Pegawai Penerangan di Pejabat Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang Wan Ji Wan Husin didapati dijatuhi hukuman penjara sembilan bulan oleh mahkamah Seksyen Shah Alam berkaitan kesalahan hasutan dengan menghina sultan.

Hukuman itu bagaimanapun ditangguhkan sementara menunggu rayuannya ke mahkamah tinggi.

“Hakim Mahkamah Sesyen juga tidak mengenakan tambahan jaminan ke atas saya, maka saya bebas sementara rayuan,” tulisnya di Facebook.

Pada 2012, Wanji melalui tulisannya di Facebook didakwa menghasut dan menghina sultan Selangor.

Penceramah lulusan pengajian Islam dari Pakistan itu bagaimanapun mengaku tidak bersalah atas tuduhan itu.
Wan Ji sebelum ini dituduh mengeluarkan penerbitan didakwa menghasut melalui satu tulisan di Facebook pada tahun 2012 yang didakwa menghina sultan Selangor.

Kes itu disiasat mengikut Seksyen 4(1)© Akta Hasutan atas tulisannya yang antara lain dikatakan mempersoalkan kelayakan sultan Selangor sebagai ketua agama.

Sementara itu Wanji ketika dihubungi Malaysiakini berkata keputusan tersebut akan membuatkan musuhnya berpuas hati.

Selain itu dalam tempoh tersebut beliau juga sudah merancang untuk membaca ratusan buku di dalam penjara.

“Saya pun sudah fikir, nak khatam ratusan buku yang saya masih tergendala untuk dibaca dalam penjara nanti,” katanya.

PETALING JAYA: Well-known preacher Wan Ji Wan Hussin was arrested today by the police moments after he gave a Friday sermon at Masjid Jalan Sembilang, Seberang Jaya, in Penang.

Police confirmed the arrest and said Wan Ji, who was appointed information officer in the Penang Chief Minister’s office two weeks ago, was being held under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948.

He has been taken to Seberang Perai Tengah district police headquarters.

Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, the strategic adviser to Penang’s Chief Minister, said in a media statement that Wan Ji’s lawyer was now with him to get the information on his arrest, after which another statement would be issued.

Wan Ji is an exco member of PKR Youth in charge of religion.

His arrest came just days after Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) officer Zamihan Mat Zin, who had also been arrested under the Sedition Act, posted a picture of Wan Ji on social media with the words “Wan Ji mahu sistem raja dihapuskan” (Wan Ji wants the sultanate system abolished).

SEBERANG PERAI, Oct 13 ― Wan Ji Wan Hussin, information officer to the Penang chief minister, was arrested at 2.45pm today, just after Friday prayers outside Masjid Sembilang in Seberang Jaya.

Penang police chief Datuk Chuah Ghee Lye confirmed the arrest.

“Wan Ji will be investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act,” he said.

The 35-year-old popular preacher was taken to the Central Seberang Perai police headquarters for further investigation and will be taken to the Dang Wangi police station in Kuala Lumpur after that.

Wan Ji was appointed as information officer last month to assist the Penang chief minister’s strategic adviser Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to counter Islamic-related matters in the state.

In a statement, Saifuddin Nasution said Wan Ji had been arrested after delivering a sermon at the mosque.

“The reason for his arrest is still unknown,” he said, adding that a statement will be issued after a lawyer accompanying Wan Ji is able to obtain information.

The reason I opened this thread is to give brief information on Higher Education Institutions / Skills Institutes to SPM / STPM / STAM / O-Level / A-Level graduates regarding higher education pathway for full time studies and also to working adults who seeks part time studies.

This is a basically continuation to my old thread "Malaysia Higher Education - Universities & University Colleges" posted in CARI Forum which was quite active back in 2009 - 2013 until it was archived by CARI admin.

While I understand there is a similar thread pinned by the mod in this very EE forum, my intention is to be able to provide summaries and update information on higher education industry in Malaysia.

As I am a veteran in the higher education sector for 19 years (8 years of experience in Matriculation College and 11 years in a University specialising in Open Distance Learning), hopefully I'll be able to provide insights for those seeking more information on their higher education pathway.

This thread will listed comprehensively the IPTAs (Public Uni) / IPTS (Private Uni) which of Polytechnic / Teachers' Training Institute / University / University College status and also Skills / Technical Institutes available in Malaysia.

May this thread helps you in making the best choice in deciding your future higher education.
