Former Proton CEO makes a shock return

http://paultan.org/2012/02/03/former-proto...s-shock-return/

QUOTE

Tengku Tan Sri Mahaleel Tengku Ariff, the outspoken former Proton chief, is set to make a shock return to the national carmaker, which is now under DRB-Hicom’s ownership. Business Times reports that the ex CEO will probably return as chairman of Proton, leading the company into another new phase.

“More or less, it’s almost a done deal,” a source close to DRB-Hicom told BT. If true, TM will replace Datuk Seri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh, who was one of the bidders for Khazanah Nasional Bhd’s 42.74% stake in Proton.

Tengku Mahaleel’s last stint in Proton ended on 30 September 2005, when his contract was not renewed by the board of directors led by Datuk Mohammed Azlan Hashim, then the chairman of Proton. TM joined Proton as Vice Chairman, Strategy & Operations in 1996 and was with the company for over nine years. The official statement then explained that Proton is a “national asset, an institution of sorts and not a private entity.”

Prior to his departure, he did a controversial interview with a Chinese daily, disagreeing with the way the national automotive industry was heading. “Automobile assembly means you just need screw drivers, you don’t need die and mould and engine factory. If the government only needs the automobile assemblers, we can then grab a Mitsubishi car, fix it with a Proton emblem and say: ‘Nah, this a Proton car’,” he was quoted as saying.

Counsellor or courtesan?

The sex therapist who sleeps with her patients

By Mandy Appleyard

When Padma Deva meets a new client for work she does so not in an office or coffee bar but in the privacy of a hotel room. The meeting typically lasts for two hours during which time the two of them are likely to undress, massage and caress one another. Sometimes they will have full sexual intercourse.

At the end of the encounter, the satisfied client will pay Padma for the service she has provided and the two will go their separate ways — until their next appointment. You may conclude that Padma works in ‘the oldest profession’ of all. But you would be wrong.

Padma is not a prostitute but a trained psychotherapist who acts as a ‘sexual surrogate’ for men suffering from a variety of sexual problems which are hampering their ability to have a normal physical relationship.
Sexual healing: Padma Deva helps men overcome their relationship fears over nine two-hour sessions for which she charges £4,000

Sexual healing: Padma Deva helps men overcome their relationship fears over nine two-hour sessions for which she charges £4,000

Her clients include lawyers and doctors as well as students and builders. Some are married, others not. But all are suffering from issues such as erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation or crippling shyness.

Her oldest client is aged 65 while the youngest is 25 — both men consulted Padma because they were virgins and felt unable to have any sort of sex life. Padma helps them overcome their fears over nine two-hour sessions for which she charges £4,000.

Yet despite the veneer of clinical respectability, sexual surrogacy is a deeply controversial practice. Critics, perhaps understandably, dismiss it as morally reprehensible, degrading and, at the very least, of dubious therapeutic benefit. Some have even questioned its legality, although there are no laws specifically prohibiting it.
Padma was inspired by the film Sweet November and says that she saw herself in the Keanu Reeves character

Padma was inspired by the film Sweet November and says that she saw herself in the Keanu Reeves character

Padma — a slender and strikingly attractive 31-year-old brunette — is used to hearing such accusations, which is why she has agreed to speak openly for the first time about her work in a bid to dispel some of the misunderstandings that surround it, though she would not consent to be photographed for fear of attracting unwelcome attention in public.

She argues that although we may live in a liberal age, those with sexual problems seldom have the confidence to discuss their issues openly, even with partners. That is where sexual surrogates like her come in.

Trained by the International Professional Surrogate Association, Padma says her role is to be a form of mentor, guiding people who are struggling with intimacy issues.

She and the client meet in a hotel room or rented accommodation for the sessions. Through a mixture of talking and physical exercises, she will teach them how to communicate their desires, and how to manage anxiety so they can connect intimately with a ‘normal’ partner.

Yet some critics, particularly those practising traditional psychology or psychosexual therapy, worry that sexual surrogacy is laden with potential problems of its own. Clinical psychologist Dr Michael Mantell says: ‘The services of a surrogate do not resolve underlying emotional and relationship difficulties. Surrogacy may teach about sexuality, but it does not teach about love or how to maintain a loving relationship.’

So what sort of woman volunteers to become a surrogate in the first place? Padma is a former management consultant who decided to transform her life after watching the film Sweet November, in which Keanu Reeves plays an emotionally-inert workaholic.
WHO KNEW?
One in ten men suffer from erectile dysfunction

Padma had been an over-worked twenty-something, worrying about where her frenetic lifestyle might take her, but the film inspired her to seek an alternative career.

She says: ‘I saw myself in the Keanu Reeves character, then I thought, wouldn’t it be fantastic to be able to free someone? Some time later I saw an advert in a spiritual magazine for people to train as sexual surrogates, and that’s how I started out.’

Her family were initially shocked by her radical career change, though they are now supportive of her. Equally, she says that while she is currently single, previous boyfriends have been understanding about her line of work. ‘It takes confidence, intelligence and maturity in a man to be OK with what I do,’ she says.

It may all sound more than slightly suspect, but sexual surrogacy is based on clinical work carried out in the Fifties by sex researchers William H. Masters and Virginia E. Johnson, who embarked on an 11-year study involving 510 married couples, 54 single men, and three single women.
The researchers recruited 54 carefully-screened women volunteers to work as surrogate partners with the single men.

Previously, sexual problems were treated by psychotherapy or psychoanalysis, with low success rates. But Masters and Johnson developed a two-week treatment programme they claimed was 80 per cent effective. The success rate for the single men who worked with surrogates was 75 per cent.

Padma, too, claims significant results for her work. She says almost all of the clients she has seen for premature ejaculation issues have been able to improve the duration of their love-making from a typical 30-60 seconds initially, up to and beyond the male average of five to ten minutes.

Similarly, she says 90 per cent of her erectile dysfunction clients have learned how to gain an erection without relying on medication such as <removed>. ‘Every client I’ve worked with has left the programme with new-found confidence,’ she says.

Alan (not his real name), a 28-year-old clerical worker, decided to see Padma because he was a virgin with no confidence around women. Alan says his life was miserable because of his lack of sexual experience, which he thinks results from shyness.

‘It also made me think of myself as worthless. I once dated and fell in love with a lovely girl who seemed to be attracted to me. I remember her waiting for me to make the first move sexually, but I didn’t have a clue what to do, so I made up some weak excuse and went home.

‘I read about the Mughal era in India, where they would send young boys to specialised prostitutes who would educate them in the art of love-making. I remember wishing something like that had been available to me.’

Alan has had three sessions with Padma so far. She has talked to him about relationships and the female anatomy, and introduced sensual touching into their meetings. ‘Usually a session will start with Padma explaining the theory behind the exercises, then we move on to the physical acts,’ he says.

‘In one session we covered the naked body, hugs and sensual touching of the back. I had a breakthrough moment during the massage exercise, when at first I went into panic mode, worried about my performance. We stopped and did some grounding breathing exercises then tried again, and I enjoyed it.’

Alan says his confidence has grown immeasurably and he is now so optimistic about the future that he has signed up to a dating website — something he would previously have been too nervous to do.

But psychologist Dr Mantell questions whether such cases wouldn’t be better treated by more conventional forms of therapy. ‘Turning to sexual surrogacy can be an emotionally messy experience. Clients become attached to their surrogates, the objects of their sexual fantasies, and this can lead to difficulties in transferring feelings to one’s spouse or partner.’

As for the impact on her own wellbeing, Padma says she has never had a negative experience with a client, and far from feeling in any way degraded by her work, she finds it emotionally fulfilling. ‘It is wonderful to witness the transformation my clients undergo, and knowing I have played a part in that is very rewarding,’ she explains.

During an initial consultation with a new client, Padma — who has bases in London and Somerset — recommends a client sees their GP to rule out physical causes for their sexual problems, such as diabetes or high blood pressure. If surrogacy is deemed appropriate, she asks clients to take a sexually transmitted disease test beforehand. Only then can then the surrogacy work begin.

To start with, both client and surrogate may remain fully clothed, focusing on exercises such as touching each other’s hands, arms, shoulders and face. As the therapy advances, the client and the surrogate may build up to removing their clothes, engaging in genital contact and, if necessary and appropriate, full sexual intercourse.

It is those final stages that many find perilously close to prostitution. But Alan is adamant that whatever name you choose to give it, his therapy has had a hugely positive impact on his life.

‘To the sceptics, I would say that it is giving me a chance to have a life I could only dream of — and what’s wrong with that?’

For foreveralone ?

Is it too good to be true?

<s>
Dear CC,

It’s quite rare for me to post a topic over here. Actually, there is something I would like to share about my life and I seek to hear your humble opinions. I have known this girl, ‘A’ when I was studying for my diploma. We studied in the same class during first semester. ‘A’ was a cheerful and bubbly person. Physically ‘A’ is quite cute although not really a hot babe material since she never wore revealing outfit. We were both always doing group discussions and revisions together with other colleagues in the library. At that time, I considered ‘A’ as one of my close female friends although we never went out together. Then the second semester came, ‘A’ and I registered in different class. Actually, we didn’t have intention to be in the same class and I don’t mind about it but since we were in the same course, we sometimes accidentally bumped each other during lab sessions. ‘A’ always noticed me and we chatted to update each other’s news but we weren’t as close as before. 2 years later, we completed our diplomas.

I went to England to pursue for my bachelor degree and same goes to ‘A’ where she went to Wales to continue her studies. During that time, social networking website such as Friendster was a big thing. We managed to track each other in Friendster and exchanged MSN/YM contacts. Studying in UK is different especially during winter where the weather isn’t great for outdoor activities, thus lazing myself in front of the laptop while chatting with ‘A’ was one of my pastime activities. We chatted a lot in MSN, sometimes we even chatted up straight for 4 hours. I managed to get to know her better on online than we were in the same college back then. I was stunt later when ‘A’ told me the truth that she actually had a ‘crush’ on me when we were in first semester. I paused for a moment and the awkwardness surrounded the conversation. I didn’t know how to react and tried to calm down as if nothing happened. We changed the topic and ended the conversation earlier than usual. I started to think and looking back our memories recollection. ‘A’ was quite popular with the guys back then, even one of my close friends tried to woo her but failed. I never thought of ‘A’ more than a ‘friend’ and she’s even not in my woo list either but I enjoyed and felt comfortable talking to her. A few months later ‘A’ got disconnected from MSN, even her friendster wasn’t updated. I thought her laptop had broken or she has internet disruption. I’ve sent her messages in friendster and YM but no reply avail. I did have an intention to visit her place during summer break but I was quite a fool back then for not having her UK phone number, well maybe it’s a fate. Soon after that, I graduated and came back home for good. Like any other graduates, I managed to get a permanent job and my journey in working life has begun.

Fast forward to 2009 which is 5 years later (yeah you heard it correct, it’s 5), ‘A’ suddenly came back into the picture when she messaged me in YM (Note: I still have her YM) in invisible mode somewhere in July. Personally, I was astonished and a bit angry at the same time. We chatted again but I wasn’t comfortable like I used to be plus I wondered why the heck she’s in invisible mode. The conversation ended where she gave her current e-mail address and asked me to write to her whenever I have time. In the end I didn’t e-mail to her at all.

One evening, not long after that, ‘A’ buzzed me in YM again in invisible mode. I did ask her about the invisible mode, and she replied that she doesn’t want to be seen by certain ‘people’. So I said “ok”. ‘A’ warmed up the conversation and started to reminisce about old days during our college years. ‘A’ even told me that she caught a fever and all of sudden she asked about my house phone number. I asked her back why? And she answered that she needed to speak to me. I declined and gave lame excuses about my parents sitting in front TV might be eavesdropping our conversation. I asked for her current mobile number but she refused and told me that she just terminated her line because of some stalkers keep bugging her. I bound not to believe it anyway and asked for her house phone number instead. ‘A’ finally gave it and I called her straight away using my mobile.

We started our phone conversation with one weird indescribable feeling as we haven’t contacted each other for 5 years. I felt more uneasy when ‘A’ said she missed my voice and her fever made her suddenly wanted to speak to me. In my mind I was like “WTF?” ‘A’ said she stills single and no one wanted her as a girlfriend but I was very sceptical. So, I keep following her drift until around 15 minutes later I ended the phone conversation by saying my sister had called me to do some errand.

It was unspeakable moment for me. After so long and almost forgotten, I thought her of moving on with her own life but suddenly she contacted me and said some cheesy things. It’s either I’m one of the luckiest moron compared to her wooers or ‘A’ had a nutcase. Seriously, I had goosebumps that day. Pardon me for thinking too much. I’ve given a thought of sending her ‘Hari Raya’ greetings if it’s appropriate but looking back what we’ve been going through especially due to her very long disappearance; I think I shouldn’t have taken it seriously. Do you think so?

p/s : Sorry for the wall of text, TL;DR is impossible </s>

Edited : Ok guys, I got the message. I'm closing this thread for good. Thanks for the fruitful advice and opinions.

I lost weight and decided I couldn't take it any longer and resigned.'

Miss Kajla, from Wolverhampton, is claiming compensation for constructive unfair dismissal.

The respondents are listed as the 'Secretary of State for Justice and others', understood to include prison officer Lee Hastings.

She claims she was effectively sacked by the prison service in April last year, ten months after moving to Brinsford after a trouble-free spell at Shrewsbury Prison.

The Birmingham tribunal has already heard that shortly after she started at Brinsford, one of the governors reprimanded her for wearing heavy make-up, bangles and a nose stud.

Despite writing in her diary: 'Make-up is me, I don't want to change me', she bought lighter shades of lipstick and other make-up to comply with the rules.

Adam Farrer, for the prison service, suggested that going to work 'glammed up' was not appropriate and that she was seen by inmates as a 'soft touch'.

But Miss Kajla replied that she had been taught to take pride in her appearance.

Responding to criticism of her informality with inmates, she said: 'I was always friendly but never a friend.'

The tribunal heard how Miss Kajla would often sit with groups of prisoners on her own.

Giving evidence, Mr Hastings told the tribunal panel this showed a 'lack of personal safety'.

He denied a claim by Stephen Roberts, representing Miss Kajla, that he had 'bullied and intimidated' Miss Kajla because she was 'pretty and small'.

The prison officer said he had simply been concerned that 'repeated actions were breaching security issues within the prison service'.

He added: 'The young offenders are without doubt the most spontaneous, volatile and violent ones.'

Mr Straw is not expected to be called to give evidence at the tribunal, which continues.

Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11...l#ixzz0LNiOHmOZ

My Eclipse CD5435 is behaving erratically

Hi guys,

I'm currently using an Eclipse cd5435 for almost 2 years(bought new). The HU is great though but recently it started to behave erratically when playing MP3 CDs (The CD is in good condition with no visible scratches), sometimes it failed to read or skip to next the file. I already tried with normal Audio CD, it seems to work flawlessly.

Is this a sign of a dirty lens? If it does how do I clean the lens ?

It's strange to have this because my old and cheaper pioneer CD player in the other car doesn't have any of this problem since I bought it 7 years ago.

Advice is very much appreciated. Thanks.

She did not really talk to me at first as she found me stand-offish. Over the following months, we met mostly through group outings and somehow my feelings for her grew. Recently, we had a chance to be alone and I confessed my feelings to her.

I did this despite knowing that she already has a boyfriend, whom she has been going out since her college days. Their relationship is mature, they have even bought a house together, although she has turned down his offer of marriage, claiming she’s not ready for it

Surprisingly, after I expressed my feelings, she did not reject me outright. She told me that she too had grown to be fond of me. Happily, we decided to give things a try and she alternates between seeing me and her boyfriend.

During times of guilt, she’s asked to break our relationship but I have told her that she should not rush this matter.

She’s in a dilemma and doesn’t know who to choose – someone who’s she known for many years or a new love. I’ve tried to assure her that her feelings for me are genuine else she would not have reciprocated my love.

I only worry that she will end up choosing her current boyfriend only for the sake of convenience. How do I convince her that she has to trust her heart and put faith in my ability to be the right life partner for her?

I have no feelings for anyone but her and the thought of losing my fated love now haunts me. Do you see a happy ending in this for both of us?

Daydreamer

YOUR girlfriend will have to make the ultimate decision. She knows very well that she can’t have both men.

Her mind probably tells her to stick with her guy. After so many years together, sharing house and home, she almost has a marriage.

But then you came into her life and you brought excitement, attention, love and thrill.

You understand her well and do not want to pressure her into a decision. Yet, you seem to have accepted the inevitable, that she will leave you eventually.

With this attitude, you will surely lose your gal. Think before you give up.

If she has been truly happy with her guy, would she have allowed herself into this situation?

Two timing is very stressful because it involves lies, deceit, manipulation and deviousness.

If this woman is of such character, then you should be the first to leave. But if you believe that she is with you because she is having doubts about her relationship, then you have hope.

If your love is so strong after knowing her for only six months, then go on fighting.

Ask for time, create opportunities for this relationship to develop and strengthen. Persuade her with love, sincerity and persistence. Do not allow fear, doubts and placid acceptance to rule your mind.

Love has no enemy. When she has to decide, the better man should win.

Again, Thelma is dealing with another confused spanner but this time she seems approving it, I wonder who played the 'Thelma' ?

QUOTE

Two timing is very stressful because it involves lies, deceit, manipulation and deviousness.

Anyway /CC/ let's discuss !

Dear Thelma™ : Drawn to looks

It's Dear Thelma™ time !

Source:

http://thestar.com.my/lifestyle/story.asp?...5&sec=lifefocus

QUOTE

Drawn to looks

I need some advice regarding my love life. I recently got to know this girl and really like her as she is very pretty.

Unfortunately, she is already seeing someone. She told me she has known him for four years. They were together on Valentine’s Day and we had a lunch date the following day.

Do you think I should interfere in this relationship and become the third person? Do you think I stand a chance with her since she is not married yet? I am really troubled.

Third Party

AS long as the girl is single, she is still available. However, you are hardly close to being the third person in her love life.

You have only known this beauty for only a short time, while she has known the guy for four years. And if she has been including him in her conversations with you, then she’s been setting boundaries. So don’t be so besotted and single-minded. If you are truly confident about your charms and she seems happy to have lunches and dinners with you, then perhaps you are in the running. However, if she only wants to talk about her guy with you, then take heed.

Take it easy and do not act obsessively. You should get to know more of her than get so excited about her looks. A woman enjoys flattery and attention, but she also needs to feel secure about love and emotions. What happens when she is older and no longer beautiful? Would you still feel the same way?

Give love more depth and space. Getting hung up over good looks and nothing more is shallow and superficial.

So, shallowness + spannerism do get along very well ?

Let's discuss

Chris Bangle quits BMW

I just read from Paul Tan this morning and found this.

Source: http://paultan.org/archives/2009/02/03/chr...-auto-industry/

QUOTE

Bangle and his “machais” (L-R): David Robb (BMW Motorrad), Adrian van Hooydonk (BMW), Ulf Weidhase (BMW M and BMW Individual), Ian Cameron (Rolls-Royce), Gert Volker Hildebrand (MINI)

Chris Bangle has quit BMW, and apparently the entire auto industry as well. Succeeding his position as chief of design for the entire BMW Group (including MINI and Rolls-Royce) is Dutchman Adrian van Hooydonk, who is the BMW brand’s design chief.

52-year old Bangle who has worked in BMW since 1992 is not moving to another car company but is instead leaving to pursue his own design-related ventures beyond the auto industry. Among the work produced by the BMW design team under van Hooydonk’s leadership include the new F01 7-Series, the new Z4 and the upcoming BMW PAS.

This story by NY Times reveals that many of BMW’s controversial designs that made it into production under Bangle’s watch have erroneously been attributed to him. He merely approved it. The “Bangle butt” should more appropriately be called the “van Hooydonk butt”. As for the whole controversial “flame surfacing” design, which many have said is a mere collection of random surface shapes to conceal an unimaginative design, the article claims that to be the responsibility of another American, Chris Chapman.

Honestly, I like his designs. We will going to miss the era where Bimmers really stands out from the crowd, although some might hate it.

The revolutionary angel eyes headlamps design with 'eyebrows' is simply stunning.

Wiki Chris Bangle : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Bangle
