RC Piling Cost

Hi all,

I need to extend 5" at the back of my DSL house for a wet kitchen and the soil at my area is soft. Neighbouring house extended but cracks is happening within a year or 2.

The contractor recommended to do a RC piling. Price quoted as follows:

Concrete piling with concrete bar 20ft, 30pcs - RM13.5k

i was surprised by such a high price. so would like to know if this is a reasonable market price?

also he informed that if i don't need to use so much piles, the remaining are not refundable not sure if this is the market practice?

the extension is only 5'x20', single storey.

thanks in advance

Home Insurance Questions

Hi guys,

I have a question about our home insurance (fire insurance).

When I bought the house few years ago, the price was 200k and the sum insured was 160k. I have been paying this amount all this while as it's from the same bank with my housing loan and every year, they just bill the annual premium into my housing loan account.

But since now the price of houses has increased so much, I think I will have to increase the sum insured right? Normally how to decide the amount? Is it by the bank/insurance company? Or is it based on the market price? Say the houses at my area are being sold at 400k, do I increase the sum insured to 400k?

BTW, what shall I look for if I would to renew and maybe change the insurance company? Is it a must to stay with the same bank which I have the housing loan with?

Thanks
dear all financial sifus,

i have a situation here where i need some advices.

i'm currently looking to buy a car priced at 65k. i have the options to take full loan at the interest of around 2.5% p.a. or i can trade in my existing car worth 17k and take 48k loan.

as my budget for monthly repayment is 1k, i can either take 65k loan for 7 years or 48k loan for 5 years.

if i go for the 65k loan, i can put the extra 17k (from the selling of my existing car) into my housing loan, which the outstanding amount now is around 140k with around 20 years more to go. the current loan interest is at around 5.5% p.a.

since i don't have any financial tools to do the comparison, i would like to know which will be the better option:

1) loan 65k at 2.5% for 7 years and put the 17k into housing loan

2) loan 48k at 2.5% for 5 years and use my monthly budget of 1k to pay for the housing loan principle on the 6th and 7th year.

please advise.

thanks
