The purpose I start this topic is to provide career advice (or second opinion) to the needy 'you' who are loss, stuck, confused, struggling, in doubt, in a dilemma or having issues with your career. If you want to look for constructive advice, try me!

About myself, I have over 10 years of professional work experience in the business world across multiple industries, and currently assumed with a managerial role in the company. I have my own understanding of the corporate world from an employee perspective. It doesn't matter who I am really, what matters is my comments to you, if you find them valuable.

Not sure if there are many working in China, the purpose I create this thread is to get all of us connected as community. There should be a lot of things that can be shared/discussed among us, especially for those who will still be back to Malaysia for good one day. Below are some topics we may be interested in:

Malaysian Universities & Colleges Ranking

If I remember correctly, Malaysia has 500+ higher institutions for tertiary education. Why there are no reputable rankings or at least tiers e.g. first, second tier and etc. out there after so many years?

Hope that there will be initiative to conduct the research. These references will be very useful for students, faculty, institutions, company recruitments, attracting foreign students, encouraging competitions, reduce victims for illegal or lousy institutions, and help improving the higher educational standard in Malaysia after all.

Banking in Malaysia for Malaysian working abroad

For Malaysian working abroad, do banks in Malaysia recognize the overseas income for loan or credit card application?

How are these incomes being viewed by the banks when assessing eligibility, total loan amount & LTV% for housing loan, and credit limit for credit cards? Are the rules same?

Retail Sales Career

Background
My good friend, after SPM graduation, spent a few years as Storekeeper for a stationary company, and then he spent quite a number of years as Van Sales to sell Energizer batteries and products to retail shops around Klang Valley area. The job is considerably ok but until 1+ years ago, the company is restructured and therefore he is forced to move on and work for a small company as Salesperson that sells handphone products. The job is unsatisfactory due to low pay averaging to 2.5K/m.

Suggestions
A 30+ working adult in KL with such a low pay is definitely insufficient due to many financial commitments. I have been strongly asked him to look for better job considering he has 10+ years working experience, and he’s very good at doing business with retail shops. I’m thinking he should look for a salesperson job for a big FMCG company e.g. Nestle, Diethelm, Coke and etc. Anyone from the industry can provide some help or advice?

I'm looking for a landed property such as double-storey in Cheras area with the expectations below:
- Good location with many conveniences e.g. within walking distance to shopping mall / shoplots / LRT stations. Assuming the family don't drive at all.
- Guarded community.
- Thought of Taman Midah (close to Tesco), and Taman Segar (close to Leisure Mall).
- Budget from 400K to 700K.

Chinese Renminbi to Ringgit

Due to recent hike of RM, I'm still holding a bunch of Chinese Yuan. What's your view on this, considering I'm willing to wait a while to transfer back the money to Malaysia?

It's always said RMB will rise, but apparently RM is much stronger. Also, I still need to convert RMB into USD then convert again into RM for the international transfer. All these currency exchange loss is so costly, maybe the best is to earn and hold RM instead.
