Vacuum tube vs Solid state

Recently I having a chance to have audition on vacuum tube sound system, it sounds very good even with the very entry level hybrid amplifier+ 2 speakers (around RM1000+)

is it high end audio all is vacuum tube? if yes, is it mean vacuum tube sounds more superior than those solid state one?

Digital VS Analogue

I have a Asus Xonar D2x Soundcard pair with my Edifier S530d speaker. My understanding all the while is the sound will be better if using a digital interface (toslink from soundcard to speaker etc). This seems make sense to me throughout my experience of my S530d speaker pair with on board sound card and also my previous prodigy 7.1 HIfi soundcard.

But things start to confuse me when i switch to Asus xonar D2X soundcard. When I first purchase the card, as usual, i use a toslink cable to wire up my speaker and until 1 day i decided to try it on the analogue output port. Strange! I try it again and again with different song, I find that the anolog output somehow have a better details than the toslink connection.

Thus, I decided to initiate this topic and may some of the guru can point out the reason.
