Comcast just got owned for P2P throttling. Now i hope other countries follow suite and stop their ISP's from i quote this following sites link "No broadband company, including Comcast, should be allowed to employ traffic management practices that harm the interests of consumers, and the Internet itself, by failing to deliver fair access to all of the Net's resources,".

Firefox 3 Tweaked 4 speed!

Hi folks my new write up on how 2 squeeze all the speed you can get from our favorite browser Firefox 3 .

There are 2 tweaks i will let you choose the one that suits you.

Tweak Network v1.3 [I used to use this till i got FireTune see below]

Now to set up this tweak I'll make it easy for the novice user & power user. Go to this link you will need a PDF reader ie. Adobe Reader or my favorite Foxit Reader

Now what this PDF is for, is to state the different settings you could set Tweak Network v1.3. The following tweak does have a Power User option and if you just click it and apply it's all done but for those of you that want to fiddle around with the settings this PDF could be your guide.

I suggest using Courteous or Optimized value for those using 512k/1mb packages. You could use the Turbo settings but see whether it is ideal for you.

If your experienced enough or Daredevil by nature you can choose the settings you think might be the right choice by using the PDF guide as a blueprint.

Now for those of you who want to Set it and Forget it this following Tweak is the one for you .

FireTune v1.2.0 [I use this! . Firefox 3 on steroids when i use the following tweak ]

This tweak optimizes Firefox 3 to what i believe it's true potential.

It's very simple to set up the following tweak. Unzip it & make sure Firefox 3 isn't running. It will not install itself but just create a folder called firetune. It will ask you to make a backup of the default settings which you should do. 1nce your done that choose the settings that suit your need. I didn't apply the following setting SSL . [Read the explanation before applying this setting].

Note: Memory setting you might want to get that option . I love it

All the features like pipelining are set in this product so do not worry if your wondering .

DNS [Speed benefits/Advantages]

I'll start off with a proper DNS service in this topic. Opendns vs DNSadvantage vs TMnut

DNS node locations:

OpenDNS
http://www.opendns.com/how/faster/global-footprint/ [Hong Kong planned] When they do have a node in that location I'd probably switch to OpenDNS and test it out

DNSadvantage [My current love & choice]

Now between the two when i use OpenDNS it is slightly slower because all their nodes are located in US/Europe. Whereas DNSadvantage has a far wider reach and their closest node is located in India & Hong Kong for us.

What DNSadvantage doesn't have is a Dashboard which is:

OpenDNS does have this feature so if your using it then stick with them for the time being. Now TMnut if your browsing comprises off just known sites such as Google, MSN, Yahoo, Local sites etc. meaning your probably just browsing only sites that are either well known or comprised of the Local flavor then TMnut is for you because their ping times are lower but they do not have a Dashboard. If your like me and browse the web all over and not continent strained then 1 of the above DNS is for you because there is no likely hood that the current DNS your looking up is cached in TMnut. It's especially true when you browse sites that are not in english/malay because those IP's are not of TMnut's priority.

If any user here has a better DNS service feel free to state it and I'll be happy to give it a go so will others. Sharing is the best way to bigger and better ideas/solutions

Speeding up NET will be my next topic lazy to do it just at the moment

I have tested this software and it does lower my ping for gaming and also browsing. Bandwidth control is done very well and you notice no slow downs. It has 2 modes a bandwidth & ping mode. Also if say an application is not stated in the traffic shaping menu say for example Windows Live Messenger you can place it in there via the search option very easy to use.

Many people do claim it has benefited them a lot so I'm nearly sold but since we use bloody Screamyx i just wanted to know from 1st hand experience. I see setting the application isn't hard and it already had a few torrents listed in it's menu .

I just want to know the overall effect of browsing, downloading, gaming ping [Edited: Yes does work very well check reviews on the below thread and see many users claiming it helped their bandwidth a lot]

Torrent Suggestions/Ideas/User feedback

I would like to know which torrents are stable and also garner the best speeds. I know quite a few used bittorrent and bitcomet for the most part. Now though i just feel sometimes certain software are being watched and getting their speed capped the moment you use a certain torrent.

I would like ideas for options to use to gain better connection stability and speeds. All ideas are welcome however obscure it may seem. Tell me if a certain torrent program is a resource hog ie Vuze but i feel it may be a good program if you overlook that flaw.

Tell me your experience when using certain torrents then having to switch it because well of whatever issues you did have with it. My role in all of this is to get a very well setup torrent client and also to finally choose an ideal torrent to P2P with. Usually as they say the P2P client doesn't decide the outcome of speed but the settings do and i have to agree with that point but also stability is another issue that good programming is essential for fast and non interrupted delivery of data.

Anything P2P you can think off goes here so fire away and remember no torrent is better than the other so don't start a flame war on who's got the bigger because you know i do .
