Optical Network Point Testing

Hi all,
Is there anyway to test the Optical Network Point provided by Developer for connecting to the ONT?
Two of my neighbours have pointed out to me that the cable was not working when the tech came to install Unifi. The developer rejected the claim saying that the cable was damaged due to renovation. So in the end my neighbours have to pay RM400+ to pull new cable from the external distribution box to the interior.

Is it possible that I plug in TMnet supplied ONT to the Optical Network Point without Unifi to test the port? Can the ONT indicators show whether there is any connection to whatever it is on the other end, i.e.: signal detected but port not activated? Trying to DIY rather than asking contractor which gonna cost $$$.

Appreciate inputs from all sifus

HDD Faulty?

Hi all,
I have a 1TB Seagate notebook HDD that I bought in 2016 which start acting up after few days i have installed a synaptic driver for the touchpad.
The laptop crashed with a BSOD and after that it cannot be boot up. The BIOS prompted stating there is no bootable drive.

I suspected that it could be the boot section that is corrupted and tried to reformat the OS drive but strangely the HDD (including the partition) is not detected in the windows installation page even though the BIOS can detect the HDD.
I have plugged the hdd to another laptop with an external reader and it can be detected just fine, but when i tried to format or perform a disk check on the OS partition, the HDD will stopped responding. The weirdest part is the other partition do not have the same symptom. I still can access the data partition and backup all my stuff.

Any idea what is the problem with the HDD? is it because of bad sector but the disk management page still shows that the OS partition is healthy?
Do you think a low level format will fix the problem?

thank you.
Bumi Release Lot from Developer

Hi All,
Anyone bought bumi released unit from developer before? The house is VP last year October and the developer just informed that they are planning to apply to convert bumi lot to non-bumi lot.
Can anyone assist with the following questions?

1) how long it would take for the process? developed saying it may take 6 months
2) will there be any issues due to this conversion later on? Maybe after 10 years?
3) I was informed that for ready built house, the SPA warranty clause will be different. The developer agent said that all defects need to be reported during handover and no further claims allowed after that. i am thinking that since the house is ready for almost 6 months and another 6 months for the processing, any sign of leaks or cracks would be revealed by then. Any real concerns here?
4) any other things that i should be looking out for bumi release lot?

Thank you!

SC mentioned that unless there is water collecting inside the headlamps, else they wont be able to make any warranty claims.
Quick Solution
Look for the dust plug behind the headlamp. It is a C-shaped rubber plug. Unplug it and remove a white foam inserted in the dust plug.
1996 Wira Aeroback 1.6l

hello sifus,
I have a very worn out wira aeroback 1.6l auto. Currently i have two problems with this car.

1) Engine stalled when the gear is in N during braking/ idle in front traffic light. It only happened 4 times. Normally after the engine stalled, i just have to ignite the engine and it's ready to go. But the recent incident i was not able to start the engine at all. after like 5-10 mins i tried again and it works again. Checked with my mechanic and he suspects is the throttle body issue. he told me that the throttle body will cost about rm700. However, he said that he does not guarantee that will solve the problem. any suggestion what are the other parts that might cause the problem?

2) High fuel consumption. The FC of the car has gone from worse to worst. Previously, the car able to run 250km on rm50 of petrol but now only can run 150km on rm50 :S do you guys think this issue is related to the engine stalling issue?

Hope to get input from all the sifus here on what are the cheap solutions available for this car. Thinking to change car by early next year. But have to make sure this Wira can last until then.

Thanks!!

XBOX 360 PHAT HDMI Issue

Hi sifus here,
I have a Phat XBOX360 and i have been using HDMI with my lcd TV all the while. But recently i plugged out the HDMI cable to connect to my laptop and the XBOX360 doesnt work at all with the same TV anymore. I have tried with 2 different TVs with the same HDMI cable and it works without any issue. But once i plugged it back to my own LCD TV, it wont work at all. I have tried with different resolution and different color spacing but still not able to display anything. Odd enough, the LCD TV has no problem detecting/display other devices, ie: laptop, Blu-ray player.
I have tried Y+RT to reset the Xbox display and also restore to factory settings for both the XBOX and LCD TV, but still no hope at all...

Any sifu has this kind of experience before and mind to share wit me how you solve the problem?

Thanks!
