Hello

Would like to seek advise as per subject title especially those who have experienced / is experiencing it.

I’ll start with a general idea about my career so far :

Company 1 (5 years +)
I started off in a mid tier audit/tax firm specialising in corporate and individual tax compliance - basically a routine job mainly focusing on corporate tax computation and ad hoc tax advisory. Left the firm to seek exposure in other areas of taxation.

Company 2 (1 year +)
Was offered to specialize in tax investigation in another mid tier audit/tax firm. At the same time was also required to manage a portfolio of corporate tax compliance cases.

Company 3 (1 year + - current)
Again, specialising in tax investigation and with a portfolio of corporate tax compliance in Big 5 😂. 80% of cases are dealing with individual investigation cases. Basically doing a balance sheet for clients to analyse whether they had undeclared their income.

Reason to leave or consider to move out : I feel that my daily job is very administrative. Basically I will compile the required documents for the IRB and will prepare a draft balance sheet for client to analyse whether there is any under declared income. In a nutshell, trying to figure out how client spent their money with available income. Nothing related to tax 😂.

I just received an offer to work in a service industry to manage their tax affairs. It is a MNC and an opportunity to work for international tax (APAC). It will be a one man show reporting to the APAC CFO. The offer on the table is a 12% increment compared to what I am currently earning.

Should I consider the switch? Anyone who transitioned to commercial have any regrets and later on moved back to public practice?

Please advice.

Guys I bought a car from reputable company. Agreed trade in price for my car is RM4,000 and contract signed. Now they are forcing me to pay extra for tinting RM2,800 (outside selling RM1,500). If I don’t agree they will reduce my trade in car value with stupid excuse saying my car need to do repair here and there. Anyone faced this issue before?

Hello

Just received bonus from company yesterday evening and deposit immediately into my bank around 7pm. But yet to reflect into my account cos usually takes 24 hrs.

Problem is my bosses will be on leave from tmr onwards for CNY and will be back end of next week.

Usually the culture here is direct meet face to face for discussion whenever anyone resigns.

Is it safe to resign before money reflect in my account?

Work since : Graduate 23+

Worked in the same firm since i was a fresh graduate earning RM2,600. Now 5 years later at the age of 29 im earning RM5,200. Annual increment few hundred. Feel demotivated. Anyone changed job doing completely something different at the age of 30? My director told me stop dreaming and focus on my career path. It is too late to change.

Some background :

My friend (expat) bought furniture at a mega furniture fair back in June. He bought a set of dining table c/w chairs quoted to him at RM1,300 +. As usual the sales people tried to entice him to consider to buy another item to enjoy additional discounts. He agreed and went on to buy the “fair discount price” of a sofa. But the sales person said its ok if you are not sure on the purchase, you may just pay the deposit, and if you don’t like it you can cancel the deal later. The sales person pushed my friend to close the deal cos it was the last day (receipt time was 845pm). He agreed and paid the 30% deposit as required.
The problem is that in the sales order invoice there’s a term stating that any goods sold are not refundable or not exchangeable. So now its also my friend’s fault for not checking the invoice properly.
My friend called up the shop and none of their employees over there willing to help and solve the problem. The boss and manager was not at the shop. Called the manager in-charged and he was really rude and said that he will not deliver the dining table unless my friend pays the full price of the invoice. If no payment received after the 6th month, the deposit will be forfeited.
Total sales value (dining table + sofa) = RM4,500.00
Deposit paid RM1,350 (which is 30% of total sales value)
*The dining table set is the same value as the deposit paid.
It’s a fucking hand written invoice, and the sofa is not a ready stock.
So my friend suggested that since he already paid the deposit, please arrange to deliver the dining table to his house. The seller refused to act on it!
