How to restore laptop to factory settings?

I previously used Windows XP Home edition which was preinstalled in my laptop when i bought it. However recently the computer was infected by a serious virus, so i had to reinstall windows. But this time i installed windows XP Professional instead...it's the "ehem" version. Now im facing problems with shutting down my computer. Whenever i click "shut down"...it goes through the whole process properly, but then suddenly the blue screen will appear with this message:

QUOTE

STOP C000021A {Fatal System Error}
The windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0X00000000 (0X00000000 0X00000000)
The system has been shut down.

Then i must press the off button manually to switch it off. System restore also cannot use because cannot shut down properly.
Besides this problem, the windows genuine copy notification thing keeps popping up and telling me that mines is not genuine. This is all getting rather annoying, so i wanna reinstall my laptop with the previous OS which was Windows XP Home (original). The problem is, i don't have the cd with me...I never had one since the thing was preinstalled in my computer. Is there some kinda way i can get my laptop restored back to its default factory settings?

Here's my computer specs btw:
Laptop Brand and model: Acer Aspire 5502ZWXCi
Windows XP Home (previous one) Windows XP Professional (current one)
Intel Pentium M processor 740
(1.73GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 2MB L2 cache)
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900
60GB HDD
256MB DDR2 RAM

Please help me!

Slow and sluggish computer =_=

Hi. I have an acer aspire 5500z laptop (specs in spoiler below). The prob is, my comp is becoming slower and slower nowadays. When i first got my laptop, it was working nicely and everything was fast despite only having 256mb of ram. But now it's so terribly slow. When i startup my computer, it takes at least 6-8mins before i can actually use/open a program. Shutdown also slow. Takes about 2-3mins. Then opening programs are such a drag. Especially firefox. It freezes up a lot. I've also checked my memory usage, and it seems that i only have about 15000mb of physical memory left eventhough im just using firefox and windows messenger. Please help me, and tell me what's going on? ;_____;

Computer Specs:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2
1.73Ghz Intel Pentium M processor 740
Intel Graphics Accelerator 900
60GB HDD
256MB DDR2 Ram

Antivirus and Anti Spyware:
Avast Antivirus (always updated)
A-Squared spyware detector (updated as well)
Spybot search and destroy.

Firefox 2
Add-ons: chatzilla, firebug, foxytunes.

Notebook LCD screen problem.

I bought my acer notebook about 2 years ago. It's an acer aspire 5500Z series. The problem with it now is that on the left side of my screen, there are small horizontal lines going across it. (Red lines) But it just seems to be happening on the left side of the screen. These lines are not so visible when i change my desktop wallpaper to a bright (white color) but is really visible when the desktop wallpaper is a dark color (like dark red). Sometimes it becomes even worse, and the whole screen just becomes crazy and all the colors are mixed together and like cannot see anything much besides the mixed colors on the screen. But once i press the screen at certain areas (top part of the screen usually)...It'll go back to the usual horizontal lines, and if i press and hold on the screen, the lines totally disappear. But once i stop holding the screen, the lines appear again. =(
What's wrong with it? o_O

Another thing about the screen is that im sometimes getting a blank screen. Sometimes the whole screen just turns blue, sometimes red, and etc. But the main thing is, it's just blank. The programs that i was on are still running though. For example if im using msn while this happened, i can still chat with my friend (and hear the message sound). But i can't see anything on the screen. And if im using winamp while this problem occurs, i can still hear the music even though the screen is blank. So i know the problem is with the screen. >_< So far my only solution when this happens is that i switch my computer to hibernate mode. Once i hibernate it, i can see the "windows is hibernating" sign, and screen appears to be normal at that point. And once i switch it back from hibernation, the screen goes back to normal.
So any idea what's going on with it?
