Last week i went scrounging in my storage getting prepare to move to my new house and see what i found !!

Chieftec Dragon Full Tower Casing

Planning to mod this casing but I am not creative enough

So I am looking for ideas and comment on how to mod this baby. Planning to use this casing for Gaming/HTPC function (I know its too big but why not )

Will probably start Mid of November or so when i have some spare time.

Restrictions: I am staying in a condominium so i don't have the facility nor equipment to cut/paint the casing, so iam looking for modding services around puchong/ OKR/ cheras area. Budget around max 1K (of coz the cheaper the better )

Speaker Placement

Currently my center speaker is placed just above my AVR, what i wanted to ask is:

1. Is the center speaker sitting too low on the ground?
2. Whats the ideal height to sit the speaker at ?
3. Should i hang the center speaker on the wall using nails or put up a shelve to let the speaker sit on it?

Currently my TV 32" LCD sit around 5ft off the ground and the L/R speaker is at 4ft. The IKEA table is around 2ft tall so the the Center speaker should be 1ft of the ground. My Surround speakers both sits at 7ft on a 5% angle from my sitting position.

When watching a movie or listening to music i tend to focus alot on the sound coming from below rather than focusing on the tv which makes it kinda awkward to watch/listen for extended periods of time .

Starter HT system

Hi all,

Just wanna ask all the HT guru here,

What is a good starting set of components for a newbie assembling a simple 5.1 HT system?

I already have a 32" HD ready Toshiba LCD, a set of 5 satellites.

Now looking for a cheap and decent AVR and also subwoofer.

System will be used for mainly Videos and Music played from a PC (Blu-ray and downloaded Videos/Music)

My lappy has SPDIF (Optical Out), Analogue 5.1 and also HDMI Out

Any good recommendations? My budget is around 2K++ for both (i know its not alot but thats what i have left )
