Puppies urgently looking for adopters in Penang.

We notice a pregnant dog in our neighbourhood a couple of weeks back. She has obviously been abandon as she was wearing a choking chain when we first saw her. Has been feeding her as frequent as we can since then.

On 5th June 2010, she has given birth to 8 puppies. All are in the pink of health. They are currently taking shelter at a vacant house. We are unable to bring them home as we have already 7 dogs of our own.

We know that they are not ready for adoption yet but would like to start looking for potential adopters now because we are unsure when the house owner will come back and kick the mama dog and her puppies out from the house.

We have taken all their photos and hope that they will be able to find a good home. The mother dog is up for adoption, too just in case anyone is interested. She is very calm and loving. Gets along well with people and other dogs.

19.06.2010 - Mama dog took all her puppies and hid under a deep drain. We search all over the place for the puppies, found them and place them inside the vacant house again. Mama dog, again took one by one the puppies and hid in a different drain. This time, the drain is small and we are unable to squeeze in to take the puppies out. We left feeling worried that when it rains, the puppies will be soaked.

21.06.2010 - Rain heavily this morning. We immediately go back to the place to search for the mama dog and her puppies. no where in sight and could not be found in the drain. At last saw her hiding under a car milking her 8 puppies. They were all wet. We quickly gathered all the puppies, put them into a basket and bring them inside the house again. Mama dog followed near behind and is now staying in the vacant house together with her puppies temporarily.

KLANG DOG POUND : IS THIS YOUR DOG?

This dog gazes out expectantly, hoping that his owner will come to get him out

1 DECEMBER, KLANG – Majlis Perbandaran Klang (MPK) is urging dog-owners and animal rescuers to come forward to claim more than 40 dogs in their dog pound, caught by their dog-catchers one week ago. The municipal had contacted SPCA Selangor and requested for help in creating awareness about the plight of the pound dogs, as their time was quickly running out.

The dogs were caught in the Bayu Perdana, Jalan Meru and Bandar Baru Klang area. Many of the dogs were wearing collars and were in good condition – they seemed to be lost or straying pets. The others appeared to be strays or long-abandoned pets, they are in poor condition – emaciated, infested with ticks and with skin problems. Both pet and stray dogs appeared to be distressed – the pound was the last place on earth where they wanted to be.

Pet and stray dogs are waiting for a second chance at the MPK Pound

The SPCA Selangor Inspectors and vet visited the pound on Tuesday, bringing with them 2 big bags of dog food and medication. The dogs were being fed bread and water daily and the kennels were cleaned out by the staff.

Many of the strays have skin problems and are emaciated

MPK and SPCA Selangor have agreed that it will impose compulsory neutering as a condition of release for the claimed dogs – to prevent unwanted litters in the future. Owners can claim their dogs until the 9th of December 2009, after which the dogs will be open for adoption to animal rescuers and animal lovers until the 14th of December 2009. There will be a discounted rate on the reclaimation fee for all dogs.

Unclaimed dogs will be euthanized on the 15th of December 2009.

URGENT: Conan Needs Help

A call from an anonymous lead us to the rescue of Conan.

Conan, is currently safe in the hands of the vet. According to the vet, Conan might have got hit by a car about 4 weeks ago. Both his knee caps' bones were shattered during the accident. Because no-one is there to attend him then, the wound did not heal properly and the bones actually grew "abnormally" which now cause him unable to stretch his two back legs. Therefore, when he walks, his two back legs look like as if he is crawling. Otherwise, he is a healthy 1 year old doggie.

The vet said that he is currently in no pain and can live like a normal dog. We are appealing to the public to help give Conan a home as we would not want to see him end up on the road again. With his condition, he is sure to be bullied by other dogs.

We want to give him a second chance to live on despite his disability to walk like a normal dog. If he could survive through the past 4 weeks, we are sure it's a sign that he does not or not willing to give up his life so easily.
