[Advice Needed] XPS 7100 Upgradability

Hey guys,

I have a 3 year old Dell XPS 7100 machine that is currently running on factory ATi 5870. I would like to replace the card to Sapphire Toxic R9 280x but unfortunately the casing has a very limited space and I wonder if the card can be fitted into the chassis. I did a size comparison of 5870 vs Sapphire Toxic 280x (30cm) which Toxic carried slightly longer in length as compared to 5870 (28cm). Here is how my casing will look like.

http://www.anandtech.com/Gallery/Album/721#7

Secondly, PSU upgrade is another issue here. I'm not too sure if the factory fitted PSU can be replaced with any brand in the market out there. Judging from the size of the stock PSU, it looks like able to fit in at least a Cooler Master.

The screw holes looks to be able to fit another PSU right ?
http://www.anandtech.com/Gallery/Album/721#6

Here's the factory fitted PSU info (460w)
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/516-5BSwoXL.jpg

Advice needed from gurus. Hence I need your advice on which brand & model is recommended.

My budget is estimated RM 10k+- (inclusive of speaker, woofer & amplifier(DTS-HD & DolbyTrueHD needed) while TV is not needed.

I have come across similar thread in here from another lyn member (chinkor) with thread about 10k budget system, I found a number of recommended set of speakers in his thread such as:

--------------------------------------------------
1)Amp: Yamaha RX-V663 - 1.8k
2)Speakers: PSB Alpha T1, B1 and C1 - 2.3k
--------------------------------------------------
1)Denon AV Receiver AVR-1909 with DTS-HD and video upscale to 1080P (~ RM2800)
2)Mordaunt Short Carnival2,5,6,9 ( ~ RM4500) 5.1 setup
--------------------------------------------------
1)sch606 + onkyo 506(full set 5 speakers) = 2599
2)Jamo sub/ other power sub = 2K
--------------------------------------------------
1)mordauntshort 9series spkr. 906i, 902i, 905icenter, 309i - RM ??? However, I got recommended by Perfect Hi-Fi today on the following speaker

1) 5.1 KEF 2000series (URL- http://www.kef.com/KHT/KHT2005.2/home.htm) - RM4.5k (estimated)
2) Pioneer AMP VSX-LX50 with DTS-HD & DolbyTrueHD - RM4k (estimated)

Not too sure if this set of speakers is good for movies/music. With maxing out 10k budget, which is the perfect combination matching in terms of movies, music and gaming. Advice is needed from all gurus.

All comments are welcome as i'm still researching all available options.

AEGO M 2.1

Hi all,

I've read numerous opinions in this forum about AEGO M pairing with different kind of sound cards/DAC. After further readup and recommendation from expertise, I finally come to a conclusion of getting this card. No doubt, I do have a couple of question before getting this card. Hopefully you guys can give me an answer... thanks in advance.

1) I'm currently using built-in on-board sound card which having green jack line output only. By default AEGO M package it comes with "green jack to 2RCA output converter(red & white)". By using this green jack output, will it fully utilize AEGO M's capability ? Does it make a difference in terms of signal transmission or having noise interference ?

I'm aware that this AudioTrak Prodigy HD2 is having 2RCA port built-in in its card itself. Will it be better if using 2RCA ports directly connect to 2 RCA ports in AEGO M's sub woofer rather than plugging in a green jack(from built-in mobo card) to 2RCA converter ? I'm kinda confuse in cabling stuffs whether "green jack to 2RCA converter" OR "2RCA directly to 2RCA" will be a better choice. More info on my explanation in the link below with screenshot.

http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?p=2993676

2) Assume that i bought this sound card pairing 2RCA(from soundcard) direct to 2RCA(AEGO M) I/O connectivity. How if next time if I were to upgrade from 2.1 to 3.1 AEGO M ? How will this sound card pair up to 3 satellite speakers ? I understand AEGO M having 3 inputs (left, right, center) but Prodigy HD2 isn't. Do I need to get additional device or whatsoever. Please advice.

3) RCA cable thickness really make a difference ? I've read many opinions said so. Most importantly, where to find this cable and which brand recommended ? Please advice.

All advice are welcome and thanks in advance. Very very much appreciated if you could drop by a comment.
