tgv cinema online ticketing: non Movieclub member

Recently i went on the tgv cinema website to buy tickets online and to my dismay, it seems that only movieclub members can buy tickets online! Every movie i click to buy online tickets, it says that i need to sign in, and since i dint have an account with them, i went to 'sign up' but then i found out that this movie club membershio costs 28 per year, its not that i cant afford it but why should i have to pay for this basic service?? For all these years they have been allowing peoole to buy online tickets at tgv without signing uo for a paid membership.. and i've been buying , no issue, just fill in my email address everytime.. but now, they wont extend this service to the general public?? Wtf! Please tell me i'm mistaken, and that there's a way to buy tickets if you're not a member, or if there is a basic free membership. Gsc cinema and Mbo provides free membership (just a basic account , which enables online ticketing) .. i dont wanna queue for 1 hr just to find out that there's only the bad seats left for the movie i wanna watch, online tix were so convenient! Now they wanna make us pay for saving THEM labour/overhead costs by doing transactions online...

receiving item from seller after servicing

i'm going to receive an item from my seller (which i previously purchased from him in the US) after servicing/repair. and it's still under warranty. I've already been charged the 10% sales tax the first time the item crossed the border here, and i don't wanna pay tax again when its returned to me. is there any declaration form or any document that my seller has to include to make sure that it doesn't get detained at customs again for tax??

ps: my item is a wooden flute worth about RM 1000, but its quite plain looking.. and can perhaps pass of as being worth a few hundred ringgit.here's a link: http://www.caseyburnsflutes.com/ff.php

thanks in advance.

buying original mp3 online

wondering if there's any site where i can buy mp3, that has a database as large as amazon? i'm looking to buy a few songs from a rather obscure band that i like. i can find it on amazon but the site only caters to US. this is one of the rare instances where i actually want to buy original... usually i'd download via some p2p software, can't find it through that way this time, and well, the kind of music i like is so obscure, the only way to get it is through download.... any help would be appreciated

UOB Management Trainee Interview

Too many questions, not enough comprehensive straight forward answers about this program here in low yat forum. So, for future reference, the following is a run-down of the entire process that I’ve gone through for all stages of screening for the position of management trainee in UOB. Some parts should be quite typical of screening methods banks employ, especially assesment day. I realize the i have written more than 800 words. in the spirit of helpfulness, i got carried away. and, (Disclaimer: I do not claim everything is accurate or even vaguely accurate XD)

The position:
Management trainee in UOB does not rotate you around all banking sectors but instead is quite specific from the start. It is divided into commercial banking, wealth management, credit, business banking, operations, (and a few others I forgot). From what I understand, there’s little or no switching between the types during the program. The position is largely sales-based since only one department out of all of them (operations) is non-sales, others have at least some sales involved. Most candidates I talked to prefered non-sales, but only about 20% (as i heard) is not sales, so well, they can't accomodate everyone. anyway, let's get on with it

1.0: Email response to question from HR:
What sort of people do you enjoy working with the most? And why.

2.0: Phone Interview:
Based on your previous answer, tell us about an actual incident where you got along with people.

3.0 First interview (one on one) (about 80-100 candidates, 20 something candidates in a few batches)
After briefing about management trainee program, candidates are asked standard questions, ‘tell me about yourself’ ‘why do you want to join UOB’ ‘what department would you prefer the most’ ‘tell me about your previous experience/school activities’. Nothing technical here, just be personable and confident.

4.0 Second Interview (Assessment day) (about 40- 50 candidates)
4.1 Group stage:
Candidates are divided into teams of 5 to 6. Two assessors sit behind the group’s table to observe groups’ interactions
4.1.1 Structure building
a)
-build an egg catcher with given materials (newspaper, straws, clips, balloons, tissue) in 20 minutes. each material has a given cost. the egg must not roll off/bounce off and remain unbroken after a 5-foot drop. Try to minimize the cost yet have a creative design without compromising its ability to break the egg’s fall and to stand stably on its own.
-build it too narrow and deep, you risk missing the target when you drop the egg, build it too wide and shallow, and it will not break the egg’s fall, build with extra cushiony material (like balloon), and risk making the egg bounce out. (best team had a wide cone stuffed with tissue, reinforced with some extra bits and the bottom to make the base stable) - demonstrate your skills in assessing the various trade-offs and your quick thinking
b)
repeat the above, just that more optional materials are provided at an extra cost. build egg catcher differently this time, build it for a 6-foot drop, learn from the best team. Test again.
4.1.2
Scenario discussion:
a)
-there are nine passengers abroad an airplane which only has eight parachutes,. The plane is crashing to a dense tropical jungle because the pilot is down. passengers include a businessman, lawyer, artifact trader, policeman, engineer, married couple, pregnant lady, and an old lady. Who should be left behind, discuss. (most groups chose either the one which has the least contribution to give to the surviving people, or the one who has the highest probability of fixing/piloting the plane).
-candidates present and justify their answers to a group of assessors. Whatever your choice, you must give good reasons for choosing that person, demonstrate a logical thought-process, because the assessors will throw all sorts of rebuttals/questions at you (how sure are you that the engineer can fly a plane/ it’s very discriminative to leave the old lady behind) . Stand firm on your choice, and I think it’s better to have the whole team behind one answer, although some members may disagree
b)
continuation from the last scenario. Each member of the team can choose one of the following items to bring after you crash into the island. (knife, life jacket, compass etc). So you have to justify why you want to bring that item. Again, you must have good reasons for choose one item over another (multiple uses, can be used from the good of the team etc). Assessors will argue that another item is more beneficial/sensible.

4.2 Individual stage (serious stuff)
Write a short essay about one of the given topics (20 minutes) prepare a presentation & short notes (around 10 minutes) and present the topic(5-7 minutes). Three assessors are your audience. You can’t read your essay.
The topic options given to me (they are different for every few groups):
-how will the banking industry be in the 21st century – what should be done to improve the banking industry in 5 years
- what will happen to the Malaysian economy if petrol price increases to US D130 per barrel?
-why are leadership skills important for success in an organization? ( I chose this, least fact-based more intuitive)
-I heard other candidates also had case studies of fictional companies (regarding product strategy/minimizing cost)
Best to choose something you are comfortable with. If you get very technical, assessors will ask technical questions in return. Go read newspapers, listen to news, keep up with current happenings for this part, revise economic/accounting theory .

well, you get the idea

customs (how to pay)

i'm thinking of buying a harp online, and i how do i pay the customs tax? will the courrier services generally pay this tax so that it can clear customs and claim the amount from you later? (how exactly does this work though, since i pay the seller the shipping not the courrier directly)

or will they issue a letter and tell you to collect it at the customs to pay the tax?

i've bought stuff online before, and never had problems with getting things blocked at the customs, so far, i've used the uk and irish national post, for stuff bought from there
