to Cameron early tomorrow)
b) any way to save her lappie (dun ask me why her parents still wanna use it as a hand-me-down)
b) any notebooks that is good gaming-wise with RM1500-2500 budget? (the lower, the better)

Anyone have a clue on how to handle this matter, please do reply~!!

Still didn't hear from the dealer, called but got engage tone...
My luck then. (whether good or bad, I'm STILL not sure yet....)

anyhoo,
GOT SOME MORE PROBS.....
now it involves the Internet Explorer

Currently is having major probs with my 4530.
IE lagged like sh;t. literally. And it got worst by the day
I can't even type down anything properly.
The processor seemed to be overworking (from 30% to over 60%) every time i use IE.
Thus, I haven't turned the notebook since this afternoon
(is currently using univ com lab)

I've asked my bro last night to take a look at it.
He scanned the 4530, & found out that there was no virus, etc whatsoever.
So, he said he'll do a re-run tonight, maybe something was amiss.

what is happening here...?
