How to get rid of musty smell on rugs

I bought few rugs from oversea. After 6 weeks on the cargo ship, they developed musty smell. Now, I’m looking for proven ways to remove the smell.

The internet mostly recommended soda bicarbonate. Anyone tried this before? Any other alternative that works?

Full Aniline Leather Sofa

I put a deposit for a full aniline leather sofa set yesterday, but today, I started to have a second thought about choosing full aniline instead of semi-aniline.

Any of you guys have experience in owning full aniline sofa/seat? Is is really hard to maintain and easily stain? What care products/brand should I buy?

After 10 years of saving money, I finally bought a dryer for my house.

But then, first time using, I think the dryer is noisy for my liking unlike my washing machine.

My question is, is it normal for a dryer to make a loud noise? Not really alarming sound, but it is noisy compare to a washing machine. I’m wondering if my new dryer is lemon

Buying Display Unit Large Electrical Appliances

Background story:

I bought a front load washing machine few months back. It was an older model, but better than the newer replacement model. The reason I gave it a go was because the newer model was out of stock and new stock would only come about 2 months from the day I needed it.

Unfortunately, when making the rush decision, I forgot to check about the dryer which I was planning to buy later. Now comes the problem. I wanted to buy the dryer, but then the dryer that should be paired with my washing machine is no longer in sale, and the new model looks significantly different from the old model dryer. I have minor OCD which makes me hate to see different dryer paired with my washing machine. In fact, I only buy one brand for my whole kitchen because I don't like seeing mix and match brand for my appliances

Now comes the probable solution for my dryer situation. I saw one seller online (established, 7 years online) was selling the dryer I wanted, but a display unit. What do you guys think? What is the risk of me buying that dryer? Have guys have any experience buying display unit electrical appliances? Can share your experience?

Just talked to my wife just now. She told me a breaking news in her company that the MD instructed to replace all foreign workers with local workers ASAP.

Not sure what's happening, but I think it is a good news to millions of unemployed Malaysian if other companies follow suits.

Maybe should ask anyone you know who is unemployed to start scouting for "Jawatan Kosong" banner in areas infested with foreigners soon.

Carrying out defect rectification ourselves

Dear /ktards, I posted this in property forum, but since that subsection is jalan kampung and no traffic, I decided to go to highway and post again.

I believe there are many property pro here and experienced professional that can answer my question.

I have some problem with the developer with incomplete defect rectification after I sent a final notice giving them 30 days to rectify before I rectify them using my own contractor (as stipulated in the SPA). The deadline ended on 18th October 2020, and I engaged a contractor to rectify the defect. The rectification process is still in progress, and today, I received this letter.

My question is, after I complete the rectification, should I go back to the developer and claim the costs, or should I go direct to tribunal since the developer now formally refuse to acknowledge that the problem persists?

Here is the summarize timeline:
10th July 2020 – received keys
14th July 2020 – sent out defect rectification
15th Aug to 14th Sept 2020 – extend, extend, extend, extend
17th Sept 2020 – Sent out notice to rectify on my own according to my rights stipulated in SPA (30 days notice)
9th October 2020 – I follow up after I see nothing been done, said in progress.
14th October 2020 – Request for 14 days extension. I said If you resolve the crack issue, I will consider, otherwise, no.
18th October 2020, 6.30pm – I went to check the crack, nothing been done.
19th October 2020, Morning – Crack was hid with simple patch, patch mark was visible.
19th October 2020, Afternoon – Crack reappear after the cheapo patch dried.
19th October 2020, Afternoon – I inform the developer, no more extension. Call contractor to measure window frame.
27th October 2020 – Developer contacted me to install new window frame, I said, no, I already ordered myself
30th October 2020 – Developer sent letter said everything has been completed. Consider the matter resolved.

I am deciding between 2 designs for eating area for my kitchen. Each design has it's pros and cons.

If you can add reasoning for you choice, that would be very helpful.

Option 1: Peninsula

Option 2: Small Dining Table for 4

Additional info to add since I become cleverer: I have a proper dining area that can seat 6-8. This is solely for kitchen.

I made myself. Take 2 hours ++ span over two days to make.

Ingredient costs around RM20, the most expensive is whipping cream which is around RM17/2= RM8.50. Yield a 1.5kg cake. How much if I buy outside? I am poor so I seldom buy fancy cake (or in this case actually crepe).

Anyone knows what brand offers the cheapest thermostatic shower mixer in the market? I am trying to shuffle my renovation budget, but I don't want to skimp on anything built in/hard to replace, so right now I am planning to downgrade all the plumbing fixtures in my list which is easily upgrade-able in the future.

The cheapest thermostatic shower mixer I found so far is from IKEA which is priced at RM899. Anything cheaper available in the market? Anyone have experience using IKEA fixtures?

Is it normal for car air conditioner compressor to die on you that early? I was expecting it to last at least for 15 years
