My 3Y5M Son Is Driving Me Crazy

Hi all,

I usually troll/have a good time at kopitiam but today I am actually asking for genuine help.

My 3year 5month old son is starting to really push my buttons, so much so that i broke my no hit rule and slapped him twice in public.
He tends to meltdown over the smallest things. For example - night pajamas not to his liking? meltdown......rice has leafy veges? meltdown.......his toys doesn't function the way he wants it to......meltdown.

I have tried alternatives. For example for the pajamas I asked him to choose his pajamas from 3 options and guess what happened? meltdown because I didn't choose for him.

He has minimal tv time (30 mins on Saturday and 30 mins on Sunday).
Both my wife and I are actively involved in his life (Playing, praising, talking, outdoor activities, swimming, etc)
He goes to a really expensive and well established nursery near our house (Costs me Rm2500 a month)
I get him some of the best foods.
We make sure to not spoil him though with regards to toys (For example we do not immediately buy everything he wants, and when it comes to outdoor play we take him to parks or outdoor playgrounds that either cost nothing or is minimal.)
We live next door to my brother in law and thus his 3 kids usually play with my son.

I am at a loss. There are days where I feel like slapping the hell out of him (Luckily I do not do so).
What can I do to not lose my sh*t again and manage my emotions? At the same time is there something I am doing wrong?

No Grab Drivers in Subang?

My car got sent to the workshop and I will need to use Grab for the next few months. Why is it so damn hard to get drivers here? Morning, 3pm, 4pm, 6pm, 8pm it doesn’t matter. Nobody wants to drive here ke?
I even tried MyCar, MULA, Dacsee, etc.

Lately I have been seeing ads about this Certified Professional Trainer programme.
Did some research and apparently it is run by a guy called KC See. I am currently a trainer and thus I feel that this certificate might be useful.

At the same time it might be a giant waste of time and money.

Boss is mentally torturing my friend

A very good friend of mine landed a job at a small college recently. The first 3 months was heaven but then the honeymoon ended and he was verbally abused and threatened by his boss for minor mistakes.

Threats include - Blacklisting him from ever teaching at a college or university again. This is because although the college is a small one the boss is well connected with the education ministry.

Verbal abuse includes being called an idiot daily, being called a retard and even had the 4 letter word being used towards him.
He was also called an idiot in front of his students.

Apparently he’s not the only one and most lecturers have to endure this mental torture frequently.

So my question is: What can he do? Walk away and he will be blacklisted. Lodge a complaint and the boss might use his connections to screw him over

Working in China

I have just been offered a position as an English teacher in China. The pay is RM14 000 a month and I will be on a rolling yearly contract.

I am not Chinese and I do not speak a word in Mandarin except for some bad words.

The money is a lot and it is tempting but is it worth it? I will be leaving my friends, family and loved one in Malaysia to move to a place I have never been before.

Refinancing A House

Hi. My mum has a house that is approximately RM1 million in value. She would like to refinance the house for RM300k. She has no debts and the house has been fully paid for. The house is solely under her name. The only issue is her age. She's 66 years old. Will banks be willing to provide her with the Rm300k refinancing or do I need to join in with her?
