UniFi Set Top Box replacement RM500 charge

Guys,

Would like to seek some advice here.

My Unifi HyppTV STB had some problems starting about a couple weeks back. It would only emit sound and no picture when watching any TV channel there. You could see the main menu, but switching to a channel would result in a error code 105006 and asking for the STB to reboot.

So we called Unifi hotline to investigate and they promised to send over their technicians to resolve this while telling me there will be a RM50 service charge if the error is on my side. Agreed to it, no big deal.

Now here's the issue:

Technicians came and replaced the STB and left without mentioning anything. And then later in the day Unifi customer services calls us back and tells us that our original STB is out of warranty and they will charge me RM500+50 service charge for the new STB. WTF?!?!

Since I'm not willing to pay that charge, Unifi said they will get their technicians to come back and take back the STB. Since I hardly watch it and I have Astro its not a big deal, but this sounds stupid. Whenever I had Astro decoder problems, Astro would come back and replace it at no charge in the past.

Isn't HyppTV one of their core Unifi services they are promoting? Since I won't have the STB, i might as well call TM and ask them to switch me to a Unifi Business line since I'm technically paying for something that I won't even get to use or watch.

Technician should have advised me at point of replacing the STB if I'm ok with the replacement fee charge.

Whats the best way to go about this? Do I have grounds to launch a complaint with the Consumer Tribunal?
