According to the FAQ at American Express website:

If I don't use the full face value of the Travellers Cheque, will I get change back?
Yes, you will get change back, just like cash.

Let's say I buy Sterling Travellers Cheques in UK. If I get change back in Malaysia, e.g. at RHB bank, will I receive the cash in Sterling or MYR?

Hi...

(1) Let's say I buy Sterling Travellers Cheques (value £500) in UK.
(2) When I get back Malaysia, I open a HSBC Foreign Currency Account.

Questions:
[-a-] Will HSBC accept the Sterling Travellers Cheques I bought in UK?
[-b-] If the answer to (a) is a YES, does HSBC impose any fee/commission to accept the Sterling Travellers Cheques?
[-c-] If the answer to (a) is a YES, will the £500 Sterling Travellers Cheques be saved as GBP or MYR in the HSBC Foreign Currency Account?

Other Questions:
[-a-] Do other banks have similar "Foreign Currency Account"?
[-c-] Can we send money from a UK local bank directly to HSBC Foreign Currency Account? If YES, will the sent money be kept in GBP or MYR?
[-b-] Will money changers in Malaysia accept Travellers Cheques? If YES, do they charge any fee or commission?

Annoying high pitch sound of WD Caviar Green 1TB

Hi...

I bought two WD Caviar Green 1TB (WD10EADS) HDDs in May 2010. They're used as backup drives. I seldom used them in the past three months. Recently, I heard the similar sound (when the HDDs did nothing) as described below.

Since 07/28/10, I bought the HDD on 05/22/09, the disk started to make some weird noises, some minutes after it's turn on.

Another thing that could be relevant to this it's that the drive has never been with so little free space, almost 93% of the HDD was full, and the disk was 5% fragmented; by now I have freed some space and today the free space on the disk is up to 21%, and the fragmentation is of 2%.

Could it be a Firmware problem?
Is this disk likely to die at any time now?
Has anyone had a similar problem?

You may find more complaints at the following links. Both of my WD Caviar Green 1TB HDDs were manufactured in Malaysia. I believe some of our friends in this forum work in the Western Digital at Petaling Jaya. Do you think both my WD Caviar Green are still OK and safe to be used as backup drive?

After I installed almost all the software in the Gigabyte X58A mobo's CD, I found out there is a folder "obj" in C:\Program Files directory (see attached figure below). Do you think these files can be deleted? If not, what are they for? Thanks.

How is a Core i7 920 packaged in a retail box?

Does it come with a plastic holder/protector as shown in figures below?

It looks to me that all i7 920, as shown in many Youtube video, comes with the plastic holder. What does it mean if my retail unit comes WITHOUT the plastic holder? Is it a OEM unit?

Say we go to Lowyat Plaze or Imbi Plaza to buy a Gigabyte X58 motherboard. When the shop receives the motherboard from the vendor or distributor, is the motherboard packed in a sealed box? When customer buys the motherboard at the shop counter, is the box still sealed or opened already? Thanks.

Confusing with the following terms: thread, hyper-threading, and dual-channel.

See the processors in the attached figure below.

My friend has a computer with an Intel Core 2 E8400 installed on MS-7507-040 (with 3GB RAM). Only two CPUs are shown in the Windows Task Manager. I expected to see four CPUs in the Task Manager, but how come it's only two...

In my old computer with P4 3.0GHz (2GB RAM), I can see two CPU in the Task Manager.

I wonder how many CPUs I will see in the Task Manager for Intel Core i5? Is it 4 threads? Or, is it 8 threads?

Besides, one of the specs is "voltage" or "test voltage". Which of the following is the best (e.g. for overclocking)?

Can Windows XP Home and XP Professional support multi-core processor like Core i5 750? Can the Windows XP Home and XP Professional "see" all the 4 cores in Core i5 750?

"Penceraian" - "Pembubaran"

I went to mahkamah recently. I found a document about "penceraian" attached to one of the notice boards. I was shocked when I found the name of my friend, who I've not met him for a long time, was on the document. Part of the document was attached below. Under the "Permohonan" column, some stated as "Pembubaran", while others stated as "Pembatalan". What do these words mean? For my friend, it's stated as "Pembubaran". Does it mean my friend filed an application to "approve" his application to "bercerai", or to "bubarkan" his application to "bercerai"? I wish to make it clear so that in future if I meet him, I will not speak the wrong words that might hurt him.
