Active or passive

Hey people,

I have only played with passive pickups, mainly stock pickups installed on the guitar itself, and got no clue of how active sounds like. It wasn't until recently I bought a Ibanez RGA42, which comes with a pair of Ibanez very own active pickups. It is a total new experience to me. Lotsa gains. Really make your pinch harmonics squeal big time!!
However after a month of playing it, i don't quite like the sound.

I tried my best to tweak on my G2.1U pedal, hoping to get the tone that i'm after, but at last it just sounds too "hot" (dunno how to describe its character), very sensitive to picking, and very hard to do a solid "chugga chugga" type of palm mute. I tried to lower the gain but no luck. After comparison, my ears keep telling me it sounds better on passive.

I am not too certain what is causing this. I assume it's the active pickups. Correct me if i'm wrong. I am collecting as much info as i can before deciding to stick with passive or switch to active.
Please come share your thoughts/experiences with it, will ya? Thanks

*I am aiming to get a warm, smooth, creamy sounding solo while keeping brutal, mind-blowing tone in riffing.

9800GT issue

To all experts out there, can u help me with this? im gonna get 9800GT tomorrow, along with mobo and new quad core processor. i was wondering if 9800GT will be able to fit in Asus P5KPL-AM's slot (the reason i choose this is mainly because of its price), or does it need better mobo?

And the other thing is, is 460W of power enough to handle 9800GT? in this case, im referring to CM extreme power. From the previous posts here, i heard some said CM seems unable to deliver its true power than it supposed to be.

Thanks in advance

HELP with g2.1u!

Hey wats up everyone? hope everyone's doing good..

I have always been wanting to try my hands on writing my own music, and recently i got my first multi-fx pedal, g2.1u, which has a cool feature that enables me to do direct-to-pc recording. But somehow i run into this trouble, my computer/g2.1u does not detect/record the guitar sound.. this kinda brings me down

So i was wondering if there's any g2.1u sifus/gurus could solve this issue for me.. i'm not really sure where's the problem occurred? either pedal or computer? but i'm pretty sure that i have done those setups in order, correctly. Plugged my guitar into the input of pedal, then output to the blue line-in socket of my computer, got my software installed (both cubase and audacity), had my speakers to monitor the sound (it's unmuted), bringing the volume level all the way up, and of course i did press the record button while i was recording. And the result is, no wave/signal is detected on its track, how come?

And hey, one thing worth to mention here is, i do not use external power supplies, neither adapter nor AA batteries, just usb power. i suspect if this has any clash with recording. And i do not have any dedicated sound card on my computer, just normal sound device. i assume it's still workable rite? at the cost of poorer quality.

Am i missing something in between? Fellow g2 pros, any idea?[FONT=Arial]
