Can I backup my files (around 1TB) in GoogleDrive?

Hi everyone,

I have around 1TB of data that I want to backup, but normal HDD have spinning discs thus have shorter lifespan. If it's a portable one, I'm pretty clumsy so I might drop it a few times making its life even shorter.

SSDs of 1TB size is incredibly expensive and out of the question.

Plus, I might lose it or misplace it.

So I thought of using Google Drive to backup my data. But I want to pay for only 1 month. Then I'll store everything I want to store in my 1TB Google Drive. Then I'll terminate my monthly payment.

From what I read from the product description, after my payment termination, I would still be able to access my files, but I would not be able to edit or write or add any files. But Google always like to use very simple language, that they might missed out the fine prints (of the terms and conditions). I don't know how long Google will let their no-longer-paying Google Drive users to access their Google Drives.

Is my plan practical? I don't want to ask Google directly because I think their salesperson surely have something else to say when I tell them I'm planning to pay 1 month only to use 1TB of their space.

How to run a same program on 3 different servers?

How to run a same program on 3 different servers?

For example, if I want to run Microsoft Word on 3 different PCs, while all 3 PCs have same access to edit and save the document, how can I do it?

The Microsoft Word is just an example. I want to host an online game, on 3 separate servers, but all running the same one. Theoretically, if 1 is down (or even if 2 are simultaneously down, which actually is very unlikely) then I still have backup server that will continue hosting the game.

But some of possible problems:
- How to make realtime database across all 3 servers? If realtime not possible, then maybe the other 2 servers will have to duplicate the database every time interval, say, 1 second.
- If the online game players are connected to the IP of the 1st server, if the 1st server crashes, how the players connect to the 2nd server?

I really hope this is possible. Or at least I hope somebody can explain how Google or Facebook provide their service using multiple servers all around the world, such that if 1 is down, their service is unaffected. (And just to let you know, my IT knowledge is very surface, hope you can use very lay words to make me understand .)

Thanks everyone!

How to make website with TAC system?

Hello!

I'm not sure where to park this question, so I post it here.

I want to make a website where when users register, they need to enter 3 fields: username, password and phone number.

After they've registered, they will get an SMS (a TAC, or transaction authorization code) giving a computer-generated 6-digit code where they have to input it, if correct, then only the account will be registered.

Step by step, it is something like this:

1. User enters registration page, enter the username, password and phone number. User will be directed to 2nd registration page (where user will input the 6-digit code).
2. The username, password and phone number will go to our database.
3. A programme will generate a 6-digit code
4. The 6-digit code will be sent to the registered phone number.
5. User will receive the 6-digit code and enter it at the 2nd registration page.
6. If the 6-digit code entered by the user matches the one generated by programme earlier, the account is authorized!

My question is for the number 4 step. How to subscribe for a service that can automatically send a message to the registering user?

Anyone that can help, thank you very much!

Which stock broker charges the cheapest?

Hi everyone!

I'm very new in this stock trading thing. In fact, I'm not even 'in' yet.

I've just learned a few things about stock trading. Straight to my question. Basically I know that a broker is the 'middleman' between a stock seller and a buyer. Am I correct?

So they charge when you make transactions, be it buying or selling. Correct? I've opened an iTrade CIMB account, I have a CDS account. It looks like they charge 0.7% for each transaction.

Are there any other online trading services that have lower charges? Which is the cheapest?
How do I do trading with non-bank brokers?
Do they have online trading?

which condo in m'sia has the best private garden?

hi

i want to buy a condo unit with a very nice private garden
maybe not now, because of affordability, but later on, when i'm old and about to die, it would be nice to hang out at the rooftop private garden having some barbecues with my families and stuff
so for that purpose, which condo in malaysia has the best private garden?
the ones with the biggest garden, or nicest view, or highest floor, the criteria is up to your own preferences

i've seen from highway, a particularly old (but still nice) condo, riana green in tropicana
looks like it has a pretty nice rooftop garden, but then again, i was only looking from the highway, what can i see

so in your opinion, (price aside, assume money is not an issue ) which condo in malaysia has the best private garden?

Low water pressure

hi

if my house have low water pressure issues, what should i do?
most people suggested installing water pump, but i live in flat (low-rise flat), and top floor
somebody said, if i install water pump, then i'll be pumping water to all units below me

are we entitled to complain about low water pressure to some authority and get better water pressure for free?
or everytime we get low water pressure we need to solve it ourselves?
for condos or other properties where they have maintenance fee, then you can easily complain it to the management company and they'll do something

if i install water tank, still useless if the water going to the water tank is slow

and if anyone wants to promote anything, pls include catalog or something instead of just giving a contact number

any suggestions?
thank you in advance

why dont they make 2-sided coolers?

coolers are so big nowadays with those aluminium/copper heatpipes and fins
and for VGA, the coolers are facing downwards, puling down the card with the cooler's weight

one day i was playing this game when i touched the top of my VGA and felt "man that is hot"
then i thought "why dont they make coolers on this side too? wouldn't that be more efficient than making superbig coolers on one side only?"

just wondering

of course they have their reasons
of course they have thought about it

but just wondering
wat were the reasons?
