Hi all...as per subject..I've been working for for more than 10 years and i hope to be able to take a month long of unpaid leave but am afraid of the consequences it may bring from company's perspective...have only work for about 1 year 4 months with current company..

working in singapore currently and of 29 years of age only....just wanna take a long break to clear my mind and to think of my future path and at the same time attending certain financial short courses that i've been very interested of .. back to subject, how do i convince with a good suggestive reason my company to grant me one month long of leave without leaving any negative perception..appreciate your input...tq!!

P.S:- not being lazy, just wanna put a stop for short while and rethink of my path...

When should you change your car?

Hi All,

As per topic, when do you think you should change your car.

Should you change when you reach certain mileage or a number of years?

As for me, i think one should change at the end of 5th year or 100,000 km so as to maintain the value or before it goes into a period of frequent maintenance.

Some might think its better to wait until loan settled completely then only change to a new ride.

Some might suddenly have a total change in taste of car when their status change (example- strike lottery / raising up a family)

What do you guys think is the ideal reason to change car under normal circumstances for majority of the malaysian?

Withholding Tax

Hi All,

Have a tax planning case for thought with any expert here...Company M incorporated in Malaysia and Company S incorporated in Singapore.

Coy M make regular remittance to Coy S and they have been remitting 100% of the amount for the past few years until recently they realise there's this Section 107A where a percentage will need to be withhold from the recipient due to their non resident status as a Singapore Company.

Remittance made was based on a service provided by Coy S where they employ local Malaysian worker to work in Malaysia and based on a agreed amount, Coy M will b charged by Coy S. This fact was disclosed to show the evidence that the service is originally engaged from Malaysia itself and remittance however is made to Coy S Singapore local bank account.

The amount withhold is quite huge therefore how to go around to b able to save this amount of withholding tax?

My few suggestion as listed below:

Assuming revenue is USD100,000 and COS is USD80,000 not taking into account currency translation and other expenses.

a) Incorporate a local Malaysia company where you will have the management and control exercised in Malaysia to effect the status of the company as a tax resident therefore Section107A will not apply provided the remittance is channelled to this newly incorporated Malaysia Company and be tax at 25% at net profit level. Total Damage is USD5000 approximate (+/-) and the new company still stay at healthy profit level of US$15,000.00

b) Channelled the money to a Malaysian individual Malaysia local bank account and redirect the money to Singapore company. This option not viable cos IRB may chase after you and this is considered money laundering and tax evasion.

c) Open a local joint bank account with Company M where Company S director is the authorised signatory of the bank account. This option not viable too as Company M can at any-time redirect the fund to another account or change the authorised signatory without the other party knowledge and Company M will backfire on this plan sooner or later as they know this wrong from tax perspective.

d)Pay 8%-15% of withholding tax to IRB Malaysia where it will be withhold by Company M and claim this amount as deductible expenses from Singapore IRAS where in substance you will only get a rebate of 17% max from this amount of tax expenses withhold. Total damage will be USD10,000 at 10% withholding tax by IRB at approximate (+/-) and net profit after tax will b US$8300.00 = ( USD100,000-USD80000-USD10,000-USD1700)

Best possible action: I would opt for option A as this is the best tax planning decision to take to save the most if transaction is huge. Anticipated amount of transaction would be at least minimum US$5million annually. Am i correct to say so That opt A is the best or there are more possible option to try?

To Admin, please remove if this is not allowed. Thanks

Renovation sequence

What should i do first once i got my new terrace house? is the sequence below correct?

For basic renovation

1)Renovation of living, kitchen and rooms
[1a] to obtain quote from contractor for plaster ceiling works and tiles work including wiring, number of manhole for lightings, etc

2)installation tv cabinet, kitchen cabinet. (if this not included in point 1)

3)aircond with piping

4)Installation of lightings, fans, electric switches.

5)Installation of water heater and centralised water filter.

6)Alarm and auto gate

7)Lastly, furniture(ie sofa set,bed) and electrical equipments(tv,oven,etc).

Done. Did i miss out something? I only understand from much of my research that i nid to have the floor plan to start my renovation and all the tiles and ceiling works will much depends on the size of sqft that i will be covering.

I bliv this will more or less cover all types of properties.

Hi guys...Nid some opinion here....My gf is finding for a work currently..She is now working as account executive in a commercial company...She possess a degree in a international business and currently pursuing acca...The problem is that i think that she is in a lost of direction now in a way that she might waste her valueable time cause she plan to change his line of career in which she plan to work as either public relation, telecomunicating, event, marketing and etc....In my opinion i think that she will have to start all over again and the stuff that she study is of no use(not working in a relevant role) which make me quite sad cos she wanted to do so....In addition to that, she said that she want to try other types of job(other than what she study for) as for wat she like in the future..

I just feel that she need to have some determination as no matter what kind of job she have switched to will come to no avail and she should not haver a' easily give up attitude'.Btw,she say she dont to work in a finance role because have to work long hours and very stress....hais....so i told her,if this is the reason,no matter what job u have switched to,stress will still be there..i'm quite sad but she seems dont understand what i trying to say...i just scared she wont listen to what i say...
