Video: Missing Canadian Tourist Elisa Lam Seen Acting Bizarrely Inside Hotel

The search for missing Canadian tourist Elisa Lam, last seen January 31 in Los Angeles, continues, and now the Los Angeles Police Department has released surveillance video of the missing 21-year-old taken inside the hotel where she was staying.

The video shows Vancouver resident Lam entering the elevator at the Cecil Hotel in Downtown, pressing several floor buttons, and then pressing herself against the wall as though she were hiding from someone. The elevator doesn't go anywhere, though, and Lam can be seen edging out the doors, ultimately gesturing in the hallway, possibly in conversation with someone. Lam goes back into the elevator and again presses multiple buttons, but when the elevator doesn't move, she exits.

Lam was last seen in the lobby of the Cecil. She had been in California a few days, and the college student's final destination was reportedly to be Santa Cruz.

Her parents say she last contacted them on the 31st, but that it was extremely unusual for her to not be in touch with them.
Lam is described as an Asian woman of Chinese descent. She has black hair, brown eyes and stands 5 feet 4 inches tall. She weighs about 115 pounds. She is fluent in English and also speaks Cantonese.

According to the "Find Elisa Lam" Facebook page, Lam was last seen wearing a purple/blue t-shirt and black basketball shorts, and she was not wearing her glasses. The LAPD have noted Lam may suffer from mild depression.
Anyone with information about Lam's whereabouts is asked to contact the LAPD.

Woman pays $170 for fake, wooden iPad

A woman in South Carolina has paid $170 for a shiny, brand-new iPad that turned out to be fake, made of wood and not really that shinny.

It seems like Ashley McDowell, from Spartanburg, South Carolina, had never been told that if something sounds too good to be truth, it usually is.

McDowell was reportedly approached by two men in a McDonald’s parking lot who showed her a new iPad and told her one just like that could be hers.

The men explained that they had bought the tablets in bulk and were now trying to sell them for only $281 – the cheapest iPad model retails for $579.

McDowell, who only had $170 on her, must have thought Christmas had arrived early when the men agreed to sell her the iPad for that price.

The ‘golden-hearted’ men then opened the trunk of their white Impala and gave Ms McDowell a FedEx box, which, they promised, contained the fashionable item.

We assume the FedEx box looked genuine enough to Ms McDowell, who didn’t even bother to check its contents until she got home.

Unfortunately, by the time she finally unpacked her precious tablet, she realised that reading an e-book, checking her email, or even posting a new Facebook status with news of her new acquisition was going to prove difficult...

Particularly considering that this particular version of Apple’s popular product was nothing but a piece of wood, painted black and with a Best Buy sticker on the front and an Apple logo on the back for effect.

On the bright side, she probably also discovered that the ‘gadget’ could go for years and years without having to recharge the battery or back-up its contents.

We’ve checked Apple’s official site and, sadly, the ‘Wooden iPad’ is not listed as one of the devices that will support their upcoming iCloud features.

World's "Perfect" Girl Revealed

A new survey by social network site Badoo has revealed what the average male's "perfect" girl looks like.

After asking 2,000 men across Britain, France, Spain, Italy, U.S. and Brazil to rate the features they find most attractive on the opposite sex, Badoo found that most prefer brunettes with blue eyes and a size 14 dress size.

The findings have smashed the idea that men prefer "skinny blondes", with Badoo expressing its surprise at the results.

Are Beautiful People More Selfish?

"I was amazed that blonde hair and size 8 did not top the list," commented Lloyd Price from Badoo.

"Magazines are full of skinny blonde models, so it is nice to see that in reality guys prefer the girl next door look."

In fact 38.8% of men prefer an "average" dress size of 12-14, with just 10% stating that their ideal woman would be a size 6-8.

In addition, nearly 60% of men surveyed said they preferred brown or black hair, with blondes taking just 29.5% of the vote and redheads even less at just 8.8%.

And while brown and green eyes rated highly on the preference list, blue took the overwhelmingly majority with 40.2% of men expressing their preference for light eyes.

Paris Hilton caught with drug

CELEBRITY party girl Paris Hilton has been briefly held by police on the French island of Corsica after being caught with cannabis in her handbag, according to police sources.

Hilton was detained yesterday after arriving at the airport in Figari on a private jet from Paris.

Police found less than a gram of cannabis in her handbag and quickly released her without charge.

According to the Corse-Matin newspaper, she was travelling on the private jet with "people close to power in Malaysia" and was due to travel by yacht to the luxury resort of Porto Cervo in Sardinia, Italy.

The incident was the American heiress's second brush with the law this month.

The 29-year-old was arrested during the World Cup in South Africa after a friend she was with took a joint to the Brazil-Netherlands quarter-final match in Port Elizabeth.

Tabloid darling Hilton, the great-granddaughter of the Hilton hotel chain's founder, shot to fame in 2003 when her boyfriend leaked a video of their sexual escapades on the internet.
