Hi plug in hybrid users, when will you turn on the E-save? Mind to also share what mode you usually leave the system on? Any suggestion on how to achieve the best mileage with the lowest fc? Thanks.
TT, A6 1.8 or 520D

Hi, I'm driving a 320D now for 5 years, I'm considering to change my car now but I don't know which one to change

1) TT - I like it becoz I normally drive alone, and smaller car is better for parking becoz I have to say I'm quite clumsy. I knocked my 320 few times on the walls. pillars, fence etc. Haha. I also like TT coz it looks sporty.

2) A6 1.8 - I like its design. I think the car is more practical than a 2 seater. When I think of that particular time when I need to take 4 people, I will be very regret to have chosen the TT. However, I'm not sure about the maintenance and service of the car. I also worry the car will be easily in trouble or not.

3) Since I'm driving 320D, I think I'm very confident to take 520D. I know BMW well and I know I won't go wrong with BMW, I like BMW diesel becoz the fc is really fantastic and no compromise on power and performance. But, I'm a bit bored to drive another BMW again.

Hope you guys can share some thought with me, thanks.

Hi, I got a question and I'm not sure if I'm correct.

Say I'm using S5 with maxis LTE, I wonder what's the point to apply another maxis LTE modem (another broadband package) cos aren't they using the same network? For example once I turn on my S5 tethering I can just connect my macbook air to it and I assume the speed of download, surfing etc should be the same right?

Hope someone can explain thanks.

I'm a light user at home, which I use my TM broadband only for social media, surfing and light youtube that's all (no gaming, no watch videos and rarely download anything etc, so I guess I should be using less than 5gb), I use ard 1GB on my phone only too. I spend most of my time at office on UNIFI, so I usually do my heavy upload & download in office. That's why I think is really not necessary to have another broadband package at home unless the speed offered by modem & tethering via phone is different.

2nd hand car margin?

I think there are some 2nd hand dealers here so I hope I'm not offending anyone just for general knowledge. Base on my self experimental today, I think the 2nd hand dealer raise the price of the car collected around 15-20%. In another word, they are trying to earn around 20k per car. Am i right?

Guys, I'm also caught at a crossroad don't know which one to get. My budget is only 180k, can stretch to 230k if worth for, but I don't want to spend too much on a car.

My one and only fav right now is 328i but obviously out of discussion. What important to me of a car, in order:
1. comfortable
2. safety
3. reliable eg spare parts, SC etc, long warranty
4. fuel economy
5. resell value

what I am considering, in order:
1. 2011 320i
2. 2011c200
3. 2011 A4
4. brand new camry 2.4(as I owned 2 toyota guess I could get some loyalty discount? )
5. brand new mazda 6 2.5
6. prius
7. new A4
8. new S60
9. new VW CC

Hope you guys can share some thoughts.
BMW 325i vs Benz C250 vs IS250

Hey guys, I'm preparing to upgrade my car to one of the said models around mid next year. So i thought it would be perfect time for me to start to collect some great opinions and advice from all you car lovers. Hope you guys can help.

I tested all 3 of them (owned by my friends) and I really have no idea which one to pick. To put them in simple form, from my little knowledge I experienced, this is what I felt:
1. 325i - great for handling, but not too comfortable. I feel young in it. However, I find it too common on the road, even some executives and managers are driving it. It doesn't look like a boss car.
2. c250 - very comfortable and performance wise I think it is on par with 325i. However, I do feel old in it. Image wise, guess it is good for a businessman.
3. is250 - not too many otr. Not too bad either compared to the above 2 models. But, I feel either here or there, and I think it is inferior to AudiA4 too, however, what I like about it compared to A4 is the interior is nicer.

The above is just what I felt, there are still many things I don't know about each of them like maintenance, hidden performances, fuel consumption etc. Hope you guys can share some of these precious info here. Btw, my budget is only 300k. I wish not to go further unless the said proposed model does worth for the extra. I don't consider A4 becos it is obviously coming behind 325i & c250 in terms of performance & look and like i mentioned, the interior design also not as good as is250. (just my self preference)

One last question, I am open for 2nd hand too. But my question is, in comparison to the first 3 years free maintenance on new car, isn't it as good as the discounted value we get from the 2nd hand? Besides, I heard too many unfortunates happened with these 2nd hands, so i am not sure if getting 2nd hand is a good idea.

Thanks.

Aztech DSL1015EN(L)

I don't understand the way it works here as I'm told as long as if that's your own problem, you shouldn't state in others topic even though they are the same. So, I'm here to reopen this issue (multiple thread you called it).

I got connection issue with the Aztech DSL1015EN(L) which I just bought. It seems I can connect any other peripheral included windows laptop, ipad, itouch, iphone but Macbook pro. Every time I connect the macbook pro, the whole wireless system will corrupt. I have to shut down my macbook, and restart the router/modem then only can connect to the internet. I took it back to lowyat for the technician to check and it seems they don't have a clue either. Anyone knows what's the technical issue here? I suspect it should be setting.

Audi A4 or Mazda 6 or Camry

Hey guys, my turn to plan to change car. I'm driving an Altis currently, almost 1 year old only, but frankly not quite happy on the handling. I am thinking to upgrade to either one of these:

Audi A4 2.0 TFSI Auto Turbo -08 : haven't tested
Mazda 6 2.5 : haven't tested, like the look.
Camry 2.4 : Tested, feel like an upgrade version of Altis with better comfort. No surprise.

Tested Accord 2.4 too and don't like it. The interior looks cheap and not too comfortable. I wish to have a car which gives equal comfort & power. Passat sounds cool but out of budget. Can afford around 180k only. Hope you guys can help by giving the pros n cons on each model. Thanks.

So much recall going on

Toyota, Honda, Pegeout, Citroen now Ford....Models involved getting more and more...all thanks to MR TOYOTA.

The recall of the massive 1.8 million units surely give an alert to all other auto makers & realized they can not hide the issue anymore. Cos once found out, they all will be in deep s*. And worst, since Toyota so brave in stepping up to handle such a massive recall, if they were being accused later, surely their brand will be marked as unreliable and cheater. Let's celebrate for more brands announcing their recall.

Since everyone abang adik now, bashers of certain brand can take a break. Anyway, Proton is the most lucky maker cos their cars already known packaged with problem, without problem is not proton. So they totally need not to worry on the recall. If they do, tomorrow they will bankrupt already.

Appreciation Thread: Altis Gen 10

Altis perhaps is the most run down toyota car in this forum, however, in celebration of my new Altis , I like to share my Altis experience with you all, especially to whom who is currently driving an Altis gen 10, or someone who is like me, hesitating on choosing Altis or not.

To begin with, let's share some of my characteristics which some of you may like to use as reference in choosing your car. I just reached 30s, having a very small business, I like fashion and I am kinda trendy person. I like classic beauty, enjoy personal moment, and elegant yet not too common stuffs. I do not compromise on comfort, style and performance. Budget on my purchase was 150K ++.

At the initial stage, it was fast to nail my choices down to final 3, Civic2.0, Mazda 3 & Altis after first round of car testing. Mazda really stood out to my first impression, loved the car a lot. Altis was my least favorite among the 3. I even eliminated it from my list during my consideration. Civic2.0 was my practical pick that time as I got some MARVELOUS discount. (Mazda offered a better discount than Altis too. *surprised, now who said Toyota giving the best discount in town, crap*). My heart really felt for Mazda and no choice, I had to take a 2nd test for a longer journey, and a better examination on the car. This time, clearly, Mazda3 lose to Civic. Civic has a better overall performance, and interior wise, I noticed Mazda3 too narrow, and the dashboard and the buttons were a total cramp to me. In another word, over-do. Civic2.0 is my choice, as I thought. Prepared the downpayment and a weekend before I proceed with the payment, I took one more test on Altis at a shop nearby my house n to check on Camry 2.0 as my alternative. I have to say, the SA was really helpful and the best SA compared to the rest I have seen so fast, what more is, he is a racer himself! I told him everything I felt from the test drive, my pick, and what I read from this forum about the problem of the cars. He wanted to prove me wrong, and he asked me to jump on for a ride in an Altis. That test drive was a complete turning point in my decision. He sped the car steadily, performed all perfect cornering, up hill down hill, winding road, bumpy road, almost every track you can name it. I was so jaw dropped on the potential of the car that has been unleashed by him. (He was a former proton SA and just joined UMW in less than 1 year). However, he was honest to inform me, Civic still can overtake Altis anytime during cornering. But what do I care, I can't even drive half he could and I will never race a car madly like him. He then let me drive the car for another 10 - 15 mins. I started to appreciate the car. It is very steady, very comfortable. The only problem I noticed, was the floating. I then took the camry, yes, it is the most comfortable car of the all I tested so fast. However, I feel like a driver. It's too comfortable until it should be driven by a driver and the owner should be resting at the passenger seat. You know what I mean? And it is too bulky and too big to my liken. Out immediately it is.

After home, I started to think again and again for another 2 months. ( I took almost 4 months in paying my downpayment in this process of purchase). Trying to get more info from here, as expected, almost everyone running down on Altis (the same few people to be precisely, but appreciated all your points), I then decided to safe 8k and get Altis 1.8G. Is a major risk after hearing so much negative review from the forumers here, and some Altis gen 9 owners who criticized the car's design. The car grows in me, I don't know why. The car looks more n more stunning to me each time. Spotting an Altis gen 10 on the road delighted my eyes. While Civic, yeah, just too common, and frankly, less comfortable.

Now, I just got my car yesterday. Hoo-ray. I am so so in love with it. I have driven a E class before, frankly, Altis really can deliver half of the E class comfy. For a price tag like this, gosh, it's just so unbelievable. I took my baby for a ride the whole night yesterday. From SA to Kl, from KL to PJ. The car it just so .... BORING! Yes, it is so boring until I really feel how I wish I can sleep and drive at the same time! That's just how comfortable it is. The ride isn't bumpy even on those yellow lines, and is quite quiet the whole journey. The interior is just superb. The most criticized wood structure is actually making a huge impression here. It makes the sterling so comfortable to grip on, and the whole cabin looks classic and elegant (i can certify it is not plastic! It is really wood! Some really good wood i believe. ). The sterling, I just got to say, I really love it! The power, hmm, with a light press, it can easily go up to 3 - 4k/r easily. I had to be extra carefully on not to over ride it during this break in process. It is just so hard to maintain below 4k rpm! The FC is just too early to comment, last check on my MID display, it is clocking an average of 11 km/l. That's great! ( I am a very light foot driver). One thing I was wrong about is, the floating feeling isn't there! I am not sure why. Maybe the tyre pressure is a factor. Maybe the car I tested were too bloated with air?? It just didn't happen to my new baby. Ok, one major withdraw, the acceleration from station to move isn't as smooth as Civic2.0. You will have a feeling how u wish u can push the car. Hmm, could it be I was consciously not to press the pedal too hard? I didn't press the pedal much as the needle will go up to 3k or 4k rpm very fast. And that's a no no in the process to break in a car.

Just to boast a bit, I picked up my friend who supported Civic all the way, and the first line he said to me was: " Whoa, it is so luxurious!"

Finally, I just like to say, choose a car that match your personality. I have made mine by against all the reviews and I have no regret at this point. I just hope the ride will be as smooth as my first day for the rest of my time with it . Watch out my shinning white Altis on road folks!
