Plug fix for tyre puncture

Had a puncture on my tyre by a screw, and was fix with the usual plug method.
Near the edge or the surface.

Is this plug method safe enough for highway travelling?

The tyre looks like it still have about 50% of thread lifespan still, but I'm not sure if its still safe for long distance travelling on highway?

House Renovation Regulations

The info I am looking for is guideline regarding what is allow and what is not in extending our house.
Especially dimensions like how far we can extend.

I assume such regulations is different from state to state?
Or is there a general guideline for whole Malaysia?

ps: reason is I am just planning in advance first, what we can do with the new house.
Have not talk to any contractor as we won't be doing the renovation anytime soon

Is This Storage Setup Possible?

Hi everyone
Need some advice if this is possible.

Here is what I need.

An external storage to keep all my large files, maybe WD My Cloud, or Synology/QNAP NAS if needed.
Backup all of that to online backup service like Backblaze (or any recommended service)

Reason why I have some doubts is because service like Backblaze is to backup the PC, but not a NAS.
So I am not sure how I can get the data on the external storage to be backup.

Anyone have any idea on how this can be done?
Feel free to recommend any backup service or external storage/NAS that is needed.

Need advice on buying DVD/Blu-Ray from US

I would like to purchase some TV series DVD set (or Blu-Ray) from Amazon.com, but I have no experience in importing anything from US, so would like to have some advice on what's the best method to do so.

Firstly, is it better to purchase myself, or use one of those US bulk purchase forwarding agent service?

As for purchasing myself, may I know how the tax and GST work. Will Kastam hold our items if have tax? Also, how do we pay for any tax or GST if have.

Where to buy Creative soundcard in Malaysia?

For some reason I am unable to find any shops that sell new Creative hardwares. I'm looking for the Sound Blaster Z sound card because it has Optic Input which I need. I look at Asus sound card but they don't seem to support Optic Input.

Is there any local retailers that sell this card? Thanks

From what I understand, the PS2 sold in Asia are those scph-xxxx6 which is NTSC-J version. So are Asian user restricted to Japanese version games only? Or can our console play NTSC-U games as well.

TMnet doesn't allow trace route?

I'm trying to solve some online game issue and we have to perform a trace route ping, unfortunately all trace route don't seem to work.

It would ping 192.168.1.1 -> 175.137.109.xxx and after that all will fail.
So it seams it can't go beyond tmnet network

Edit: This fails too when I try google.com or yahoo.com. Not just a particular address.

Any other way to check the connection? thanks

Cutscene movie is louder than the game

New player here, just gotten Wings of Liberty

Anyway I notice the cutscene movie is much louder than the game itself. I've already turn the master volume down and the game sound quite low now, but the cutscene movie still loud.

Like for example, during a game the NPC will say there's new tutorial video to view. When I play the video, it's very loud and I have to turn the speaker down each time I play a tutorial video or cutscene.

Is this normal for the game, or something wrong with my setup?

Possible to make the xbox controller work with old

I bought the xbox controller and its working fine with the new Mortal Kombat Kollection game and also with PS2 emulator. All diagonal direction can be detected.

However I have problem with the emulator for Sega Genesis. It can detect up down left right, but diagonal cannot work.

From what I understand, xbox controller is not using direct input like other controllers, so could this be the problem?
Any way to fix this?

Planetary Annihilation (RTS Kickstarter)

Just want to share a Kickstarter project here which I think is quite interesting. A RTS game similar to Total Annihilation and these people have worked on C&C Generals Zero Hour, Sup Com and Total Annihilation.

From what I understand, that video is just an animation to show the gameplay concept. The TF2 graphics is not the actual game graphics.

Anyway, I think they have quite some interesting RTS concept, even if don't per-order the kickstarter thing, its worth keeping an eye on this project and see what they come up with.

Defense Grid 2 Kickstarter

I've been a huge fan of Defense Grid and just like all the other fans, we would really love to see Defense Grid 2. So I'm just helping to spread the word for anyone interested.

They've started a new kickstarter, and although the initial goal is 250k, higher target will help release better feature like level editor.

Its confirmed that once they pass the required amount, just like Wasteland 2, they will add a Paypal option later on. Will update here if that happens.

Do note that unlike other Kickstarter, the actual aim for a full Defense Grid 2 is 1 million dollar. Lower amount will only help bring the new game engine, remaster previous contents, and add in new feature like multiplayer, co op and level editor.

But whatever happens, even for just $15, you will get all of it:

Well, I'm just one of those outdated people who don't have a smartphone yet (not until I start working).

But with all the hacking case going on, I dare not wait any longer to use it. There are some software out there that can run android apps. Will this work?

Do we need to input our password into the apps to get it to work?

In the morning, my computer crash with the main screen turning light blue. I have a main 24" monitor, and another 20" extended, only the main monitor screen suddenly become light blue.

Just moments ago now, another crash while playing games, this time BSOD. The BSOD code is 3B

From what I can find online, many people say 3B is usually graphics card related. So far it does seems like graphic card.

But anyway I use a tool to analyze the dump file, and this is the info it gives me.

Now I'm confuse. Its saying some port problem and sound card driver problem? I have this setup for more than a year already, never had any problem till today. Creative no longer update the driver so this is the latest I have.

Any idea what to do next?

What happened was today it detected that a few .exe file in a particular folder is infected by Win32/Gael.D. This are legit programs like online game installer, hjsplit, and games modding tool installer. So I thought it was a false alarm and I went to allow it.

Then later I realize that I had enable sharing on that folder yesterday and I forgot to turn it off. So the infection may have come from my parent's computer when they turn it on this morning.

Anyway, I wish to "disallow" that detected virus again but I cant find any setting in MSE to reset all allowed list. Anyone knows how to do it?

Last week tmnet contacted my dad and offer to upgrade to the 2M blockbuster package. The next day when they call back, my dad agree to it and he say they will have a technician here by this week.

Well, its Wednesday already but we still haven't receive any news, or any technician showing up.

Changing RAM with CL7 to CL9

I am currently using a high performance DDR3 RAM with CL7 timing, but these days I can't afford expensive RAM like this anymore. I need more RAM and right now, 1600MHz CL9 RAM seems to be the best price, so I thought of replacing my RAM with these CL9

On paper, CL9 is slower than CL7 timing of course, but I'm wondering if I will see any real performance impact in games or any software I run?

Is is possible that Tmnet could detect bit-torrent

This is something I noticed recently when I'm using bit-torrent through VPN. VPN does allow BT to utilize my line speed fully, so at first that seems like VPN do hide P2P traffic as it should.

However recently, I've been experiencing constant line "disconnect" while downloading through BT in VPN. Its not that the line completely disconnect, but all data transmission seems to stop for a while. I can't even browse any website so this is not just the BT traffic, but my entire line stops data transfer for awhile.

Here's some screen shot of the network activity while I'm using BT.

However, when I download something directly from a website, I don't see anything like this even at full speed. I'm also doing this through the VPN service, so there's nothing wrong with the VPN service either.

Note that non-VPN connection is also dropped during that pause, tmnet is dropping my entire connection, not just the VPN traffic.

So from what I can observe, it seems like TMNet starts dropping my line only when I'm BT. But question is how do they know when I'm doing everything through a VPN?

Anyone else experienced this before?

Who runs the server for MW3?

Sorry for starting a new thread, if this belongs to an existing thread, hopefully mod can help merge.

Anyway, can anyone give me an idea about how MW3 multiplayer server works. Are they hosted by the company themself, or are they rented servers that's run by clan or anyone from the public?

Rather not start a flame war, so lets just say I've had horrible experience in some other game where the online servers all relies on people from the public (clan, any group of gamers or so on) renting servers and so these admins who have full control of the server use it to their advantage and pretty much ruin the experience.

I just want to know if MW3 servers are prone to such abuse too
