Hi,

Can someone advise where I can get a fingerprint card from our Malaysian police? The fingerprint card will be used for me to submit application to obtain police clearance check from another country where I used to work (UAE). I read that only Bukit Aman provide the fingerprinting service. Any advise will be much appreciated. Tq.

Window screen to reduce dust

Just wondering, is there any product available at hardware shops that can be installed at windows to reduce the amount of dust entering, should I want to leave my window open? But at the same time it won't block air ventilation or light. Thanks!

Advice Needed on RPGT Related to JV Project

I have another question which has been bothering me, and I have no prior experience on this before, so would appreciate any advice from the sifus here.

Actually, I signed a joint venture agreement with a developer, together with two more other parties. The developer will develop our lands in return for a profit. For my case, I am not given a % of the development value, rather, I will be given a lump sum. As per agreement, I will be paid quarterly from the sales proceed. As of today, the developer is still in the process of converting the land title to commercial and residential.

My question is, since I have not receive any payment for my land, can I request to LHDN for waiver of RPGT till later date? Also, let say for some reason the developer delay the project and by the time they launch it, more than 5 years have passed from my initial purchase date, do I still need to pay RPGT? Bearing in mind I have not receive any payment at all.

Hi all,

I sold off a piece of land in November 2013, S&P dated the same. I purchased that land for less than 2 years. Today, I received the letter from LHDN on the RPGT tax required to be paid. The letter stated I'm subjected to 30% tax. I thought for transactions made before 1/1/2014, the tax is 15%? Please advise. Thanks!

I am travelling to Xinjiang this October with a few friends. We have booked the 12-days Silk Road Tour with a local tour operator over there in Xinjiang. I have also booked my flight to Urumqi. Due to the recent happenings in that region, I was told by some that if I mention in my visa application that I'm going to Xinjiang, most probably it won't be approved. Anyone with recent experience travelling to Xinjiang or Tibet (which suffers the same complication) can advise me? Thanks!

Feel free to share photos of your indoor/ balcony gardens for those of us living in high rise buildings with no land for gardening. I love to see the ideas on Apartment Therapy, would love to see and get ideas from forumers here too.

I'll start with mine:

Balcony green corner... succulents, cactus, rose moss in hanging planter box, try sowing sunflowers and propagating crawling vines...

Indoor corner

Even though it's a small green corner, it's not easy to maintain and my plants have been attacked by mealybugs. Still lots more to do, planning to add more hanging planters, do the balcony flooring (artificial grass? wooden planks?)....

Just to understand the mindset of the younger generations Gen-Y and Millennium Babies, if you are sharing accommodation, either as a group renting a house together or as a landlord staying together with a tenant, what are some of the unspoken rules for harmony staying? I'll start with one: One of the common rule of renting a room is not allowed to bring partners home to overnight. Is this rule still a valid point or is it a "kolot" one nowadays?
