IDE HDD pin broken

I have this Maxtor 40GB HDD ..
i broke de 1st pin which is de RESET pin
so de BIOS couldn't detect de existance of this HDD..it won't let me boot to Windows
i have to pull out this HDD in order to enter Windows..
den i fix it to an external casing.. de windows detect de HDD
AND .. it shows de HDD (Maxtor 6E040L1 drive) name on de safely remove hardware at de bottom right
but in My Computer it wont show de HDD there..so i couldn't clik nething to open de drive..
after awhile it went off..
