Remembering the Nintendo Family Computer

Hey guys. Decided to start a thread on Nintendo's most influential and highly successful machine, the Family Computer! I'm sure if you were born in the 80s, you'll remember the FC quite well I have spent countless of hours with my Famiclone (Never owned the real deal) and had great fond memories playing it with my friends and family

Until today, I still regard the machine as one the greatest home consoles EVER. The FC was very huge here in Malaysia (thanks to the pirates *grin*) so I'm pretty sure I'm not the only FC nut around Feel free to post anything related to it in this thread! I'd like to hear your stories about it 8-Bit FTW!!!

[addedon]December 9, 2009, 6:16 pm[/addedon]There were many Made In Taiwan clones of the FC here in Malaysia - Micro Genius is one of the more 'branded' clones released, the others were more generic and looks almost identical to the original, but with different color schemes (My clone is grey/white with orange turbo buttons). What clone model do you own? I'd like to know..

Interesting story, I used to think that the American design of the Famicom - the NES, was the original design the Famicom was based on. And one day, my schoolmate offered to sell me a genuine Famicom and I understood it as the American NES. When I recieved the console, I was disappointed, felt cheated, returned it and got my money back (He sold it to me at 50 ringgit!!!) I was obviously a stupid dork back then..

Looking forward to hear some of your stories here

Looking for Console Opening Tools

Hi console couchers

I'm looking for tools to open up consoles, notably the infamous Gamebit type screws of 4.5 and 3.8 mm diameters. I've heard about the Access Pro Toolkit v2 which has everything needed to open consoles from the old to the latest ones. I have tried a few shops in Jln Pasar but no luck with them.

There are a couple on sale in eBay, but they are all located in UK or US. Since it's a China product, I thought I could easily source for one over here. Probably some of you here may know how or where I can purchase these locally?

Thanks!

Where to buy vintage video game systems?

Hi guys, Would appreciate if any of you come across any shop here in KL / Selangor that sells vintage old school consoles/handhelds of the 80s and 90s. I'm particularly looking out for old Famicoms, Megadrives, Super Famicom, Gameboy (1989 white brick), GameGear, NeoGeo AES, Jaguar, PCEngine, Sega MasterSystem, etc..

I doubt there's any around here, but I may be wrong..

Thanks for your time. Please do not forget the good old gaming days.. Time spent with your (most probably clone) famicoms back in the school days...
