Using Smaller Rims compared to Bigger Rims

Hey guys, I'm driving a Ford Fiesta running on stock 195/50 16" rims. I'm trying to increase my low end torque so would changing my rims to 15" while keeping 195 width affect my handling/ cornering as opposed to my current stock rims? My rims are super heavy... around 9kg+. If I change to lightweight 15" advanti's it would be around 5kg per rim, which is a lot of difference in initial pick up right? Plus tyres are cheap

What about as opposed to 17"? Cornering and reaching top speed will definitely be faster right? But I don't always push my car to above 160 although the Fiesta can reach 200kmph. So the only cons I can think of is my ride will look a bit weird with smaller rims, but I don't really care as performance matters more to me. Besides I can always lower my car.

Please share share...

Ford Fiesta Engine Oil

OK guys, so here's my dilemma.

I drive a fairly new 1.6 Ti-VCT Ford Fiesta, with 4k mileage, and I'm considering to change my engine oil. The stock engine oil is Castrol Magnatec A1- 5w30 (Fully synthetic), which is similar to the one they provide for free at every 10k service.

However, Magnatec A1 and A5 (both 5w30) are extremely hard to find other than in the Ford service centre, which is ridiculously expensive (RM220 for 4l). I've been considering Castrol Edge (5w40) and Mobil One (5w50) as a replacement till I reach 10k km. However there have been differing POV's from different individuals whom I've consulted.

According to my girlfriend's dad (who previously ran a car workshop), he said he would prefer Mobil One over Castrol Edge as he said 5w40 is less viscous than 5w50 and is more prone to topping up, and also that Mobil One is more suitable for heavy driving (I rev a lot).

However, this is what one of another fellow said on the Ford Fiesta FB page when I pointed this out.

"Higher number more weight more viscous less flow. For 1.6 Ti-VCT, the VCT controlled by the oil jet, check the youtube for better info. The oil flow plays heavy role on this, oil might not be pumped to the chamber on time if heavy oil being used, thus might affect the performance, not to say damage the engine.

"Higher number more weight more viscous less flow. The oil flow plays heavy role on this, oil might not be pumped to the chamber on time if heavy oil being used, thus might affect the performance, not to say damage the engine."

Also, the Fiesta owner's handbook says 5w30 is the preferred oil. 5w40 and 10w40 oils can be used as long as they meet the ACEA A3/B3 standards but this two variants may cause fuel efficiency loss, bla bla bla etc...

So I don't know which one to choose now.... as I know, both oils that I stated are performance oils and also I can get them at a much cheaper price, compared to going to the Ford Service Centre.

Help please?

Thx!

Engineering Undergraduate Courses

Hey guys, just got my A Levels results a few days ago. I took Math, Chem, Physics and GP and got BBAB. Planning to do engineering but really can't decide on which to go for. My options are between Civil, Mechanical, Mechatronics and Chemical/Enviromental Engineering Undergrad program at Nottingham. I didn't take further maths in A Levels so I'm afraid that I would have trouble with Mechanical/ Mechatronics. Especially after hearing from my friends that Applied Statistics and Mechanics is damn hard. And I don't really fancy Chemistry. Civil seems like a good choice but many people said its hard and doesn't pay well locally. (Well I plan on migrating anyway after getting a MEng in Nottingham England). I read up on the Nottingham website and those Dr. Job books but they only provide vague information about these kinda jobs and the topics covered within the course duration. Eg: Dissertation/ Geotechnics, how am I supposed to know what they're about, whether its hard or not. Would like to know about job opportunities and accreditation for Chartered engineer status too, heard that UK is not accredited?

Comments and advice much appreciated, thank you.

Future Undergraduate Programs

Hey peeps, I'm currently doing my A Levels at TARC and taking Maths, Physics, Chemistry and GP. I need some advice on future career opportunities as I really can't make up my mind on which degree to take after completing this course.
Looking at the subjects I take, Engineering only seems to be the only course which seems logical. But I'm afraid that if I take the degree course I'll lose interest after a while as many people claim it to be very tough and I don't think that my Physics and Chemistry are that good. *I failed my Mid Course physics test today and am damn depressed.

I need more future career options and variation of degree courses.
P.S: I scored 8A's in SPM and am 17 this year (PTS student).

Really need advice on this. AS exams are in October already. I hope I do not waste my time on this course.

John's Workout Journal

Yeah, finally decided to start a workout journal to keep track of my progress. I’m still feeling pretty sore today from yesterday’s workout at the gym. But have to help my dad do chores and move rocks around the house later anyway. So I guess not much rest for today.

My goals are to:-
Reach a stable weight of >80kg by the end of this year.
Get toned and firm muscles along with the weight.

Current stats:-
17 yrs old, 71kg, 178cm, between an Ectomorph and Mesomorph, I think.

I don’t follow at programs like Rippetoe and err… Crossfit etc. I just do my own workout routine, so feel free to give comments and constructive criticism.
Need to gain weight!

Hey I'm new here and I need some advice on gaining weight and lean muscle mass. I'm 17 and around 5'9 (I think). I weigh 66kg. No matter how much I eat my weight doesn't seem to be increasing. What kind of supplements should I take? Whey protein or Weight Gain or what? I'm into bb also. My target to reach is 70kg+ and to look bulkier. I suppose I'm still too skinny based on the comments from youtube.

*Preferably 1 supplement fix all. Can't afford too much as still studying in college.

Ummm, this is my video link to see my progress.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hotdBruC960

Thx.
