Polycarbonate installation - aluminium glazing

hi, i'm about to install polycarbonate skylight on my pegola. It's 16ft long x 11ft wide. Rafter spacing is 2ft, until the last one about 2.5ft spacing.

so I will install three 16ft pieces: 4ft wide + 4ft wide + 3ft wide.

I will need aluminium glazing in between the sheets. Question is, do I just use glazing on top and let the polycarb sit directly on the wood, or should I use a base/bottom glazing also between the polycarb and the wood rafter?

I see most installations not using bottom glazing. But in the marklon installation guide, there is both top and bottom.

Anyone with installation experience or knowledge can advise? btw I'm using the 3mm embossed type.

Marklon installation guide

edit: found another installation example that doesn't use base/bottom glazing. So what's the advantage of using it?

deskylight site with installation example at bottom of page
