Working with the UN (United Nations)

Hello there LYN brothers and sisters,

I would like to find out more about working in the UN, with some questions as below:

1. What was the education route which could lead to a job with the UN? I graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from UNITEN, but I checked out the UN website and they said they needed Master qualification. Now, I'm wondering what sort of Master program to undertake? Master in non-technical course (Engineering Management) acceptable? Or has it got to be technical (HSE, Mech Eng, etc...)?

2. Would they consider Malaysian grads? Or do we have to be from a "more renowned" background? This will help to determine where I should undertake my Master course....

3. Maximum age to apply is 30 years old. Anyone, or anyone who knows anyone, got in after 30 years old?? I'm 25 going 26 this year, after Master would be say, 29??? And it says 5 years experience for P3 grade... Will I be able to make it? What are my chances like???
