Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton sent an email to her campaign chairman John Podesta in 2014, who was then-counselor to President Barack Obama, that said Saudi Arabia and Qatar are both giving financial and logistical support to the Islamic State and other extremist Sunni groups, according to a recent Wikileaks release.

Clinton sent the email on August 17, 2014 to Podesta. It was a eight-point plan to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Clinton’s email said that the United States should support Kurdish forces on the ground with U.S. military advisers and avoid the use of a conventional military ground operation.

“While this military/para-military operation is moving forward, we need to use our diplomatic and more traditional intelligence assets to bring pressure on the governments of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, which are providing clandestine financial and logistic support to ISIL and other radical Sunni groups in the region,” Clinton wrote.

The former secretary of state added: “This effort will be enhanced by the stepped up commitment in the [Kurdish Regional Government]. The Qataris and Saudis will be put in a position of balancing policy between their ongoing competition to dominate the Sunni world and the consequences of serious U.S. pressure.”

Sarawak say no to subprime lending

KUCHING: The state government will not adopt the move by the federal Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry to allow private housing developers give loans to homebuyers. During a press conference at Wisma Satok here yesterday, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is also the Housing and Urbanisation Minister, said the state has its own ways to help people buy houses. He said that the state government had decided to officially reject the move because it could pose financial risks and increase the costs of end-financing and distract developers from carrying out their core business.

He said the state, through the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), had this experience in the past. He mentioned a few alternatives such as setting up a lending agency and building more affordable houses in the state as there were still many parcels of land in the state for the purpose. “To address end-financing problems affecting house buyers, the state government has in fact set up Mutiara Mortgage and Credit Sdn Bhd, a fully owned subsidiary of HDC, to provide loans to the low-income group. For the time being it focuses on loan for public housing projects under the Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) and HDC’s own affordable housing projects,” he added.

Sarawak has introduced a set of Affordable Housing Policy and Guidelines to increase the supply of affordable houses and cater to the housing needs of the lower and middle-income groups. Besides that, the guidelines which are effective since April seek to improve the minimum specifications of the previous low-cost housing units towards meeting higher expectations and requirements of house buyers.

Lack of affordable housing supply in the market has gained limelight nationwide recently. Under these circumstances, Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar recently said his ministry would issue the licence under Money Lending Act 1951 (Amendment) 2011, which would allow developers to provide housing loans to overcome difficulties faced by buyers in securing bank loans.

The ministry decided to introduce this initiative after industry players urged the federal government to reintroduce the Developer Interest Bearing Scheme (DIBS), which was abolished in 2014 after it led to massive speculation in the property sector. However, it is learned that buyers taking up loans from the developers could be charged an interest rate of between 12 and 18 per cent.

Tourists got teargassed and robbed in Paris

Twenty-seven Chinese tourists were assaulted on Tuesday by half a dozen men as they boarded a bus that was to take them to Paris’s Charles de Gaulle airport, a French police source said.

The assailants stole some pieces of luggage and injured two of the tourists, who were taken to hospital for treatment.

“They sprayed the driver with tear gas and hit two tourists,” the source said.

The value of the goods stolen could not immediately be established.

Attacks on Chinese, Korean and Japanese tourists are frequent in the French capital as robbers believe they carry large sums in cash and their suitcases are stuffed with luxury goods purchased in Paris.

A gunman is reportedly on the loose in Munich as cops put a shopping centre into lockdown.

The area around the Olympia-Einkaufszentrum (OEZ) shopping mall in the centre of the German city has been sealed off as the gunman is tracked down.

German media have reported that there have been multiple fatalities, though police are yet to confirm this.

Pictures are emerging from the scene showing people fleeing and what appears to be a body on the floor.

A police helicopter and what appears to be military policemen are at the scene.

A Munich police spokeswoman said that no details were immediately available on injuries or who was responsible for the shooting.

A statement on their Twitter account said: "At the moment, we have a large police operation on the Acharya. Please avoid the area around the shopping centre."

An official at the Munich Olympia Shopping Centre declined comment, saying only, "We are experiencing a problem."

Chinese tourists boycott Europe

Chinese shoppers buy more luxury goods than anyone else in the world. They account for 31% of global luxury purchases, according to consulting firm Bain & Company. They also do about 80% of their buying outside mainland China, where currency exchange rates and import tariffs mean higher prices. For these shoppers, Bain says (pdf, p. 5), Europe has become “the world’s largest in-season outlet.”

The continent is now bottom of the list for many Chinese who previously saw the continent as a dream destination with its fascinating mix of culture, cuisine, shopping and history.

The most recent attacks in Germany and France are only adding to the fear anyone in Europe could be the next victim.

Monday's axe attack on a train in Wuerzburg, Germany, has meant the continent is now officially a no-go area for many Chinese after four Hong Kong people were among those seriously injured by 17 year old Afghan refugee.

He has been named locally as Muhammed Riyad, and a video purporting to show the attacker was released Islamic State (ISIS).

In the clip a man with a knife said he was a "soldier of the calpihate" and pledged allegiance to the evil jihadi group.

An unnamed married couple, their 26 year old daughter, Tracy Yau Hiu-tung and her 31 year old boyfriend, Edmund Au Yeung were all injured by the teenager who was shot dead by German police as he fled the scene on Monday.

Since the incident, many Chinese people have taken to the internet to discuss whether it is safe to travel to Europe.

Qiuzouxi, a user on Weibo - China's version of Twitter - said: "Since the refugee wave arrived in Europe we have the feeling that the terrorism won't stop.

"France, Germany - in future terrorism will spread to all of Europe."

Following last week's attack in Nice, when Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel killed 84 after ploughing a lorry into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day, Chinese tourists are striking France off their holiday list as well, Xu Xiaolei, marketing manager at China CYTS Tours, said.

He said: "These unexpected events have led to increased uncertainty, which is seen as a cancer for the tourism industry."

Nintendo stock rise up more than 25% in one week

Pokémon Go is the latest hotness in mobile gaming and Nintendo is basking in its glow -- to the tune of $7.5 billion in additional market value. Nintendo stock closed up 25 percent on Monday, and by the end of last week, when Pokémon Go hit mobile devices across the US, Australia and New Zealand, the company's stock was already up 9 percent. Nintendo added $7.5 billion to its market value on Friday and Monday alone, Reuters reports.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Pokémon Go will hit Europe, Japan and other Asian nations within a few days, citing people with knowledge of internal plans.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is being criticized after calling the term "black lives matter" "inherently racist."

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani stepped up his sharp criticism of Black Lives Matter on Monday, saying he saved "a lot more black lives" during his time in office than the movement.

The Republican made the comments during a morning appearance on "Fox and Friends," where he alluded to his tough-on-crime policies while leading New York and a significant drop in the murder rate during his tenure as mayor.

“I believe I saved a lot more black lives than Black Lives Matter. I don’t see what Black Lives Matter is doing for blacks other than isolating them. All it cares about is the police shooting of blacks. It doesn’t care about the 90 percent of blacks that are killed by the blacks. That is a simple fact," Giuliani said. "I saved more black lives than anyone in the history of the city. I took over the city with 1,924 murders, I gave it to Mayor Bloomberg with 500 plus murders. Seventy-five percent of the people saved during that time were African American."

"I spent a lot of time in the black community," he continued. "Black Lives Matters never protests when every 14 hours someone is killed in Chicago."

Giuliani also repeated to Fox an assertion that he first made Sunday on CBS' "Face the Nation," that the term "black lives matter" is racist.

"It's inherently racist because, number one, it divides us. All lives matter," he said Monday.

Giuliani also says black children face a greater threat from other black children than from police. He says "the real danger to them 99 out of 100 times ... are other black kids who are going to kill them. That's the way they're going to die."

ISIS strike again

Nearly 120 people were killed and 200 wounded in two bombings overnight in Baghdad, most of them in a busy shopping area as residents celebrated Ramadan, police and medical sources said on Sunday.

The attack on the shopping area of Karrada is the deadliest since U.S.-backed Iraqi forces last month scored a major victory when it dislodged Islamic State from their stronghold of Falluja, an hour's drive west of the capital. It is also the deadliest so far this year.

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi had ordered the offensive after a series of bombings in Baghdad, saying Falluja served as a launchpad for such attacks on the capital. However, bombings have continued.

A convoy carrying Abadi who had come to tour the site of the bombings was pelted with stones and bottles by residents, angry at what they felt were false promises of better security.

A refrigerator truck packed with explosives blew up in the central district of Karrada, killing 115 people and injuring at least 200. Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement circulated online by supporters of the ultra-hardline Sunni group. It said the blast was a suicide bombing.

Karrada was busy at the time as Iraqis eat out and shop late during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, which ends next week with the Eid al-Fitr festival.

The White House on Sunday said the attack only strengthened the United States' resolve to confront Islamic State. "We remain united with the Iraqi people and government in our combined efforts to destroy ISIL," said the White House statement, referring to Islamic State.

Videos posted on social media showed people running after the SUV convoy of Abadi as he left Karrada after touring the scene, throwing pavement stones, bottles of water, empty buckets and slippers, venting their anger at the inability of the security forces to protect the area.

Employers and employees in Washington D.C. are legally prohibited from referring to a transgender employee or coworker by the “wrong” pronouns or asking “personal questions” about their gender identity, according to the city’s Office of Human Rights (OHR).

OHR published a best practices guide for “valuing transgender applicants and employees” earlier this month with a list of “behaviors by supervisors or coworkers [that] may be considered unlawful harassment or a hostile work environment.”

One of the listed prohibited behaviors is: “Deliberately misusing a person’s preferred name or pronoun.”

“Asking personal questions about an individual’s body, gender identity or expression or transition” and “Posting offensive pictures or sending offensive communications” are also among the prohibited behaviors.

The guide states, “The District uses the probable cause standard in determining whether the above constitute harassment or a hostile work environment.”

Stephanie Franklin, OHR’s interim director of policy and communications, confirmed in an email that “Any workplace environment in DC—private businesses included— in which supervisors or co-workers deliberately misuse a person’s preferred name or pronoun may be considered unlawful harassment and/or a hostile work environment according to DC law.”

The “best practices” guide featues a chart on “gender and gender-neutral pronouns” that includes the gender-neutral pronoun “ze.” The chart includes example phrases using the gender-neutral pronoun, such as “Ze smiled,” “I met zir,” “Zir bike” and “Ze is zirself.”

“Regardless of the legal name and gender, employers should use an employee’s desired name and pronouns when communicating with them, and when talking about them to third parties,” the guide states.

The guide says, “The employer must ensure employees respect and use a transgender employee’s preferred names and pronouns, as repeated failure to do so can be considered harassment, and can cause severe distress to a transgender employee.”

“When an employee transitions in the workplace, the employee and their supervisor should discuss how the employee wants to transition the use of their name and pronouns,” the guide later states.

This can include establishing a date the employee wants to start using their new name in the workplace, which allows the employer to complete the tasks necessary to ensure the preferred name is reflected on outward facing documents.”

The guide also make clear that employees should be allowed to use the bathroom in which they’re most comfortable .

“Transgender employees should at all times be able to use the restroom and other gender-segregated facilities (such as locker rooms) that they are most comfortable with,” the guide states.

Japan's court approved surveillance of Muslims

Japan's top court has approved blanket surveillance of the country's Muslims

Japan's Supreme Court has upheld the government's blanket surveillance of the country's Muslim community.

The court struck down the second appeal by Japanese Muslim plaintiffs against what they perceive as an unconstitutional invasion of their privacy and freedom of religion.

A 2010 leak of 114 police files revealed nationwide surveillance of Japanese Muslims. The files revealed that Muslim places of worship, halal restaurants and Islam-related organisations across the capital, Tokyo, were being monitored.

Within a few weeks of the leak, the data had been downloaded 10,000 times in 20 different countries from a file-sharing website.

A group of 17 Japanese Muslims, mostly from Middle Eastern and North African countries, decided to sue the Japanese government for infringing on their constitutional rights.

Mohamed Fujita, a native of Japan who converted to Islam over 20 years ago, is one of the 17 plaintiffs fighting the surveillance.

The Supreme Court finally dismissed the case after two appeals on 31 May.

The plaintiffs were awarded ¥90 million ($880,000) as compensation due to violation of their privacy by the leak.

However, the presiding judges did not make a judgment on police profiling and surveillance tactics which a lower court had upheld as "necessary and inevitable" to guard against international terrorism.

A lawyer for the plaintiffs, Junko Hayashi said: "We were told we don't have a constitutional case, we're still trying to figure out how it is not constitutional."

According to Hiroshi Miyashita, a law professor at Chuo University who’s an expert on privacy issues, the lawsuit was the first major legal case in Japan to highlight mass surveillance. However, a state secrets law that came into force in 2014 would shield the issue from public and judicial scrutiny. “Even judges cannot access information” about police practices under the new law, he added.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police and the National Police Agency refused to comment on the court decision, and would not confirm whether they continue to profile and monitor Japan’s Muslim community.

Transgender get US$60k because her feelings hurted

A transgender schoolteacher in Oregon won a $60,000 settlement from a school district after co-workers allegedly failed to address the teacher by the proper gender pronouns.

The Gresham-Barlow School District agreed to pay emotional damages to Leo Soell, who teaches the fifth grade at Hall Elementary School and identifies as neither male nor female.

Soell, who identifies as “they,” said co-workers continuously used the wrong gender pronouns when referring to Soell, instead using terms such as “she,” “lady” or “Miss Soell.”

Soell also said the school prohibited Soell from telling students about Soell’s gender identity. If asked by students whether Soell were male or female, Soell was told to respond, “We all have private lives, and it would not be appropriate to talk about our private lives during the school day.”

According to The Oregonian, Leo Soell was born a woman, but now prefers to identify as “transmasculine” and “genderqueer,” meaning she does not consider herself to be male or female. After getting breast cancer in late 2014, she had her breasts amputated to create a more masculine appearance and changed her name to Leo. Once she returned from medical school in May, 2015, Soell was fully public with her gender-neutral identity.

Soell filed a complaint against co-workers, but a district investigation found no evidence of harassment, which prompted Soell to sue the district.

Soell began working at Hall Elementary School in 2013, but did not come out to co-workers or the administration about Soell’s gender identity until this year, because Oregon teachers work for their first three years on yearlong probationary contracts. During that time, they can be released from work for any improper conducts.

As part of the settlement, district leaders agreed to build gender-neutral restrooms at all district schools within three years.

Soell said no one has used the incorrect gender pronouns around Soell since the settlement.

Swedish police are sounding the alarm: We are losing control

‘It’s Like a War Zone’: TV Crew Forced to Flee Migrant Youths

A Norwegian TV crew with an experienced war correspondent was forced to flee a Swedish cafe after they came under threat from young migrants shouting at them in Arabic.
In a scene reminiscent of the attack on Australian journalists in Stockholm, journalists were forced to stop filming yet again in the Swedish capital.

A crew from Norway’s NRK TV channel were planning on interviewing Swedish economist Tino Sandandaji when they were approached by several young Muslim men who threatened them and forced them to leave and stop filming Expressen reports.

Sanandaji brought the incident to the attention of his followers in Facebook when he wrote, “The more aggressive (people) began causing a fuss in Arabic with the Norwegian cameraman who has an immigrant background. When the menacing atmosphere began to be physical, we decided to cancel the interview.” A short one and a half minute clip of the incident was uploaded to NRK’s website which shows the interview being interrupted by several young men. As Sandandaji and the crew are leaving one migrant yells “bang, bang. bang,” an apparent threat to shoot the film makers.

Anders Magnus led the crew and was conducting the interview. Magnus has covered stories in war zones across Africa and the Middle East but was shocked by the incident saying, “It was scary to be in Sweden for this mission. They are so many and they are going in gangs. We hear the police talking about hadn grenades being thrown, their being pushed, and having stones thrown.

“It’s like a war zone. It was a very unpleasant day on the job.”

Cameraman Mohammed Alayoubi told NRK about his experience in what many call Sweden’s “little Mogadishu,” saying, “the young people were masked and extremely aggressive. They had no respect for the police and did not know who we were either. They threw a stone at us as we stood next to the police. It was a big one, probably [weighing] one kilogram.”

The incident occurred in the notorious suburb of Husby in Stockholm. Husby is well known in Sweden as one of the poorest areas of the country and has an 80% migrant population.

In 2013 the area became famous worldwide when riots that lasted for nine days saw 150 cars an other vehicles set on fire, and a total of $9.5 million of damages. The riots began after a 69-year-old resident of the suburb wielded a large knife in public and was fatally shot by police.

Last year a group of anti mass migration activists attempted to highlight the social problems in Husby when they led a gay pride parade through the suburb. The move was met by confusion from leftists who called the organizers “racists” and “xenophobes” for highlighting the attitude of residents of Husby toward gay people.

When an Australian TV crew attempted to film in the neighbouring suburb of Rinkeby earlier this year they too were met with young migrants who followed them and soon attacked them without provocation. One resident even attempted to ram his car into the group of journalists who were filming a a story on No-go areas for Australia’s 60 minutes programme.

One of the new migrant latest sport is "police fishing". Placing fake emergency calls, then lying in wait to ambush responders with rocks and molotovs. And in one recent incident, a hand grenade thrown at a police van securing the area before the ambulance would dare to enter.

Females want to declare memes illegal!

Well, not a firewall, but a fine. PRI party congresswoman Martha Orta Rodriguez wants any Mexican citizen who creates or disseminates internet memes to be arrested and slapped with a US$2000 penalty.

The congresswoman, who represents a district in Mexico that has over 2 million people living in poverty, said her proposed meme-ban would “deter violence or harassment [on] social networks” by preventing the spread of “harmful” or “humiliating” images.

Mexican netizens responded by taking to Twitter, sharing dozens of Photoshopped images of the politician on the #Ladymemes hashtag, including several comparing her to Jabba the Hutt from the Star Wars franchise.

This however is not the first attempt by a Mexican ~~feminist~~ I mean politician to punish memes on the internet.

In Jun 2015, a similar attempt have been made.

A congresswoman in Mexico introduced a bill to punish meme-makers who mock Mexican life with fines up to $1,600 — and the internet community has predictably fired back with memes making fun of her.

Congresswoman Selma Guadalupe Gomez is the champion of the "anti-meme" law, a bill formally named the "Law of Civil Responsibility for the Protection of the Right to Private Life, Honor and the Image of the State of Sonora," reports Rafa Fernandez De Castro from Fusion.

Her goal is to protect the "moral patrimony" of the Mexican state Sonora by regulating social media content and fining offensive meme-makers. Fines can be as heavy as $1,600.

The meme community, known for its ability to levy sustained social media attacks on individuals, has lashed out against the Congresswoman.

Isn’t it disgusting? Isn’t it funny? The woman who fell in love with her son.

But laugh I did not, as I read the tale of Kim West – the 51-year-old who entered a romantic relationship with her child 30 years after giving him up for adoption.

Her story was splashed over the newspapers last week after she revealed how a reunion between the pair sparked an intense romance. Now they want to get married and start a family.

It’s interesting that the public was so outraged, because the couple’s story is far from unique. In fact, a number of family romances have emerged over the last decade – and I can’t see them stopping any time soon. There have been cases of grandparents settling down with grandchildren, fathers and daughters in love, and even twins twinned up.

What makes all these relationships tick isn’t love, or looks, or destiny, but – more likely – Genetic Sexual Attraction (GSA). It’s the phenomenon no one wants to talk about - because it raises a taboo topic: incest.

But it’s real – and with advances in fertility options, something we need to get our heads round. Fast.

GSA describes a powerful sexual attraction that occurs when biological relatives – parent and offspring, siblings or half siblings or first and second cousins – meet for the first time as adults. It was first identified in the 1980s by Barbara Gonyo, who fell madly in love with her son. After they reunited in adulthood, Gonyo struggled for 13 years to break off feelings for him.

That’s what GSA is: a struggle. When people criticise West, they overestimate her degree of control in the situation. Often GSA sufferers feel powerless – as if their feelings are impossible to change. There have been heartbreaking cases of families broken apart by GSA. It’s an affliction; a curse for all those involved.

Quite why GSA occurs is still up for discussion. There isn’t a great deal of research into the area, because who wants a PhD in incest? Some researchers have hypothesised, however, that an effect in infancy protects against GSA. When families live closely together, they become desensitised to each other as sexual prospects. This desensitisation effect is said to happen between birth and age six. Without it, and when relatives meet later in life, GSA can occur. Evidence from the Post-Adoption Centre and University College London suggests that GSA it happens in 50 percent of reunion cases.

Put in this context, West becomes far less of a freak and more of regularity. It is only her pride in her relationship that has perplexed others, as many GSA couples feel deeply upset about what’s happened to them. There are even communities online for them to anonymously discuss their relationships.

In the future, I hope they won’t have to hide away. I think that will be less likely as a result of increases in fertility options, which have dramatically upped the potential for GSA cases.

Muslim killed Muslim for disrespecting Islam

The man accused of murdering Glasgow shopkeeper Asad Shah has issued a statement saying he carried out the killing because he believed Mr Shah had "disrespected" Islam.

Tanveer Ahmed, 32, from Bradford, is accused of killing Mr Shah outside his shop in Glasgow almost a fortnight ago.

In the statement he denied the incident had anything to do with Christianity.

Mr Ahmed claimed Asad Shah had "disrespected" Islam by claiming to be a prophet.

The shopkeeper, an Ahmadi Muslim, who had moved from Pakistan to Glasgow almost 20 years ago, was found with serious injuries outside his shop on Minard Road in Shawlands on 24 March. He was pronounced dead in hospital.

Mr Shah was killed just hours after he posted an Easter message on Facebook to his customers.

The message said: "Good Friday and a very happy Easter, especially to my beloved Christian nationx"

During the police investigation officers claimed the incident was "religiously prejudiced" and confirmed both men were Muslims.

Mr Shah was an Ahmadiyya Muslim, a group known for its non-violence and interfaith concerns.

Ahmadiyya are banned by the constitution of Pakistan from referring to themselves as Muslims.

Muslim killed by Muslims for being too nice

A 32-year-old man has been arrested after a Glasgow shopkeeper was killed in what Police Scotland are treating as a "religiously prejudiced" attack.
Asad Shah, 40, was found seriously injured in Minard Road, Shawlands, at about 21:05 GMT on Thursday. He died in hospital.
The incident happened hours after he apparently posted social media messages wishing his customers a happy Easter.
Police said both Mr Shah and the arrested man were Muslims.

A post on Thursday from an account that appears to be Mr Shah's said: "Good Friday and very happy Easter, especially to my beloved Christian nation x!"

Mr Shah was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
