Negative Courier Service

I am hoping this post can gain traction for people like me, who have had negative experiences with any of the courier services. I tried looking in the forum, but could not find any dedicated posts, although, I might have missed them out.

My experience is as such:
Company: Pos Malaysia
Service: International Small Packet
Destination: From Malaysia to USA
Type: Parcel
Value: More than RM500

I have sent out a parcel via Pos Malaysia (a pair of earphones), via small packet delivery, to USA. It is unregistered, but I have used this service before, it arrived at the destination (Australia) promptly. It has not reached the destination, despite the expected delivery date saying it is within 2 working weeks. It has been 2 months now. As the office was in my hometown, Cheras, while I am currently in Penang, I could not go back now, at least not immediately. Before blaming me for using this type of service/company, such and such, I would just like to say that I am still the victim. I could not sue the Pos Malaysia, like countless victims before me, and can only try to steer people away, so as not to repeat my experience.

I hope everyone can share their experience, whether it is just a piece of paper with no significance, or a $10,000 parcel.

Food Vending Machines in Malaysia

Well, I am currently a student in USM, engineering campus. The trouble with this campus is that without a vehicle, it is difficult to get food in the midnight. Sure, we have mamak stall outside, but walking/cycling are dangerous in the midnight, never know which drunkard will slam the car into you.

So, I am trying to propose the 24 hours food vending machines to the management of the campus. I understand over the limited selections and choices of the food vending machine in Malaysia, so I would like to poll some opinions and ideas on the matter. It would be better if you have know any companies that is involved in the business.

I did some simple search and so far, the results are not that promising.

What do you guys and gals think?

Turning Point

I ventured into photography 2 years ago, starting from the D90. Took lots of photos with it and its kit lens. Then I had to change the shutter 4 months ago. Immediately, I sold it, got myself its upgrade, a used D7000.

Trouble is, something does not seem right, the pictures always out of focus and the colour is dull( After selling the D90, I was left with 50mm 1.8d and 24mm Ai prime). I tried to fine tune the autofocus and calibrated the camera white balance. Then it was hit and miss, sometimes I got a very good result, most of the times, I ended up deleted them.

Then, I got some kind of freelancing at events (unpaid, though, was trying to learn and get experience), ended up unsatisfying, though. Seems like shooting like a madmen, hoping to score a keeper is very difficult, especially the post processing part.

I found out that the passion I had when I held the D90 was gone. I no longer picked up the camera often, and the last time I went to a trip, I did not take more than 100 pictures, which is depressing. Now, I am trying to sell the D7000, and perhaps change (or downgrading from DSLR) to a compact camera, trying to relearn. I think I will not go for changeable lens just yet, so sticking to fix lens.

Right, so that's my story. I wanna ask forumers here, putting equipment aside, have you ever feel the fire and interest of photography become so small that you nearly gave up on it? Did you somehow regain them or makes the passion comes alive? And do you think changing from dslr to compact camera will help to make me learn from basics, or just that I spending needless money to get some new things, just so to satisfy myself? Well, DSLRs are heavy...

Nikon Service Center

I just bought a used 80-200, f/2.8D and there were quite a number of fungus in quite a number of elements. Then there is a problem with the focusing ring engaging in manual mode. Although, the picture quality is still outstanding.

The thing is, because this was my first "very expensive" lens purchase, I sent to Nikon Service Center in Times square, waiting for quotation. The thing is, I am not sure how much they would charge me, so I don't know what to expect. I was wondering if any forumers have the experience with the Nikon Service Center? Like how much they charged, how long it took and the quality of the repair?

Thanks.

The popular Dilemmas

Allow me to introduce myself, I have just gotten offer into USM and UNIMAS (To those who do not know, they have separate application, so you may get both offer). For UNIMAS, I got "International Economy"; For USM, I got "Aerospace Engineering". And talking about stuck in the middle, both of the courses are unrelated at all (unless you put money as a factor). Mind you, I only got offer of Aerospace Engineering after I appealed (despite I put it as one of my top choice in initial application).

My PA and Physics are A while Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics are B in STPM. I was devastated when I got offered at UNIMAS because I always hoped to get into science-based courses. Then I appeal, just for fun for the USM (It's free, would be sorry if I did not try). I came to accept the economy course, since, it is like science where we need analytical skills and less on relationship. Then, USM decided to offer me engineering course.

My situation is like you found a new lover, then your ex suddenly comes back into your life. Asking advises around, I got "Economy is where the money lies", "Engineering is where the challenge lies". For me, I need a career that promises guarantee to a stable salary(I am not aspired to be millionaire, just able to live comfortably).

I have always wanted to settle in Japan. Unfortunately, I heard engineering is tough in Japan (Super long working hour with unjustified pay, with high suicidal rate). Economy-wise, I could always have my post grad study there, then work hard to be recognised by big companies (Of course, this is on paper only).

And from what I see, aerospace graduates in Malaysia do not always settle in aviation/space sector, which is further confusing. I liked Aircraft and things that fly.

Of course, I can't ask you to choose for me, because you don't know me and it would be like pushing the responsibility to you. What I am hoping is how you dealt with the dilemmas and what would you do if you are in my shoes.

Thanks, everyone. I wish I have remembered this forum earlier.
