Smart switch questions

hi everyone.. i have some smart switches from smatrul around my house. uses wifi.

thinking of upgrading to these switches for better feel when pressing instead of the touch panel which can be annoying when it doesnt detect the touch once in awhile.

but says it requires a Tuya Zigbee hub? i have no idea what zigbee is... and would prefer to not add any other hardware.

what exactly is zigbee? do i need to buy additional hardware n connect to my router? if yes, what hardware? how well is the coverage as my house is a 2 storey terrace which requires 2 mesh wifis n still cant really get full speed on the furthest mesh.

also my best friend just bought an apartment n his dreams of having a smart home is a little delayed as he has to prioritize his finances on other parts of the house....so thinking of getting him the same switches to start him on his journey. i assume will require this zigbee hub thingy?

anyone know of any mechanical smart switches from smatrul that uses wifi n needs no neutral? tried going thru their official store n those mechanical ones says require zigbee

ive only used smatrul and tuya and prefer smatrul along with the smart home app.

does anyone have any idea why access denied to maybank2u website on Chrome? this happened suddenly.. day before it was ok but suddenly next day it says denied.

i can access fine on Opera browser but on chrome cannot.

i did not add on any plugins or download anything or changed settings when it suddenly became like this.

Obviously I'll start... with some work done on my V1K recently.

the cheapo, generic steering damper on my v1k failed during a trip to Thailand so decided to take it apart n rebuild it.

also installed a couple of things as well... took me 2 days to install everything n also sort out some other minor stuff.

rear fender extender. not too happy with the bolts n nuts sticking out... may look into rivets soon for a cleaner install

new tpms to replace the previous, claimed-waterproof-but-leaky-as-shit wired tpms. this time i siliconed any and all the seams around the unit to try n keep it properly waterproof. i like this one coz the solar panel isnt massive n it acts like a small hood for the tpms.

fused power distribution box which i bought months ago and only now decided to install. RM50+ from shopee. small, easy to install and the wiring can be pretty neat.

2nd set of spotlights (the bottom one). now i can have both yellow n white as the low beam n vice versa for the high beam as well. usage will depend on riding conditions. also the reason i installed the fuse box so i can minimize headache of wiring.

HELP! Need to recover contacts

hi guys.. my Xiaomi Redmi Note 3G wont boot into the launcher.. gets stuck in the MI screen the whole day.

even going into fastboot or recovery mode wont work.

plugging it into the PC also nothing happens (except being charged). did this when the phone is off and also while it was in bootloop. also tried with the battery out. nothing.

i wanna recover my contacts from the phone.
- no i didnt sync it anywhere..
- yes, ive learned my lesson and will start syncing with my google account.

is it possible? any possible way to do it?

or if i can just access the internal memory also good enough so i can extract the VCF file ive created right before it kaputed.

help anyone?

Best way for NAS Backup

I have a Synology DS214se NAS as a primary server with about 1.5TB of data on it...and also a WD My Cloud Mirror NAS for backup.

What is the best way to backup the Synology to the WD?

doing a manual, overnight copy and paste hasnt been successful, coz for some reason the PC i do it on keeps disconnecting from the network.

any other easier/better way to do it?

My office's file server recently died and i have been unable to recover the data... maybe its coz i dunno jack about linux or something.. dunno la... the current file server is a WD MyBook Live Duo 3TB (RAID1)

so now, we are looking into Windows based NAS....the type where i can remove the HDD from the NAS, plug it into a PC and windows can read it easily....itll just appear in my computer.. like taking from another pc into my pc.....is there any NAS thats able to do that?

what i need in the NAS

* HDD formatting must be able to read easily when HDD is plugged into a windows based PC without the need for softwares etc...total plug n play.
- dual port supporting minimum 2TB per port. maybe installing 3TB HDDs.
- RAID 1 capable.
- able to connect directly to a PC via USB or network cable.

i also need another NAS with the same capabilities but single port. so basically im asking for 2 separate NAS but with almost similar requirements.

is there any NAS out there that is able to do that? how much do these NAS cost?

if there isnt any NAS that can do point (*) above, do recommend me NAS that fits the closest to the above... tq.

Recover Data from NAS

need help from IT savvy fellers regarding data recovery from my office's WD Mybook Live Duo (3tb) NAS. it wont connect to the network anymore and I need to take out all the files in there to send it for warranty. i have a feeling the network port is dead after yesterday's storm.

it was previously setup in RAID1... based on googling, i cant take out the HDD n simply plug it into a PC. WD sets up their HDD formats differently it seems. and yes ive tried and failed.

so does anyone know how i can recover the files in there?? I need this solved by Sunday evening latest. before my boss screams at me.

the closest ive found HERE after googling involves xubuntu... which i know nothing about.. ive never even seen linux or ubuntu systems.

anyone? any possible easy solutions for a noob?

Android In-Car Charger Question

hi guys... i recently bought THIS IN CAR CHARGER

according to the site... it says 1 port is 2.1A and another port is 1.0A.

1/ i assume the one for Ipad is 2.1A and Iphone is 1A? is this correct? and can the 2.1A be used for Android phones? or is it "too much" charge?

2/ I have a number of Android hardware that may need to be charged in different combos.. and would like to know which port is recommended for which hardware?

My main concern is for my Sony Xperia Acro S and Motorola Defy... as I plan on using RaceChrono (GPS Lap timer) on the Defy and Acro S for video recording simultaneously for my next outing in SIC.

I also have a Lenovo A1000 Tablet as well as a Sony Galaxy Mega (5.8 or 6.3, still unsure which one to buy yet) that may need to use the charger.

reason for concern is that i also have a Sony Xperia P which has battery issues... my wife and i suspect it had something to do with THIS charger... and this charger is also unable to charge my Defy....

would appreciate some insights... thanks.

hi boys and girls... i currently have unifi and am using the standard unifi wifi router (the silver coloured one)

I would like to try and avoid buying anything as i dont want to waste these perfectly good and working routers.

its downstairs in a tv cabinet in my 2-storey terrace house. unfortunately upstairs the signal is very weak on mobile phone... and in my office room, the PC cant get signal at all.

so i was thinking if its possible to use my old wifi router which i used for streamyx as a repeater.

my old router is a linksys wrt54g (forgot wat version, its at home now)

i can also "borrow" from the office the company's old and unused streamyx routers which are

1/ Linksys WRT54G v1.1
2/ Belkin F5D8631-4 (3 antenna model)
3/ Belkin F5D8633-4 (Smaller, 2 antenna model)

which router should i use for best range and fast connection? main usage will be surfing the net with phones and computers... but i do plan on playing COD4 online every now and then.

also, can someone pls post up a step by step setup guide for dummies? for whichever router of ur choice....coz i really am super n00b when it comes to networking stuff.

all 4 routers are on the stock firmware from the box.

main priority will be my own WRT54G...simply coz its mine... but if the Belkins are better then hentam saja laaaaaaaaaaaaa hahahhahahahha

so im thinking of removing my HU from the car... i wanna use that space to put monitoring meters like water temp, oil temp n oil pressure meters.

but i still may need some radio and maybe play some MP3s. wat are the possible options? i have 2 front speakers and thats about it....

dont need super duper sound quality...just something listenable....

initial thought was a 2ch amp with RCA-3.5" minijack and use HP....but then the MP3s will take up valuable space in the HP. if theres something that can read USB even better

Cant Install Windows XP -ORI-

guys need help...

i recently bought some new hardware for an office PC...

problem is, everytime i try to install XP Pro it freezes at the SAME EXACT SPOT. even leaving it overnight it stays there through out.

hardware:

core i3
gigabyte H61M-USB3-B3 motherboard
kingston 4gb ram DDR3
pioneer dvdrw
wd 500gb hdd
CM EPP 460w PSU.
ATI 5670 GC

even after trying my old 160gb seagate hdd the installation stops AT THE SAME EXACT SPOT for BOTH HDDs.

can anyone help n gimme a solution?

the only hardware i can interchange with in the office is the DVDRW n HDD n GC m PSU as the rest of the PCs in the office are on a DDR2 & LGA775 platform

software is original win xp pro oem.

take note that this topic isnt about politics...or any political party but abt the future of motorsports in this country if crap like this keeps happening. so pls.. keep ur political views up ur butts where they belong.

i dont know if any of u have heard of what happened in Sg. Petani recently for the 1-Malaysia Motor Fest Drag Racing 2011.

The event was a fully santioned, FULLY LEGAL event which was organized by MUSC but was sponsored by Pertubuhan Kebajikan 1-Malaysia & Extreme Motorsport Event. If not mistaken even the Kementerian Belia & Sukan (or some other Kementerian) has a hand in making this event possible. (i could be wrong abt the kementerian, but its just wat i heard).

For some reason the event was cancelled at the very last minute. The authorities came down in full force, and i mean Police and JPJ including high ranking officials, to shut down the event. Speculation has it that politicians got involved in this (read quote). So not surprising that high ranking officials got involved....

if true that politicians got involved in this...i really wonder wat their problem is.. i dont really care wat party theyre in... but seriously?

{if true that politicians are involed} wat? they wanted to prove that they have power? they wanted to prove to watever party opposing them that they have power? or did they not get any/enough undertable money to make sure this event goes smoothly? stupid doesnt even begin to describe it. wat the hell does motorsports have to do with politics?? sheesh

i think the Anti Corruption Agency should look into all those invoved in cancelling this event for Abuse of Power (which is a practice of the corrupt anyway).

to this day. no proper statement has been given as to WHY the event was cancelled.. no solid reason, no nothing.

I truly pity those who travelled so far to participate/view and make this event a success...i do hope that they wont give up for future events and keep the fire burning.

seriously...i think motorsports in Malaysia is bleak... i do respect all those who are still trying to put motorsports out there. organizing events, shows etc etc. especially with this kinda crap looming over them... their efforts are truly appreciated...not just by me... but im sure by the entire motorsports industry.

even back when Karamjit was racing... he had so much problems getting sponsors for him to continue on racing. he was already world champion and yet not even the big companies wanted to sponsor him forcing him to not compete and not defend his title. cant remember when this was...but its something i remember reading in the papers coz it was truly heartbreaking & frustrating to see this lack of support. always telling us to strive higher etc etc... and when someone achieves it, they couldnt be bothered.

when the event is illegal, they make noise... but when the event is legal, they make noise also>??? damn.

if not mistaken even SNF Round 2 had abit of issue with the authorities but was quickly cleared up as it was a slight misunderstanding. this was wat a friend of mine who was participating told me...
