Got H1B visa working in USA, need advise

I am age 27 this year july, got an offer from job agency in USA offering me H1B visa to work as programmer there.

I need advise from people
1)how to check up on the company
- i did some google, the company is valid, it is listed as top 47 Visa sponsoring company, i called up the office before it is valid too.
-my friend's friend staying in us as spouse visa tried many times applying h1b visa, so she knows the procedure.

2) i had to pay attorney fees of 3000usd
-i googled and seems that attorney fees is a must and ranges from 1k-6k usd.

So...any forumer here gone through the same thing as i am about to going through ?

Anyone able to offer advise and help pretty pleaseeeeeeee

DLINK 500g
IP : 192.168.1.1
subnet mask 255.255.255.0

level one wireless router
IP 192.168.1.2
subnet mask 255.255.255.0

Connect using normal LAN cable to level one router LAN port , assign ip manually to my computer NIC, as
192.168.1.10 ,
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1
DNS: 202.188.0.133
202.188.1.5

This configuration works however i wish to
1) not configure IP and settings manually
2)when my laptop enters the above setting manually and connects to my router, (except ip is 192.168.1.11) i can connect but cannot browse internet..

please help..

Also when i connect DLink to level one WAN port, light stop blinking, my friend advised to use cross link cable to connect to WAN port, and so i did, the light is on, however i cannot ping my DLINK adsl router! Please help....
