Hotspot/tethering restriction based on websites

Do telcos impose any restriction in terms of the websites allowed to be access on tethering connection? If so, where can I find more info about those restrictions?

I'm on Hotlink Fast prepaid plan (not unlimited plan), currently travel to Johor. Unable to access few popular text-based websites for research, work and Q&A:
- github.com
- stackoverflow.com
- reddit.com

Chrome is giving error ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE. Tried the following to no avail:
- use different browser: Safari, Firefox
- clear browser cache
- reset connection
- restart device.

NOTE: these websites are accessible if directly access from phone.

Interestingly, it allows access to video website like Youtube via tether

Problem starting bike

Few years ago I bought a second hand Honda Wave, model 2011 I think, it'd been working fine for me.

I stopped riding for ~6 months during covid lockdown, then it cannot start at all. After replaced the battery with a new one at repair shop, it works again but with a problem. Let say I skip using the bike for one day, the following day it most likely will not be able to start, unless I do push start. Recently I didn't ride for a week as I was not in town, then even usual push start didn't work. After I kept retrying push start on slope for about one hour, it barely able to start again.

I asked a different shop that nowadays I normally do servicing with, they told me buying better/more expensive battery will NOT help, this is aging issue that most bike will face eventually. They advised me the best I can do is to let the bike engine runs at least 5 minutes everyday (which I'm not able to).

I wonder if anyone faced the same problem before, do you know if there's a way to fix it without changing bike

Thanks for reading this long question.

Cost of javascript framework vs vanilla javascript

Hi guys, I'm from back-end background, starting a social project, need suggestion regarding front-end cost (dev/test time, complexity). I wonder would the cost of using JS framework be higher than vanilla JS? If so, how much higher it could be, relatively? I'm asking this as I'm evaluating whether it makes sense to apply JS framework in this project. I might outsource the front-end work to experienced front-end dev, or learn front-end and do it myself. Current preference is outsource for faster progress).

The project involves 2 main things:
1. End-to-end survey flow that includes landing page, survey question pages (latest revision has 40+ questions spread across 5 pages), invitation/referral page, emails.
2. Result page - for participants to query outcome after survey is concluded. Output also include graph/chart for statistic.

JS will be used for input validation, interactive UI, back-end integration, maintain answers at client side across question pages, graph/chart render.

Thanks yeah.

Mid-tier portable speakers vs cheaper 2.0 speakers

Hello, first time posting in Audiophiles, an audio noob question. For those mid-range single-body portable speakers (e.g. Bose Soundlink Mini 2, JBL Flip 4, Creative iRoar Go), is their audio quality (not loudness) comparable to slightly cheaper 2.0 speakers (e.g. Edifier R1280DB, Creative Gigaworks T20+BT AptX receiver)? Thanks in advance

Background of the question:
I'm looking for small speaker that supports wireless + line-in, to add "cafe ambience" to small apartment living space ~350 square feet. Mainly playing soothing music, jazz songs, a bit of orchestra once a while, doesn't need strong "boom boom boom" effect commonly found in party music. Probably will keep volume at 30%-50%, afraid might disturb neighbours. I particularly looking for small speakers due to space constrain. In fact R1280DB's size is a bit larger than my preference, but I'll keep it as last option for the moment. Of course, I don't expect pro level audio quality, just want to see what's the best I can get within the size constrain. Have been swinging between those two categories, couldn't find cross categories comparison videos for reference.

--- Update 9/24
By the way, I do have limit on budget. Originally $300, then raised to $600 after some research (doesn't mean I must spend as much as $500-$600 though).

How renting condo through agent listing works?

The last time I rented condo through agent listings on iProperty/PropertyGuru was 4 years ago. It was pretty straightforward. Recently I encounter a very different experience that I find confusing.

Saw a listing for a condo, contacted agent, was told rented. The next day saw another agent listing the same unit asking +RM50 rental, called them, was told rented. One week later another agent listing the same property asking rental +RM100, found it weird and called them... again was told rented. Things I guess worth mention:
- They were listed by different agents from different agencies.
- Those listings I inquired do mentioned that the photos are for the actual unit.
- No tenant info was asked.

I ran into similar experience for three different units in different condos, say condo B and condo C. They are old condos in the same mature region.

My confusion is that, if a unit is indeed rented, why it kept being re-listed by different agent with different asking rental? Anyone familiar with this, mind to shed the light? Thanks.

Tenancy issue - property condition issue

Let say rented property has problem. Landlord attempted to fix but could not get it fixed. How such case is supposed to be resolved usually? Is it common to have clause in tenancy agreement to cover this, say tenants have the right to move out prior to end of contract, with deposit refunded?

And... is pest issue under responsibility of landlord or tenant? It could be very hard to spot pest issue before move in, since it's common to have cleaning done before arranging property view.

Thanks.

Noob questions for used Persona 2014 and Myvi 2015

Hi guys, I have few questions regarding following used cars. Thanks in advanced.

Car: Persona 2013/2014 auto, Myvi 1.3 2015 auto
Budget: RM 20K to 30K no loan.
Special need: Might need to sell the car after one or two years. If that doesn't happen, plan to use it for 3-5 years.
Non-factors: Bigger boot space for Persona; Better FC for Myvi 1.3;

Question 1:
If not mistaken Myvi 2015 has 5 years/150K km factory warranty. However, I'm not sure whether Perodua warranty is tied to car or to owner. Any idea if Perodua warranty will remain valid if I buy used Myvi?

Question 2:
If I need to sell the car after 1-2 years, I wonder which one will be having higher value depletion (incur more loss).

Question 3:
I read below points from two separate sources (I don't remember the source),
- Interior of Persona is both more comfortable and more spacious than Myvi.
- However, seat for Persona is lower than Myvi's, so less comfortable for driver with long leg (well... I consider myself long leg guy, 1.81m height).
Does anyone has experience for both of the two models? Can share your experience whether they are both valid points? I don't know if Persona High-Line's seat height adjustor will help though.

Question 4:
How customisable is Persona spec? For example, in spec brochure high-line seat uses leather while medium-line uses fabric, but there are many high-line listing with fabric seats (I actually don't like leather). My concern is that, how do we know what a high-line listing comes with?

Question 5:
This question is not related to car make/model... before commit to buy used car from owner/dealer who we don't know, is it common practice to send the car to mechanic for inspection? If yes, how much would such inspection cost roughly and how long it may take? (assume buyer pay the inspection cost)

I need to move to Klang Valley and stay there for 3 months, am researching small apartment (whole unit). It can be apartment or landed, as long as needs are met.
1. Fully furnished.
2. I need to work from home: Desk/chair comfortable for work with laptop. Good mobile internet signal at the property is essential, otherwise I'll be screwed.
3. I don't have car there: LRT station within walking distance. Supermarket, either reachable by LRT within few stations or reachable by walk.
4. No construction noise, please.
5. Gym, either within the apartment or reachable nearby.

Preferably with either balcony or window that can be open, as opposed to closed space.

Budget: $1300 - $1700

Pls PM me if there's a match.
Need advice on routine maintenance

Hi, I'm a totally noob in auto world, and I rarely drive. About two years back, I bought a second hand Vios 1.5E (2006) for my parents to replace their 24 years old car. They use it for point to point travelling within a small town, usually two to three times a day, for distance reachable from 5 to 15 minutes. The car itself appears to be in good condition, so far didn't face any issue except that its aircond was lacking on hot afternoon. I need advice on the following:

1. How often do we need to do routine maintenance usually? My dad did this two to three times a year, I wonder if this is too much considering the car's usage and condition. I was under impression that once a year is probably sufficient.

2. The car was recently sent to a different workshop for applying glass tint. While chit chatting we told the technician that the aircond is not cool enough, he did a check for us and found that it is too dusty and most probably has never been cleaned for a couple of years. So... this puzzles me, what kind of checks are advisable to be done during routine maintenance? Do we have to explicitly tell workshop that what kind of checks have to be done? I'm not sure if aircond should be part of routine.

Thanks.

My parents just subscribes Astro and decoder is connected to TV via red+yellow+white cable (I supposed that's known as RCA). However our TV only has one set of RCA ports and we need to use it for connection to DVD player. I notice that there's a HDMI port behind Astro decoder, and it comes with HDMI cable as well, so I try to connect it to TV's HDMI port. Too bad through HDMI connection there's neither video nor sound. Could someone pls enlighten me what might have gone wrong? Thx.

I have a little experimental logger, being test on following platforms:
- 32-bit Kubuntu (GCC 4)
- 32-bit Windows Vista (MinGW, GCC 3 and 4)

On Windows, the logger's test driver crashes intermittently (run the test for 10 to 20 times may encounter one crash), though so far haven't encounter issue on Kubuntu. Now I'm trying to debug using WinDbg, but have no idea how to proceed after seeing following messages:

I already downloaded Windows symbols to C:\Windows\Symbols and set it in WinDbg. Whenever I try to view call stack, it failed to load symbols for the "image00400000..." thingy, which I suppose is my test driver process. How do I generate/specify symbols for my test driver? With that output, is there anyway to figure out at which point the exception occured? Thanks.

There are two files in my environment: aaa.txt and bbb.txt. Consider following test script:

CODE

function test_func
{
for file in `ls *.txt`; do
echo "[$1] [$file]"
if [ "$1" = "$file" ]; then
echo "Match!"
else
echo "Not match"
fi
done
}

When invoke above function with one parameter, aaa.txt, I expect following output:

CODE

[aaa.txt] [aaa.txt]
Match!
[aaa.txt] [bbb.txt]
Not match

However, I got a different output instead:

CODE

[aaa.txt] [aaa.txt]
Not match
[aaa.txt] [bbb.txt]
Not match
[aaa.txt] []
Not match

Any idea what's wrong with that function?

--- added note ---
I aware that there are other way to get the expected output. I just want to figure out what is not right with that function.

I will be changing a new phone soon and most likely will be getting an Android phone. Would like to ask opinion from you guys, which is the best Android phone available in the market (or confirmed to be launch in March/April). Thanks

Friend function, why?

Knowing a bit about what friend function is, I was asked this question: what is the objective of friend function? For instance, when designing classes, we can have getter and setter to access private members; then what will be key factor to decide if we should have friend function?
