Can u guys recommend me any brand and model which can play lossless files (FLAC, WAV, ALAC, etc)?
A bonus if the player has a network port.

I'm tired of swapping CDs and want to rip my collection into a big huge lossless collection which can play 24x7 without even repeating a single song

Any AVR can drive 4 ohm all around?

Finally managed to poison my brother in law to upgrade his home theater. He's currently using 5.0 with KEF speakers and I think old DTS Denon AVR.

He only wanted to upgrade his AVR to latest model but insist on using his old KEF. Now the front which is KEF Coda 9 is ok coz it's 6 ohm but to my surprise his center and surround are all 4 ohm speakers (also KEF).

So is there any new HDMI AVR can drive a 4 ohm center and surround? I know 4 ohm for front should be ok but center and surround I have no idea. I don't want his new AVR later clipped and damaged something. Sure he will come and haunt me everyday

Dual input speaker switch/selector

I want to use dual source (AVR and stereo amp) but only using one set of speaker.
My concern is whether the sound quality (especially stereo music) will be affected.

Can someone suggest me some good reliable brand to buy, if possible where to buy locally and what is the wattage I should get. I saw a lot of cheap one on eBay but the shipping's like triple the price of the item itself

If my device use 100w, is it enuf to get 200w or should I go for 300w. Is 50w enuf to use with say a 26w device?
What is the basic rule...for example, should I get at least 50% more wattage than what my device use.

Is the small one like power adapter ok to use (very convenient but any heat prob?) or should I get the big boxy one with multiple sockets.

Really have no idea on this appreciate the help

Anybody use these cables before? Care to share what you think? Is it worth to buy this so called What Hifi 5 stars?

I was thinking of getting The Name to replace my Audioquest Copperhead (to connect my NAD to amp). Just like to know what you think before I put my order.

Basically both use solid core OFC. Copperhead is 22awg and The Name is about 17awg and silver coated. I like how Copperhead sounded so far but curious if The Name is better.

I finally got myself PSB Alpha speakers for my home theatre

Front channel - PSB Alpha T1 (8 ohm)
Center channel - PSB Alpha C1 (8 ohm)
Surround - PSB Alpha B1 (6 ohm)

I'm using Yamaha 663 amp which I can set either 6 ohm or 8 ohm to all channels (can't select individual channel).
So my question is what should I set my amp at? 8 ohm or 6 ohm?
I was thinking to set it at 8 ohm since my main channels speakers (front and center) are 8 ohm.
Is this the correct way to do it? A&L said its ok but I just need 2nd opinion.

Appreciate any input. I don't want to damage my new 663 or even the Alpha's. Thanks

Just bought myself SACD player so need some thoughts on which SACD (or DVD-A) should I get.
I'm looking for good mastering instead of type of song meaning they are definitely better than their CD counterpart.
So it can be anything from Jazz to Rock but pls don't suggest Hindustan

I already bought one based on what I read on this forum but haven't listen yet:

Hello everybody,

Great forum here. All his while I've been reading and this is my first post since I cannot decide which one to choose that goes well with my current system. Appreciate any 2nd opinion.

My current system
CD Player: NAD C 515BEE
AMP: Yamaha RX-V461
Speaker: Yamaha NS-50F (floor stander)
Subwoofer: Yamaha YST-SW315
Speaker cable: QED Silver Anniversary XT
Interconnect: Some custom made from UK (sounded clearer than my Audioquest Copperhead)

My current speaker sounded good enough for the time being for music but I want to get something better. From my reading I've narrowed down to 2 budget floor standers as per title (floor stander is a must since I got kids).
1) Mordaunt-Short MS914 RM1700+ (I know there a new 914i version but this one within my budget - <RM2000)
2) PSB Alpha T1 RM1400+
Both available at Amcorp

I don't know what they call my music but I listen to what I call easy listening music such as Eva Cassidy, Damien Rice, James Blunt, Colbie Caillat, John Mayer, etc. I like songs with strumming guitar, piano and violin. Although I have a sub I usually listen using Yamaha Direct Stereo so having a bassy sound not important to me. I just want clear vocal and vibrant sounding instrument but not harsh/tiring sounding (sorry not good with audio terms but I hope you got what I meant).
