http://forum.lowyat.net/ Wed, 10 Jun 2026 03:11:29 +0800 FeedCreator 1.7.2 http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2200441 I had bought a system 1 months ago, the specs was as below:<br /><br />AMD FX8150 @4.2Ghz <br />Sapphire 6970 BFBC2 Vietnam<br />Kingston Value Ram 1333 (2x4GB)<br />Gigabyte 990XA-UD3<br />Seagate 500GB (salvage from laptop) <br />Corsair H80<br />Creative X-FI Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Pro (salvage from old desktop)<br />Corsair HX850<br />Samsung S24A350H<br /><br />Now I&#39;m thinking on upgrading the memory and storage.<br /><br /><u>Memory</u><br />The reason I&#39;m running the CPU @ 4.2Ghz is because the system is unstable when I OC to 4.4Ghz<br />I&#39;m suspecting that either the processor itself or the KVR that I&#39;m using is causing this.<br />I would like try my luck by upgrading to a more OC friendly ram. I&#39;m aiming on Gskill 1600 CL9 now, how is it?<br /><br /><u>Storage</u><br />As you can see, I&#39;m currently using the laptop HDD for my rig, which I think it&#39;s the most worst bottleneck. <br />Now i&#39;m thinking of upgrading to 120GB SSD + 1TB/2TB HDD combo.<br />Which brand and model of SSD + HDD should I choose?<br />Or should I just get a 1TB HDD now and upgrade when HDD price is back to &quot;normal&quot; level?<br /><br /><br />Any other recommendations are welcomed.
