Stamp collecting as an investment

Are there folks here who collect stamps and other philately items as a form of investment?

I recently embarked on building up a small but somewhat valuable collection of old Malaya, Straits Settlements and Federated States of Malaya stamps (mostly mint and unmounted) - the prices quoted for some of these from collectors, dealers and via auctions are crazy, many complete sets of some issues start from FOUR figures and above!

I am also building up a China stamp collection focusing on certain commerative issues including the minature sheets whose values tend to exceed the stamps themselves multiple times.

No love in Malaysia for Chinese Malaysian men

From personal experiences (myself and others) as well as reading a pile of comments and statements in cyberspace posted by Chinese Malaysian men and women regarding dating and marriage, I have arrived at the conclusion that it's just not worth it to marry a Chinese lady in Malaysia or even date one for that matter - at least for most young Chinese Malaysian men i.e. those who can't afford to splash the cash.

As a prime example, take a look at one of the threads in the Girl's Club LYN sub-forum - a significant percentage of women (pressumably) voted that a man should be earning RM10K per month by the time he reaches 30 years of age, I am absolutely flabbergasted when I saw the results of the poll! The minimum starts a 5K per mth!

I know financial stability and career prospects are important considerations for most women but the above and many other such postulations that I have come across in person and from second and third hand sources clearly shows that utterly unrealistic career and material expectations are heaped onto the younger Chinese men (below 30) by a not-so-insignificant number of young Chinese ladies.

For Chinese guys, a suggestion from me - please leave Malaysian shores and earn your $$ and build your career elsewhere, you ain't gonna earn enough dough to support the local Chinese ladies. Better still, settle down abroad and leave the country for good - heck, if even your own womenfolk are demanding sky-high deliverables from you, you are better off making your living elsewhere.

Either that or settle for a non-chinese girl in Malaysia.

A third option is to earn good $$ overseas and return to Malaysia and be more eligible as a marriage partner for Chinese Malaysian women.

I choose the first option - I left Malaysian shores and I ain't returning except for the occasional trip with regards to the three Fs - family, friends and food.
