Liver resection ( hepatectomy )

Hi,
My dad will be undergoing a Liver resection (hepatectomy).
He is 59 years old and do not have any illnesses other than hypertension which is under control with medication.
He had his gall bladder removed around 25 years ago.
My questions are:
1)To rejuvenate the liver,is there a special diet to follow or some supplement to be taken?
2)Barring any complications how long is it required to be hospitalized?
3)Upon discharge can the patient travel by road on a 4hour journey?
