Woman loses RM33,000 in envelope lucky draw scam

JOHOR BARU: A 32-year-old assistant administrative officer claims that she was conned of RM33,000 after being promised prizes, including a brand new car and a trip for two to Hong Kong.

The woman, who only wished to be known as May, said a man called Alvin had approached her at Jalan Station last Saturday and asked her to open one of several envelopes to find out if she had won any prizes

“I opened the envelope and was told that I had won a jade mattress and that I needed to follow him to his office in Permas Jaya to pick up the prize. At the office, Alvin introduced me to his boss called Lim,” she told a press conference organised by Johor Baru MCA Youth chief Kua Song Tuck here yesterday.

Lim offered her other prizes, including a new Toyota Camry and a trip for two to Hong Kong if she participated in a lucky draw. She, however, had to pay RM33,000 to secure the prizes.

“I withdrew the money and Alvin took it while I was talking to Lim. I asked for my money back but instead, Lim give me a water filter, microwave oven, a jade mattress and other electronic items,” she said, adding that she felt cheated and lodged a police report at Permas Jaya police station.

Johor Baru (South) OCPD Asst Comm Zainuddin Yaakob confirmed the case and said the matter has been transferred to the Johor Domestic Trade and Consumerism Department for further action.

Michael Chong accused of not helping injured woman

KUALA LUMPUR: After helping many people solve their personal problems, Datuk Michael Chong is himself caught in a controversy.

The MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head has been accused of ignoring a single mother who appealed to him to help pay her hospital bill of RM19,000.

Norizan Salleh, 30, who was injured during a police car chase, told the press last Wednesday that Chong had turned down her appeal for help.

Norizan was admitted to the hospital with five gunshot wounds on Oct 30 last year.

She was travelling in a stolen car with two men and another woman when police opened fire at the vehicle during a car chase in the 4.30am incident.

Since the news was published, many people had called up and condemned Chong for not helping the woman.

Recalling the first meeting with Norizan at Wisma MCA here on Nov 16 last year, Chong said he took photographs of her injuries and asked for a copy of her hospital bill.

“She left to take the bill and never returned,” Chong said at a press conference to clarify the issue yesterday.

“The public can accuse me of anything but they do not know the reason why she was shot by police,” Chong said.

Chong learnt from City CID chief Senior Asst Comm (II) Datuk Ku Chin Wah that the woman had allegedly been involved in a police case.

The two men Norizan was with in the car had been charged for various offences, including obstructing police from carrying out their duties and possession of dangerous weapons.

“It’s not me refusing to help but I can’t. I could not start a public fund-raising (campaign) for her because her injuries were a result of her involvement in a police case,” Chong explained.

what you say?

I am almost 29 but never in a relationship, I have try to approched several girls before, went out makan2 and watch cinema but after sometimes I got bored and I did not pursue my intention already. Now that i want relationship but i afraid the same thing will happen again got bored and stop pursuing my intention. I also very lazy to reply sms from my friends and seldom responded to their call whenever they asked me out. My daily routine is go to work, back from work, makan, sleep, surfing, watch TV and sometimes window shopping and driving around KL. Sometimes eat at starbuck, kenny rogers, nandos, coffee beans and sometimes reflexogy. Do i have potential to become old bachelor? I dont have any friend girls that close with me now. How to make my life more meaningful and happening?
please advise

Updated: i also think i have socialize problem because in the past few of my friends take advantage of me by promoting their Multilevel Marketing and seem like they want to force me to buy even though i dont want. become annoyed and become content to my own world.

I am not gay either, because i like to see girls. My only concern is " I have try to approched several girls before, went out makan2 and watch cinema but after sometimes I got bored and I did not pursue my intention already " i know the girls can feel that i have stop pursuing my intention and they started to look other bf and after sometime coincidently at Watson , caffeour or midvalley i saw the girls that i have dated before and they came near me and say 'Hi how are you..long time no see...how life.

Dream Workplace in KL
Considering the distance of your house, mode of transport, budget, traffic level and so fort where is the location you wish to work? Cyberjaya? Damansara? Bukit Bintang? Shah Alam? PJ?

I create this topic because I know some people go to work as early as 5.30 am to catch the KTM train or watsoever and going back late at night..no chance to see the sun light from home sweet home other than weekend.

and I also know some people who have enough sleep get up 8.00 am and the workplace is just in the neighbourhood.

And I also need you all opinion on this situation.

someone stay in KL and work in KL earn RM3500 but have another option to work at cyberjaya and earn RM4500. Considering MONEY is the issue
NOT career prospect, nice environment. which one he should choose? he will use car if work at cyberjaya and only use Monorail if work in KL.
If you are him , which one you should choose. Both are reputable company..and once again MONEY is the issue here.

please air your opinion. Thanks
