macro lens of choice for canon, anyone?

hi guyz,i am a canon 40D user..
am interested in macro and planning to get myself a lens for macro
right now stuck between tamron and canon...
Last month's DCM recommended tamron..

well the only reason i dun like bout tamron 90mm is because it has a extending tube..
otherwise its ok..(well DCM claims that it is abit too sharp to be use in portraits shooting),after all its only 1.4k

The new tamron 60mm however doesnt extend and offers f2,but it costs nearly 2k...
the question is, do i really need the f2..
do i need the speed when i m doing macro

as for canon 100mm, its around 2k+ as well
but offers non extending tube and also has USM..plus canon now offers 3 YEARS warranty
the thing is,when ppl r doing macro, do they really need the fast AF?or most ppl will use manual focus?

am still considering now, can any user give some comment or recommendation?
thnx alot in advance
